Quick Transmigration: The Host is Forced to Love!

44: Chapter 44 The Tragic Female Insect’s Nobleman 6”Your Highness, I’m back. How are you doing today?”

The figure sitting in the room, lost in thought, turned his head upon hearing this.

His face was cold and handsome, yet his entire being seemed permeated with an unshakable sorrow.

”Mervyn, I’m doing fine, but in this state, I’m ultimately just a burden to you.”

Lu Zhan’s calm tone held a hint of despondency, and his cold features carried a touch of self-reproach.

Hearing His Highness’s words, Mervyn hurried over to the Male Zerg, his expression gentle, though his eyes were brimming with heartache. It was all his fault; not only could he not provide better living conditions for His Highness, but he had also caused His Highness to worry.

”Your Highness, please never say that. It is Mervyn’s honor to take care of you! It is Your Highness who is suffering by following me. It is all Mervyn’s fault for having no ability; I feel terrible about this!”

After Mervyn finished speaking, his eyes felt a little moist. His Highness had never suffered such hardships before.

Mervyn’s demeanor and words seemed to make the Male Zerg feel a bit flustered, and the sorrow surrounding him faded slightly.

”That’s not true, Mervyn. It is I who should thank you for not abandoning me. You are very kind, and I am very grateful. It’s just that in my current state, with neither assets nor income, and requiring expensive medication to survive, I am nothing but a heavy burden and a liability. I’m just afraid you are working too hard.”

His words were filled with self-loathing.

Everything he had experienced in such a short time had ultimately stained this once cold, noble, and untainted His Highness with the dust of the world.

They didn’t have to live such a hard life, staying in a dilapidated place like this, the Male Zerg thought to himself.

It was all because of him. His body could not survive without the advanced medical care and unique, expensive drugs of the Empire’s capital, and they had no extra money to support travel back and forth, so they had to stay.

However, his face had already been dug up and posted on the starnet. Every Zerg citizen in the capital looked at him with disgust, contempt, and hatred, mixed with all kinds of insults, and they would even throw things at him.

The Empire’s security guards turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to all of this. Although the Male Zerg Protection Association had not yet stripped him of his status, all the privileges of a Male Zerg seemed to have vanished for him.

The capital was so vast, yet suddenly, it seemed there was no place left for him to stay.

Later, Mervyn went out alone to find this place and quietly brought him over. Very few Zerg lived here, and he basically never went out, which allowed them to find a brief moment of stability.

But watching Mervyn return every day with an exhausted face, while he couldn’t help at all, he couldn’t help but feel very guilty and upset.

The words falling on his ears, the feelings of helplessness and self-loathing, the sorrow permeating his entire being.

All of this made the His Highness before him appear exceptionally fragile at this moment, as if one more light touch could completely crush him.

Mervyn’s heart ached beyond measure, as if it were being crushed, but he could only softly soothe him and say.

”Your Highness, none of this is your fault. They are just too blind and ignorant. The rumors will eventually collapse on their own. I heard that Bo Yisi is coming back soon! Your Highness has done so much for him; he will definitely clear your name, Your Highness, do not worry.”

Mervyn himself had never expected that one day, His Highness’s grievances would need to be cleared by that Military Zerg he hated so much.

Yes, he hated Bo Yisi. Bo Yisi had hurt His Highness, yet he had still become someone special in His Highness’s heart.

His Highness even felt that such a majestic eagle should soar across the sky, rather than being trapped in a corner.

Even though he subconsciously pushed him away due to psychological trauma, every action of His Highness spoke of endless partiality!

”Will he? If he gets involved with me and speaks up for me, won’t it implicate him?”

Hearing the name Bo Yisi, Lu Zhan’s emotions fluctuated slightly.

Mervyn just looked at the Male Zerg and nodded affirmatively, then said.

”Given Bo Yisi’s current status, this is but an extremely trivial matter for him; it will have no impact on him at all, Your Highness, rest assured.”

After hearing Mervyn’s words, Lu Zhan seemed to suddenly realize.

”That’s right, how could I have forgotten? Bo Yisi is no longer the Military Zerg who needed my protection; he is now the Empire’s Marshal!”

Mervyn felt that the Male Zerg’s tone was a bit strange, and he couldn’t tell if he was happy or melancholy about it.

But he didn’t think too deeply about it, because the Male Zerg before him had become much thinner. He felt heartbroken and distressed, but also very helpless, so he could only continue to comfort him slowly and firmly.

”Your Highness is never a burden. It is not that Your Highness cannot live without Mervyn, but that Mervyn cannot live without Your Highness. Being able to take care of and accompany Your Highness makes Mervyn very happy. So, Your Highness, please do not have any psychological burden. If you really feel guilty, why not take your medicine on time every day, eat on time, not let Mervyn worry, and focus on your work? Is that okay?”

After Mervyn finished speaking, he secretly cheered himself on in his heart. It seemed he needed to work even harder; he had to quickly find a more comfortable place for His Highness.

Lu Zhan heard this but said nothing.

He just quietly stared at the Military Zerg before him with silver eyes. Despite the face that was usually a bit fierce, it was exceptionally gentle now, and his red eyes were brimming with heartache.

His Highness’s eyes, as dazzling as stars, reflected his own small figure. In this instant, Mervyn felt inexplicably satisfied.

After a while, the Male Zerg seemed to have been soothed by the gentle Mervyn, and the self-loathing and sorrow surrounding him slowly dissipated.

”Mm, I will take good care of myself. You should too, Mervyn, take care of yourself and don’t make me worry.”

The peaceful words fell upon his ears. Mervyn looked at the now-calm His Highness, the corners of his lips curling slightly into a very soft smile.

”Your Highness, please read a book for a while; I’m going to cook. Oh, right, this is the medicine I just bought today. Please remember to take it on time every day.”

As he spoke, he placed the medicine packet he was holding in front of the Male Zerg, his expression somewhat serious, watching the Male Zerg with earnest eyes.

Lu Zhan nodded at this.

Mervyn, seeing His Highness so casual, felt a bit uneasy.

”Your Highness, you cannot again...”

Lu Zhan knew what Mervyn wanted to say. Before he could finish, he spoke directly, as if making a promise.

”I know, Mervyn. I will definitely take my medicine on time and in the correct dosage every day; I will never do it again.”

Having received such a definite answer, Mervyn finally set his mind at ease and turned to go to the kitchen to prepare a meal for His Highness.

It wasn’t that Mervyn was being overly anxious; it was because it had happened before. Given their current special situation, His Highness had tried to save money so that Mervyn wouldn’t have to work so hard.

He had secretly cut his daily dosage of medicine, which was supposed to be taken twice a day, by half. Fortunately, he had discovered that the dosage was incorrect in time, preventing any disaster.

His Highness had been born with an immune System defect; it was only one-tenth or one-twentieth of a normal Male Zerg, which could be described as pitifully low.

These medications were all to maintain His Highness’s weak immune System; they could absolutely not be reduced, and even less could they be stopped.

Otherwise, even a minor illness could keep His Highness bedridden for a long time, and if it wasn’t treated actively, it would become life-threatening.

It was for this reason that His Highness’s father had sent him to take care of him. He had once been a trusted aide to General Andria, but had later retired due to injury.

His Highness was truly wonderful—cold, noble, gentle, and kind. It was really hard for a Zerg not to be moved, right!

But Mervyn also knew clearly that he was far from worthy. Being able to silently wait by His Highness’s side was already enough to make him content and happy.

While thinking this, Mervyn’s hands did not stop for a moment as he skillfully prepared the ingredients that His Highness liked.
