Thunderstorm Asthma? I’ll Just Drain the National Power Grid!

124: Dominating the entire city solo! That’s true manly romance!Zhou Weiguo looked at Lin Yuan’s face, and his taut nerves finally relaxed.

It’s done.

This kid, though full of cheeky remarks, is always reliable at critical moments.

”Good!”

Zhou Weiguo slapped his thigh, feeling as if a heavy burden had been lifted, and a smile returned to his face.

”I knew you wouldn’t disappoint me!”

He walked around the desk and enthusiastically grabbed Lin Yuan’s arm.

”Don’t worry! For this mission, I’ll give you the highest authority!”

Zhou Weiguo held up a finger, spittle flying.

”From now on, you can directly access all intelligence channels of the pandora Project!”

”Across all of Huaxia, there are few with a higher intelligence clearance than you! If you find someone disagreeable, you can directly look up their information!”

He then held up a second finger.

”Logistics! Equipment! All resources of the branch will be allocated to you! As long as you can complete the mission, you’ll get whatever you want!”

”I’ll immediately assemble an elite team for you! All members will be personally selected by you! Whether they are ancient martial arts masters or elite psychics, you can pick whoever you want! Adjutant Su, will serve as your deputy, fully coordinating your actions!”

The more Zhou Weiguo spoke, the more excited he became, his eyes filled with the dawn of victory.

In his opinion, this was the highest level of treatment and support the Dragon Shield Bureau could offer.

However...

”Wait.”

Lin Yuan raised his hand, interrupting his long speech.

”Old Zhou, calm down first.”

Zhou Weiguo was stunned.

”What’s wrong? Are you still not satisfied with this setup?”

”Satisfied, very satisfied.”

Lin Yuan nodded, then changed the subject.

”But, I don’t want it.”

Zhou Weiguo: ”?”

Su Wanqing also showed a puzzled expression.

”I don’t need any elite team, nor do I need a deputy.”

Lin Yuan leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and reverted to his usual lackadaisical self.

”For this operation, I alone are enough.”

”Nonsense!”

Zhou Weiguo immediately rejected it without thinking.

”Lin Yuan, this is not the time for you to play the hero! How meticulous is the Apocalypse Society’s plan? Jiangcheng is so big, there must be more than one hidden formation core! How can you possibly handle it alone!”

”And if there’s a group of people, can they handle it?”

Lin Yuan pouted and retorted.

”Old Zhou, use your brain.”

”Those lunatics from the Apocalypse Society have been lurking in Jiangcheng for so long, they probably know the Dragon Shield Bureau’s modus operandi better than we do ourselves.”

”As soon as we form a special task force and start investigating with great fanfare, do you believe that within half a day, the news will reach their ears?”

”At that time, they’ll simply cut off all clues, hide deeper, and where will you go to find them?”

Zhou Weiguo opened his mouth, but found himself unable to refute.

What Lin Yuan said was true.

Although the Dragon Shield Bureau was powerful, its internal structure was not monolithic, especially against an organization like the Apocalypse Society with extremely strong infiltration capabilities.

”What is my biggest advantage?”

Lin Yuan pointed to his head.

”It’s my special ability.”

”I can scout every corner of the city like a ghost, without being discovered by anyone.”

”But if I bring a team, I’d have to explain every move to them, and wait for them to get into position. Then my advantage would be completely gone.”

Lin Yuan spread his hands, looking completely justified.

”Besides, teaming up means sharing the spoils. Why should I share the equipment and Materials I worked so hard to acquire with others?”

Su Wanqing: ”...”

She knew, this was his true thought.

Zhou Weiguo was stunned by Lin Yuan’s crooked logic, and he rubbed his temples.

He admitted that Lin Yuan’s analysis made sense.

Acting alone indeed had the smallest target and was the most flexible.

But the risk was too great!

”No! This is too dangerous! I cannot agree!” Zhou Weiguo flatly refused.

”Then don’t worry about me.”

Lin Yuan stood up and brushed the wrinkles from his clothes.

”Anyway, I already know the plan. If you don’t support me, I’ll do it myself.”

”You...”

Zhou Weiguo pointed at Lin Yuan, too angry to speak.

This kid was simply an immovable object!

He wouldn’t yield to either soft or hard tactics!

The office fell into a stalemate.

In the end, it was Zhou Weiguo who gave in first.

He let out a long sigh, looking several years older.

”...Alright.”

He waved his hand wearily.

”I can agree to your solo operation.”

”But, you must promise me one condition.”

”Say it.”

”Su Wanqing must serve as your emergency liaison officer.” Zhou Weiguo looked at Su Wanqing, his tone allowing no room for argument, ”She will not interfere with any of your actions, but you must maintain contact with her at all times, letting her know your location and status. If an accident occurs, she will be the first to support you.”

Lin Yuan glanced at the expressionless Su Wanqing and shrugged.

”Alright, no problem.”

A beautiful liaison officer who just makes calls, that’s acceptable.

”Also,” Lin Yuan added, ”I need the most detailed city power grid distribution map of Jiangcheng, including all abandoned and backup lines.”

”What do you need those for?” Zhou Weiguo asked subconsciously.

Lin Yuan grinned.

”Of course... to find a few good places to ’eat’ when it’s critical.”

Zhou Weiguo’s mouth twitched.

He waved his hand and said weakly, ”Get out! I’ll open the authority for you immediately! Hurry up and get out!”

”Got it!”

Lin Yuan gave a crooked salute and pulled Su Wanqing out.

”Let’s go, let’s go, Adjutant Su, we’re off work!”

Watching the two leave, Zhou Weiguo slumped powerlessly into his chair.

He picked up the goji berry tea on the table and gulped it down.

”This damn... is it reliable or not...”

Leaving Zhou Weiguo’s office, Lin Yuan was in high spirits.

Solo operation, maximum authority, all spoils for himself.

Was there a more satisfying mission than this?

He hummed a tune, swaggering on his way back to the dormitory.

Su Wanqing followed behind him, silent.

At the dormitory door, Lin Yuan was about to open it.

”Lin Yuan.”

Su Wanqing suddenly spoke.

”Hmm?”

Lin Yuan turned around and saw a seriousness on Su Wanqing’s face that he had never seen before.

”This mission is different.”

Her voice was very soft.

”Don’t die.”

Lin Yuan was taken aback.

He looked at Su Wanqing, his own reflection in her ice-blue eyes.

He suddenly grinned.

”Don’t worry.”

He leaned in closer, lowered his voice, and spoke in a volume only the two of them could hear.

”I’m just going out for a ’buffet,’ I’ll be back when I’m full.”

”If you miss me, you can call anytime to check up on me.”

Su Wanqing’s cheeks subtly flushed.

She took a step back, reverting to her unapproachable expression.

”Boring.”

She coldly dropped two words, turned and walked away, her back showing a hint of haste.

Lin Yuan watched her retreating figure, the smile on his lips growing wider.

He shook his head and pushed open the door to his dormitory.

”Click.”

As soon as the door closed, all the smiles on Lin Yuan’s face vanished.

He walked to the window, looking at the bustling city night view outside, his expression turning serious.

Fifteen million people.

This number felt heavy.

He took a breath, casting all distracting thoughts from his mind.

Now was not the time for sentimentality.

His thought shifted, and in his palm, the cracked silver mask appeared out of thin air.

【Abyssal Mithril Mask】

This was his greatest reliance for this operation.
