“Hm, I fell asleep.” Fang Hong, upon hearing her husband’s voice, roused herself from sleep and remembered he went to prepare something for her to eat.

“Your body is weak now, you should rest in bed more often. Have something to eat and then go back to sleep.” Xie Jun looked at his wife who had already given birth to their second child but appeared even younger than before. Looking at least five or six years younger than women her age, he was both proud and worried.

He would feel flattered when others commented on his wife’s beauty. Those who knew them would remark, “Mr. Xie, your younger sister is so youthful. Those who didn’t know them would exclaim: ” Mr. Xie, when did you find a new one? We feel guilty enough as it is, not being able to keep our wives company all the time, let alone make such a fundamental mistake.”

Every time such incidents occurred, he would feel mortified, whereas his wife would laugh uncontrollably before teasing him, “Mr. Xie, aren’t you afraid your sister-in-law might find out about us and make you kneel down and scrub the washboard?”

Hong’s cheeky remarks often left him both amused and exasperated. He discovered her vibrant side only after she started working under Qin Xue. Her lively demeanor, vivacious every day, had an alluring effect on him.

Last time when he was on holiday, they went shopping together. While his wife was purchasing some items, a man actually came up to him and said, “Bro, is your sister married? Can you introduce her to me?” He was so irritated that he nearly hit the man, afterwards moping about it for several days.

He had no idea how Qin Xue instructed Hong on her beauty regimen, but she definitely didn’t look like she was in her thirties, much less the mother of two children. Even Mr. Xu’s wife, who was around the same age as his wife, looked older in comparison.

Sometimes, Mr. Xu would even jokingly ask him how Hong managed to maintain such youthfulness and wondered if she could share some tips with his own wife.

Seeing his wife in such a state, he didn’t know whether to feel happy or sad. However, as long she was happy every day, he was satisfied. Now that she bore him a daughter, he was blessed with a perfectly complete family.

“What are you thinking about? Caught up in your thought, you didn’t even hear me.” Fang Hong called out when he showed no response, and gently nudged his arm.

“It’s nothing. Sweetheart, could you just be a little less attractive in the future? My heart can’t bear it. I’m always afraid someone is going to snatch you away from me.” Xie Jun stared at his wife, his deep affection making Fang Hong blush.

“That might be a good thing! Then you can marry a young, beautiful woman.” Even though these were her words, Fang Hong secretly savored the sweet feeling inside her heart. He had become quite adept at flattering her lately, often catching her off guard.

“What are you talking about? This life of mine is already blessed beyond measure because I got you. I’ll never abandon you as long as you don’t leave me. We’re going to be together till we grow old, and you must stop saying such things.” Xie Jun immediately scolded her after hearing what she said. If he let such a wonderful wife down, he was not worthy of being called a man.

“Ok, I won’t say it anymore. By the way, shall we inform Qin Xue and her family? After all, we owe it to Qin Xue for her help in curing my illness, which allowed me to conceive our daughter. She is, in a way, our savior. What do you think?” Fang Hong took a sip of the fish soup and, to her relief, found it not fishy at all; otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to stomach it.

“Of course we must inform them. They might be too busy to visit, but we should at least let them know.” Xie Jun was well aware that they owed their blessing to the Chu Molin’s family, especially Qin Xue, whose aid to theirs was beyond words. As the couple ate, they discussed this matter further.
