Becoming an Immortal and Ancestor, Starting from the Clan-protecting Divine Beast

4: Chapter 4 Crimson-Patterned Spirit Jade MushroomThree days later, in the Tianli Mountain Range, at Wangyue Cliff.

The great sun hanging high in the sky cast down infinite light. A vigorous old tree rooted on this cliff rustled, and its emerald leaves spiraled down, seemingly celebrating.

Yuan Feng’s consciousness gradually awakened. He shook his body, stood up directly, and stretched, a crackling sound like thunder emanating from within him.

”Taller, stronger, and more powerful.”

He clenched his fists; his muscles were knotted, his gray-black fur stood up like steel needles, and surging yao power coursed through his body, enough to smash a small hill with a single punch.

His original body, which was about three meters tall, had significantly bulked up, rising like a massive black pillar from the ground, giving off an immense sense of oppression just by standing there.

”Panel.”

After adapting to his changes for a while, Yuan Feng began checking the System Panel.

His Bloodline successfully evolved from an Ordinary Yao Beast Bloodline to an Advanced Yao Beast Bloodline. Not only that, but his Realm also broke through, advancing from Middle Stage Qi Refining to Late Stage Qi Refining.

”It seems Bloodline evolution can also drive Realm advancement, saving two earth origin fire lotus fruits.”

Yuan Feng was deep in thought. The Advanced Yao Beast Bloodline made his Foundation stronger than that of ordinary Yao Beasts, and most importantly, his upper limit was raised, allowing him to grow to the Foundation Establishment level.

Although Qi Refining and Foundation Establishment are only one Realm apart, the difference between the two is vast—a Foundation Establishment Cultivator killing a Qi Refining Cultivator is no different from slicing vegetables.

Besides the cultivation base increase from this Bloodline evolution, Yuan Feng gained another benefit: he acquired another Legacy Spell of the Tongbi Demon Ape Clan.

Guardian Vajra Body.

This Spell is a defensive type, primarily used to enhance one’s defense and strengthen close-combat ability. When paired with the Through-Arm Mountain Shattering Fist, it can achieve an effect greater than the sum of its parts.

Yao Beasts, following the Dao of the Bloodline, their most powerful weapon is their own body.

As for the 12 remaining clan destiny points, Yuan Feng checked the log. First, 8 points were spent evolving the Bloodline from Ordinary Yao Beast Bloodline to Advanced Yao Beast Bloodline. Then, 7 points were added after Chen Fufeng broke through to the Seventh Layer of Qi Refining.

This meant the net reduction was only 1 point.

Additionally, his Lifespan increased by 60 years, which was a pleasant surprise.

After understanding his changes, Yuan Feng dismissed the System Panel and looked toward Chen Fufeng’s location.

Having fed him two earth origin fire lotus fruits, Chen Fufeng was already at the Perfection of the Sixth Layer of Qi Refining before entering seclusion. Coupled with the large amount of medicinal power from the earth origin fire lotus fruit yet to be refined, breaking through to the Seventh Layer of Qi Refining this time was practically guaranteed.

Judging from the feedback provided by the Panel, Chen Fufeng had already broken through to the Seventh Layer of Qi Refining without any mishap.

”Right, I can speak now. No need for Voice Transmission.”

At this moment, Yuan Feng slapped his head. He was now a Late Stage Qi Refining Yao Beast, and the Transverse Bone had naturally been refined during the Realm Breakthrough, allowing him to Speak Human Language.

In his Bloodline memories, some Advanced Spirit Beasts could Speak Human Language from birth, possessing innate divine power and being quite extraordinary, requiring no refinement of the Transverse Bone at all.

Yuan Feng left the great tree and, in a few leaps, headed towards the place where Chen Fufeng was cultivating in seclusion.

He was already getting impatient. Staying in this desolate wilderness for nearly fifty years—saying it wasn’t boring or monotonous would definitely be a lie; he was practically suffocating.

Although he was a Yao Beast on the surface, his inner Soul was human, and thus social.

”Brother Yuan, you’ve arrived.”

Chen Fufeng, who was sitting cross-legged, opened his eyes. Two scarlet lights seemed to flash, captivating the Soul.

The Aura emanating from him was much stronger than three days ago, and the surrounding temperature had risen by several degrees because of him.

”No need for Voice Transmission, I’ve also broken through. We can communicate normally,” Yuan Feng said.

Joy flashed in Chen Fufeng’s eyes. The stronger Yuan Feng was, the more correct his choice proved to be. Signing a contract with him and bringing him back to the Chen Family as the clan-guarding Spirit Beast was definitely the biggest gamble he had ever made in his life.

”How is your Cultivation?” Yuan Feng asked.

Chen Fufeng stood up and replied with a smile, ”Since Brother Yuan has broken through, Fufeng naturally wouldn’t slack off. I have already broken through.”

Yuan Feng nodded and asked again, ”Now that both of us have broken through, it’s time to leave this place and head to your Family’s location.”

Chen Fufeng was stunned. Why did Yuan Feng seem even more anxious than he was, wishing to leave immediately?

”Alright, Brother Yuan, we’ll set off now and head toward Li...”

Before he could finish his sentence, a flash of scarlet light streaked through the distant forest. Both the man and the ape sensed it and looked over simultaneously.

”What is that?!” Chen Fufeng’s eyes widened, and his tone was extremely surprised. He hadn’t expected to encounter such a thing here—it was even more unbelievable than having his ancestral grave smoke with good fortune.

Yuan Feng glanced at him, his yao power surging. His figure shot out hundreds of meters in an instant, his voice echoing through the forest.

”Old Chen, let’s work together to capture it.”

Chen Fufeng reacted instantly. He took several Talismanic Incantations from his Storage Pouch with his left hand and activated them, transforming them into fire nets that swooped toward the location of the scarlet light.

Swish!

Unfortunately, the scarlet light immediately burrowed into the ground, causing the fire nets formed by the Talismanic Incantations to strike empty air.

The next second, a robust figure landed, stomping heavily on the ground. A wide fissure spread out, and black yao power swept forth like a tide, shaking the scarlet light hidden underground out into the open.

”Good opportunity!”

Chen Fufeng’s gaze sharpened. He formed a hand seal with his right hand, and the Li Fire Spiritual Power surged within his body, transforming into fiery red ropes. A sharp sound of rushing air rang out, like a dozen fire snakes darting forth.

Whoosh!

The scarlet light flickered, avoiding the fire ropes as if teleporting, instantly moving to the other side.

However, the crimson glow radiating from this Spirit Item dimmed considerably, seemingly due to great exhaustion.

Boom!

Before it could catch its breath, Yuan Feng mobilized the yao power within his body, sweeping over overwhelmingly to form a black cage that converged toward the Spirit Item at the center.

The ganoderma Spirit Item once again utilized the Earth Evasion Technique, escaping the moment the cage was about to trap it.

However, this time it wasn’t so lucky. A fire net gathered from Li Fire Spiritual Power had been waiting for a long time, trapping it firmly and gradually shrinking until it could no longer move.

”Phew, finally got it.” Chen Fufeng’s tone was excited. This was a Fire Attribute Spirit Item, whose value was immeasurably higher than the earth origin fire lotus fruit.

Yuan Feng walked forward, took the Spirit Item in his hand, examined it carefully, and asked, ”Old Chen, what kind of Spirit Item is this?”

”If I recall correctly, this should be the Fire Attribute Spirit Item, Scarlet-Patterned Spirit Jade Ganoderma.”

Chen Fufeng looked at the Scarlet-Patterned Ganoderma in Yuan Feng’s hand, his eyes shining brightly, happier than he was about breaking through to Late Stage Qi Refining.

”Scarlet-Patterned Spirit Jade Ganoderma?” Yuan Feng shook the ganoderma in his hand and asked, ”What’s the use of eating this thing?”

”Hehe, Old Yuan, this thing is very useful.” Chen Fufeng made an expression like he knew everything and introduced it:

”If a Cultivator wants to break through to the Foundation Establishment Realm, one way is to take nothing and break through naturally in a place rich in Spiritual Qi. This is the normal method of Breakthrough.”

”The second method of Breakthrough is taking a Foundation Establishment Pill, but Foundation Establishment Cultivators who break through this way generally have mediocre potential, slightly weaker than those who use the first method.”

”Besides these two methods, there is a third way: breaking through by consuming Heavenly and Earthly Spirit Items with compatible attributes. The Dao Foundation established this way is nourished by the Heavenly and Earthly Spirit Item, far surpassing ordinary Foundation Establishment Cultivators.”

Yuan Feng nodded slightly, inwardly astonished. The value of this Spirit Item that popped out of nowhere was actually this high.

Anything that allows a Qi Refining Cultivator to break through to Foundation Establishment is extremely valuable, let alone a Spirit Item, which is priceless and rarely seen on the market.

”In that case, you take it, Old Chen. I am a Yao Beast, and this is a Fire Attribute Spirit Item, which doesn’t align with my yao power.”

Just like that, Yuan Feng handed the ganoderma over. Chen Fufeng excitedly accepted it, placed dozens of Restrictions on it, and then put it into his Storage Pouch.

”Brother Yuan, Fufeng doesn’t know how to repay this kindness,” Chen Fufeng bowed, his tone serious.

Yuan Feng first saved his life, and now he didn’t even ask to split the Scarlet-Patterned Spirit Jade Ganoderma that they captured together, instead giving it directly to him, leaving him momentarily speechless.

”Old Chen, you just need to break through more Realms and have a few more children to repay me.”

Yuan Feng patted Chen Fufeng’s shoulder and slowly walked toward Wangyue Cliff, his hands clasped behind his back, looking like he didn’t care about anything.

He left Chen Fufeng standing there dumbfounded. What did he mean by ”have a few more children”?

What Chen Fufeng didn’t see was the look of heartache on Yuan Feng’s face, which was turned away from him.

After all, it was a Spirit Item—a rare treasure. It was false to say he didn’t feel pain.

However, Yuan Feng knew how to distinguish between peanuts and watermelons. His greatest reliance now was the clan protecting system.

And the System’s biggest function was the clan destiny points, which could be used to enhance various aspects. The acquisition of clan destiny points was related to the Realms of the Family members.

Therefore, the Scarlet-Patterned Spirit Jade Ganoderma would be far more effective in Chen Fufeng’s hands than in his own.

”Becoming an Immortal and founding an ancestry is not a delusion!”

Yuan Feng’s gaze was firm. He changed his direction, patrolled his territory once, and then returned to Wangyue Cliff.

Standing beneath the great tree, he reached out and touched the three-meter-wide trunk, whispering, ”Old fellow, I’m leaving. Thank you for your company all these years.”

Since arriving at Wangyue Cliff, he had conducted both his Cultivation and sleeping on this great tree.

Wangyue Cliff was somewhat mystical; its rocks were hard as iron. For this great tree to take root here, it must also possess some mystic qualities.

”When I reach Foundation Establishment in the future, perhaps I can take the entire Wangyue Cliff with me,” Yuan Feng thought internally.

A fiery red figure walked over—it was Chen Fufeng.

”Are you ready, Brother Yuan? Shall we set off?”

”Let’s go. Take me to see the outside world.”

Yuan Feng turned around, no longer lingering. To him, this place felt more like a cage, limiting his development.

”Uh, Brother Yuan, do you happen to have a Spell for shrinking your body?” Chen Fufeng stammered.

He had forgotten that if Yuan Feng walked out with his current size, it would likely attract too much attention, which was not a good thing for them.

Yao Beasts are treasures all over, and while parading around with a powerful Yao Beast could deter petty criminals, an open spear is easy to dodge, but a hidden arrow is hard to guard against. It was better to be cautious.

”Small issue!”

Yuan Feng chuckled lightly, activating the Size As Desired Divine Ability. His figure instantly shrank significantly, turning into a miniature Black Ape that landed on Chen Fufeng’s shoulder.

Then, he activated the Breath Concealment Art, retracting all his Aura inward. He looked unremarkable, just like an ordinary small wild ape.

Chen Fufeng watched this scene, clicking his tongue in wonder, feeling even more certain that he had struck gold by tricking such an extraordinary Yao Beast into becoming the Chen Family’s clan-guarding Spirit Beast.

”Old Chen, let’s go!” Yuan Feng used Voice Transmission.

”Got it!”

Chen Fufeng nodded, took two Talismanic Incantations from his Storage Pouch, and activated them with Spiritual Qi. Silver light flowed around them, and he pasted one onto himself and one onto Yuan Feng.

”This is a Tier 1 Medium Grade Talismanic Incantation, Silver Armor Talisman, which can withstand several attacks from Middle Stage Qi Refining Cultivators,” Chen Fufeng explained.

After completing all this, he selected a direction, and the Spiritual Qi around him surged, transforming into a crimson streak of light that shot into the sky, flying toward the area outside the Tianli Mountain Range.

”Old Chen, can Qi Refining Cultivators fly through the air?” Yuan Feng asked, looking at the forests rushing past below.

”Brother Yuan, you may not know, but the Qi Refining Realm is not the first Realm of Immortal Cultivation; it is the second,” Chen Fufeng replied while flying.

”Oh?” Surprise flashed in Yuan Feng’s eyes. It seemed this Xianxia world was quite... interesting. He asked again, ”I’ve lived deep in the mountains for a long time and haven’t encountered the outside world. I know nothing about the Cultivation World. Old Chen, could you perhaps tell me a bit about it?”

”Why not!” Chen Fufeng’s robes fluttered. He had already been planning to do so.

Just after the man and the ape departed, the great tree rooted on Wangyue Cliff rustled, seemingly bidding them farewell.
