None of you know enough about this, there should be someone knowledgeable around.” Chen Lei had already arranged with Mrs. Xu to take care of their elders, and she planned to spend the night at the hospital with the new parents.

“But you have been running errands all day, is your body capable of taking on more?” Li Zhao looked at his mother. She had been doing most of the tasks throughout the day while he only accompanied his wife. Now seeing her mother stay here, he couldn’t bear to see her work so hard.

“It’s okay, we’ll take turns resting at night. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving everything to you. Don’t worry about me, I’ll just go home and rest tomorrow.” Chen Lei replied. Her son knew nothing about caring for a baby and his wife, so she had to ensure everything was alright, even if it meant getting a little tired.

“Alright, you go rest first, when An’an wakes up, I’ll call you.” Li Zhao fell silent after his mother’s words, he couldn’t argue with her.

“Sure, do call me if the baby cries. I’m afraid you won’t know how to change the diapers and might hurt the baby,” Chen Lei instructed her son.

“Got it,” Li Zhao responded.

Hearing her son’s words, Chen Lei went to the nearby caregiver’s bed to rest. It was not feasible for the two of them to keep waiting, they might end up not taking care of both the mother and the baby properly.

An Hao was woken up by the baby’s crying. She opened her eyes to see her husband and mother-in-law changing the baby’s diapers.

“Is the baby hungry?” An Hao remembered Qin Xue telling her that a crying baby is usually a hungry baby.

“Yes, she is hungry. Although you don’t have milk right now, you must let the baby suckle, otherwise, she won’t have anything to eat,” Chen Lei answered An Hao with a smile after seeing her concern for the baby.

“I see, I understand,” An Hao replied, remembering Qin Xue mentioning the initial breastfeeding pain. She had mentally prepared herself.

However, it wasn’t until An Hao started breastfeeding that she truly understood what it felt like. The initial prickling sensation made her feel proud, but when the baby couldn’t draw milk and cried harder, sucking even stronger, all An Hao felt was pain.

Back then, when Qin Xue spoke to An Hao about the pain, she only understood the sensation of discomfort. But now, she experienced it after enduring the horrendous pain of childbirth, and now, the pain of breastfeeding. She finally understood why mothers are often described as the greatest beings in the world.

“An’an, does it hurt a lot?” Li Zhao asked, noticing the change in his wife’s complexion.

“It’s okay, it’s not as painful as childbirth,” An Hao replied, looking down at the baby in her arms.

“If there’s really no milk, we can just use formula. You don’t have to endure this,” Li Zhao suggested, his heart aching for his wife.

“What do you know, always suggesting bad ideas,” Chen Lei chided, playfully slapping her son’s arm.

“No, Qin Xue said that breast milk is best for the baby,” An Hao refuted as soon as she heard her husband’s suggestion.

“I only made a suggestion, is there really a need for such a strong reaction?” Li Zhao was feeling a bit under pressure looking at his mother and wife.

If they insist on breast milk, that’s fine. His suggestion was merely out of concern for his wife’s well-being, plus he had the resources and the ability to afford formula.

Since both his mother and wife insist on breastfeeding, so be it. Yet, these two indispensable women in his life made it seem like he had committed an unforgivable crime.

He loved their daughter just as much, but was only concerned because his wife could not produce milk, and their crying daughter made his heart ache. It turned out Li Zhao’s talk about switching to formula was because he didn’t want his daughter to cry.
