Becoming an Immortal and Ancestor, Starting from the Clan-protecting Divine Beast

43: Chapter 43 Zhirou’s Past and the Path of DestinySeeing Chen Zhuyun looking completely bewildered, Ruan Zhirou chuckled softly, her breath fragrant like orchids: “Younger Brother Zhuyun, do you know about Luck?”

Chen Zhuyun regained his senses, his face flushed red, and he replied, “Of course I know.”

He was someone who had read storybooks and novels, so naturally, he knew about this thing called Luck.

The protagonists in those novels possessed great Luck, making Breaking through Realms as easy as drinking water. All sorts of Opportunities would arrive one after another, they could pick up Supreme Divine Artifacts just by walking, and even various Saintesses and fairies would throw themselves at them.

When he was young, he also fantasized about being the protagonist in a novel, riding the wind and wielding a sword across the world, traveling to the North Sea in the morning and Cangwu in the evening, with peerless beauties by his side, unrivaled across the Nine Provinces.

However, the year he turned seven, after testing and finding he had no Spiritual Root, he matured significantly overnight and saw through these unrealistic fantasies.

Staying grounded and diligently practicing martial arts was far superior to fantasizing.

“Destiny Dao is the path of Cultivation that utilizes Luck, taking Luck as its foundation, climbing the Immortal Path, and eventually shaking the myriad heavens.” Ruan Zhirou’s tone was leisurely, carrying an inexplicable meaning.

She paused, pointing to a patch of green grass near a small creek not far away: “Younger Brother Zhuyun, I am a little tired. Let’s rest there first.”

Chen Zhuyun nodded, having no objections.

The two walked to the edge of the creek and sat down. For a moment, the atmosphere became somewhat subdued.

Ruan Zhirou slipped off her shoes and socks, revealing a pair of small, exquisite jade feet. Her ten crystal-clear and smooth toes were lined up like pearls, and faint blue veins could even be seen on the pale white arches of her feet.

She dipped her feet into the creek and gently stirred the water, causing small ripples to splash up. This sight stunned Chen Zhuyun.

It took him a long time to snap out of it. His nose felt hot, and he was actually bleeding from the nose.

Chen Zhuyun quickly wiped it away. At the same time, he circulated the Crimson Sun Limitless Dao, forcibly suppressing the boiling, restless Qi and blood within his body.

“It must be the Crimson Sun Limitless Dao. This is the Dao of Extreme Yang, too radical, causing my blood and vitality to be overly vigorous, which is why this happened. I must quickly find the Divine Moon Primordial Record to balance it out.” Chen Zhuyun thought to himself.

Ruan Zhirou turned her head and burst into laughter. In that moment, she possessed a unique kind of beauty.

“Younger Brother Zhuyun, would you like to hear my story?”

Chen Zhuyun was stunned for a moment, then replied solemnly, “Zhuyun is not one to gossip or pry into others’ business. However, since Miss Zhirou wishes to confide, then Zhuyun will gladly be a listener.”

Ruan Zhirou stirred the creek water with her feet, reached up to remove her hairpin, and her dark hair cascaded down to her waist like a waterfall, making her resemble a Water Goddess.

“I was born into a scholarly family. My father was the Prime Minister of a mortal Dynasty, wielding immense power in the court, and my mother was a daughter from a prestigious family, a talented woman.”

“When I was four, a military coup occurred in that mortal Dynasty. The Emperor’s maternal uncle assassinated the monarch and seized the throne, then initiated a great purge. No one in the Ruan Family survived except for me.”

“It was my paternal aunt, she saved me. She foresaw the Ruan Family’s destined annihilation and did not intervene, only saving me, who carried the Destiny Dao Luck.”

“Afterward, I followed her, traveling across various places in Great Qi, stopping and starting along the way. We eventually arrived here at Liming Town and stayed for nearly ten years, which is the longest we have settled anywhere in all these years.”

Chen Zhuyun stood beside the beauty. After a brief silence, he spoke: “Destiny Dao Luck? Your paternal aunt valued this, which is why she saved you and kept you by her side?”

Ruan Zhirou stood up, barefoot on the grass, water droplets sliding off her feet. Her eyes were deep: “Destiny Dao Cultivators value Luck the most, especially those with great Luck. Staying near them yields unexpected benefits.”

“This is also why she chose to become a Midwife. This way, she can know which infants possess great Luck from birth, and which infants are beneficial to her Destiny Dao.”

“As long as she helps these children who bear great Luck rise, she can receive feedback from the Luck, thereby advancing her own Destiny Dao Cultivation.”

“This is the method of Cultivating the Destiny Dao. It is completely different from other Daos. The more people with great Luck she helps, the higher her Destiny Dao Cultivation becomes, until she reaches or even takes the position of the Destiny Dao itself.”

Chen Zhuyun was astonished. There was actually such a Dao in the world, and its method of Cultivation was simply unheard of.

“Miss Zhirou, since Destiny Dao Cultivation is related to Luck, why not directly seize the Luck of others to strengthen oneself, instead of spending time and effort helping people with Luck rise?”

This Young Master Chen thought of many things at once and voiced the doubt in his heart.

Ruan Zhirou was also startled upon hearing this. She had followed Ruan Yurong and Cultivated the Destiny Dao for twenty years, yet she had never thought about this aspect.

After Chen Zhuyun mentioned it, she immediately felt a chilling realization. In her heart, she developed a certain... unwarranted wariness towards Ruan Yurong, her paternal aunt.

She didn’t know why today, but she just wanted to confide in Chen Zhuyun. This Young Master Chen seemed to hold an inexplicable attraction for her.

“Is it the influence of Destiny Dao Luck, or the influence of a Divine Ability... or is he the person destined for me?”

Ruan Yurong’s heart was somewhat troubled. She circulated her Spiritual Power to evaporate the water droplets on her feet, hurriedly put on her shoes and socks, tied up her loose dark hair, tidied herself up, and restored her usual cold and aloof image.

Chen Zhuyun looked at the horizon and saw the sun setting into twilight. The sky was darkening, making it unsuitable for travel.

“Miss Zhirou, the hour is late. Should we continue traveling?” He looked at the beauty beside him and asked.

Ruan Zhirou lightly tucked a strand of hair, her voice soft: “Destiny Dao Cultivators are not skilled in combat, and you haven’t been at the Martial Dao Innate Realm for long. Even with your outstanding talent and powerful combat strength, traveling at night is still prone to accidents. Let’s make do here for the night.”

Chen Zhuyun nodded, then went to the nearby mountain forest to chop some firewood. He ignited it using his Crimson Sun Limitless True Qi, starting a bonfire by the creek.

The two sat opposite each other, staring blankly at the bonfire, neither speaking, their minds preoccupied with different thoughts.

Plop!

Just then, a carp much larger than an ordinary one leaped out of the creek and landed right at Chen Zhuyun’s feet.

He picked it up and looked closely. It was a large carp, entirely crimson, appearing full of spiritual essence and not like a mundane creature.

“This is a Red Scale Carp. I didn’t expect this stream to have this kind of Spiritual Fish.” Ruan Zhirou exclaimed in surprise, looking at the large crimson carp in Chen Zhuyun’s hand.

A Spiritual Fish is a treasure in its entirety. After Cultivators eat it, it can not only boost their Cultivation but also cleanse their bodies and wash away some Impurities.

For Martial Dao Cultivators, Spiritual Fish are even more valuable, having the effect of refining the Physical Body, strengthening the Qi and blood, and condensing True Qi. They are much more precious than ordinary Heaven And Earth Treasures.

“So this fish is called a Red Scale Carp.”

Chen Zhuxiao examined the large carp thrashing about in his hands. His heart stirred, and he immediately had an idea.

“Miss Zhirou, would you like to try Zhuyun’s cooking?”

A few imperceptible blushes crept onto Ruan Zhirou’s fair jade face. She nodded slightly: “Alright, then Zhirou will try Young Master Chen’s cooking.”

The two exchanged smiles, and the atmosphere became cheerful.

Afterward, Chen Zhuyun circulated the Crimson Sun Limitless True Qi and proceeded to make True Qi Roasted Fish.

Before long, the enticing aroma of roasted fish permeated the air, stimulating the appetite.

Chen Zhuyun controlled the Crimson Sun Limitless True Qi and handed the most essential part of the fish to Ruan Zhirou’s mouth.

The latter was not coy. She opened her mouth and gently bit into it. It melted instantly, and the fish aroma blossomed in her mouth.

“It seems Younger Brother Zhuyun’s cooking is quite good.”

The two finished eating the Red Scale Carp that had conveniently presented itself.

The night wind blew slowly, and nothing more was said. When the sky began to lighten slightly, the two rose and continued their journey, neither mentioning the events of the previous night.
