Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1543: Chapter 1537 Deep Father-Daughter Love _1 Chapter 1543: Chapter 1537 Deep Father-Daughter Love _1 “Very touching indeed. Seems like I’ve arrived at a bad time. You two carry on, I won’t intrude.” Qing Teng never imagined that she would witness such a scene here; the irony was indeed rich.

“Wait a moment, Wanyi.” The Grand Elder hadn’t expected Qing Teng would come to him. Seeing her face, so similar to her mother’s, his heart ached a bit.

“If there’s something Grand Elder needs to say, please do so.” Qing Teng blankly stared at the father-daughter pair. Some things she knew, just chose to keep within her heart, unrevealed.

Only she knew her own suffering. She felt it was unjust for her mother, however, she had to obey her mother’s wishes not to harbour resentment. That’s why she had agreed to leave the village when her mother had asked her to.

“Have you been well all these years?” The Grand Elder asked after a long pause.

“What an interesting question, Grand Elder. Of course, I’m fine. Even at first glance, you can tell that I’m doing well. If there’s nothing else you need, I’ll be on my way.” Qing Teng responded sardonically, finding it rather amusing that he would ask if she’s doing well.

How could she be fine? Sent away at such a young age, almost raped due to her beauty, but fortunately escaped thanks to her natural charm. She only managed to start living a normal life when she met the young mistress. But, the young mistress was involved in the underworld, and she ended up participating in all kinds of dark ventures. Could she possibly be well? Isn’t this question laughable? But whether she’s well or not, was her own business, irrelevant to others.

“As long as you’re well. It was your biological mother who requested that we send you away. As elders, we couldn’t refuse her. Seeing you now all grown up and doing well relieves me.” The Grand Elder indeed had a bitter taste in his heart.

She was his daughter, yet he had never been able to fulfil his fatherly duties. No one even knew she was his daughter. What could be more cruel than standing face-to-face with your blood relatives, unable to acknowledge each other?

“I understand, Grand Elder. Don’t worry about it. I’m aware of my mother’s intentions. I came back this time with the Holy Maiden to fulfil a promise I made to my mother. Once the Holy Maiden finds the root of the problem, I’ll resign from my position as protector and follow the Holy Maiden. From then on, Zhongzhai will have no Qing Wanyi. I hope the Grand Elder will agree to this request as readily as when he agreed to let me leave the village.” Qing Teng had almost forgotten that her original name was Qing Wanyi, taking her mother’s surname and a name given by her mother.

When she was young and didn’t understand, she would ask about her father. But each time, her mother would just grimly smile and look into the distance, followed by silent tears.

After many such incidents, Qing Teng stopped asking about her father. Until a few days before leaving the village, she had awoken in the middle of the night to find her mother missing. She found her outside, locked in a tight embrace with the Grand Elder, followed by a heated argument, then her mother’s heart-wrenching cries.

The next time she saw her mother, her mother directly disregarded her wishes and planted a love potion in her, telling her not to fall in love with anyone. She was to leave the village, find the Holy Maiden, and once the Holy Maiden solved the village’s problems, she was to leave and never return.

She cried and begged her mother not to force the love potion on her. But her mother just chuckled, watching her, and with a heavy heart, planted it in her anyway. She could feel the love potion disappearing before her very eyes, her own heart turning cold. She was now incapable of loving anyone in this lifetime. Otherwise, she would either die of heartache or her lover would die if they were intimate. Either way, it was not what she wanted.
