Becoming an Immortal and Ancestor, Starting from the Clan-protecting Divine Beast

10: Chapter 10 ArrangementAfter a long period of tenderness with his wife, Chen Fufeng reluctantly left his home and walked towards the other houses located on the mountain, where the other two Cultivators of the Chen Family resided.

As for their relatives and children, they could only live below the mountainside. Only Immortal Cultivators or members of the Chen Family’s main lineage were allowed to live on the mountain.

Before long, Chen Fufeng arrived in front of a two-story courtyard, where a white-haired elder had already been waiting for a long time.

Seeing Chen Fufeng, the elder bowed and saluted, saying, ”Chen Wang greets the Family Head. May the Family Head ascend to Immortality soon.”

Upon seeing this, Chen Fufeng quickly helped the elder up and said, ”Uncle Wang, you are truly too polite to me.”

Chen Wang shook his head upon hearing this, his tone solemn: ”You are the Family Head, and you must have the dignity of a Family Head. Rules must be established, Fufeng, this is essential for a large Family.”

”Uncle Wang, I understand,” Chen Fufeng said seriously.

The elder in front of him was from Chen Family Village, an uncle-generation relative of Chen Fufeng. He had survived the unusual plague back then and was one of the survivors.

At that time, Chen Fufeng was already at the Second Layer of Qi Refining. He displayed some abilities that greatly astonished the villagers of Chen Family Village, who exclaimed that he had obtained an Immortal Legacy and held him in great respect.

Later, Chen Fufeng traveled extensively, endured hardships, and broke through to the Qi Refining Fifth Layer. He returned to Liming Town with Ji Wanqing, purchased Luoyun Mountain from the Tang Family, and established the Chen Family, a small Cultivation Family.

Chen Family Village naturally became part of the Liming Town Chen Family, with Chen Fufeng’s lineage as the main branch, and the other Chen clansmen as minor branches.

Chen Fufeng was also a clear-headed person, knowing that only with more Cultivators in the Family could it gradually grow stronger. Therefore, he passed down several Cultivation Techniques he had acquired over the years. However, the Crimson Central Separating Flame Art he obtained from an ancient Cultivator’s Immortal Cave was firmly kept by him and not passed on.

Unfortunately, after so many years, these minor branches of the Chen Family only produced two Qi Refining Cultivators: Chen Wang, who is at the Second Layer of Qi Refining, and another, Chen Bao, who is at the Qi Refining First Layer.

”Fufeng, it’s good that you understand.” Chen Wang made a gesture of invitation, signaling Chen Fufeng to take a seat first.

Chen Fufeng knew the nature of the person in front of him and said nothing, taking a seat first. Only after he was seated did Chen Wang sit down and pour him tea.

”I observe that the Family Head’s forehead is full and his eyes are bright, so I fear that this long journey has brought a Breakthrough in your cultivation,” Chen Wang said, handing a seven-tenths full teacup to Chen Fufeng.

The latter took it, took a light sip, and said, ”Uncle Wang’s eyesight is as sharp as ever. You guessed correctly; I have already broken through to the Seventh Layer of Qi Refining, becoming a Late Stage Qi Refining Cultivator.”

Splash!

Chen Wang accidentally spilled the tea, revealing his inner turmoil.

”As expected of the Family Head! Perhaps it won’t be long before our Chen Family produces a Foundation Establishment Great Cultivator, becoming a major Family that will shake Liming Town.”

Chen Fufeng put down his teacup, waved his hand, and said, ”It was merely a fortunate Breakthrough. I almost lost my life during this trip.”

”Then, Family Head, why have you come to seek me this time?” Chen Wang didn’t ask further but steered the conversation elsewhere.

Chen Fufeng’s eyes were calm, and his tone was solemn: ”Uncle Wang, I’ve come to you for two matters this time. The first is this.”

With that, he took out a bottle of Medicinal Pill and placed it in front of Chen Wang: ”Uncle Wang, I’ve seen all your efforts over the years. This is a first-grade Low Grade Spirit Condensing Pill, which can help Early Stage Qi Refining Cultivators condense spiritual power and clear their meridians, benefiting your Breakthrough to the Qi Refining Third Layer.”

Chen Wang’s hands trembled, his heart excited, and he quickly bowed in gratitude, saying, ”Chen Wang thanks the Family Head!”

To be honest, a Qi Refining Second Layer Cultivator like him was barely better than nothing for the current Chen Family, serving no real purpose other than perhaps teaching the younger generation and explaining basic Cultivation knowledge and the Hundred Solutions of the Immortal Dao.

As for combat, with his old bones, he probably couldn’t even defeat a Qi Refining First Layer Cultivator who specialized in fighting.

”Rise, Uncle Wang. My gains from this journey were decent, so just accept it.” Chen Fufeng displayed the dignity of a Family Head. In Chen Wang’s eyes, the Seventh Layer of Qi Refining Cultivator was no less than a majestic mountain, radiating a magnificent Aura.

Chen Wang put away the Medicinal Pill and sat back down, then heard Chen Fufeng continue: ”The second matter is a major one, crucial to the future prosperity and decline of my Chen Family!”

Just as Chen Fufeng was about to reveal Yuan Feng’s existence, a figure walked into the courtyard and bowed to Chen Fufeng from a distance: ”Chen Bao greets the Family Head.”

”It’s Chen Bao. I was just about to look for you. Since you’re here, sit down. I have something to tell you both.” Chen Fufeng glanced at the newcomer, his tone flat.

Chen Bao looked like a middle-aged man, but most of his hair had already turned white, indicating his advanced age.

”Oh, and this is a first-grade Low Grade Qi Condensing Pill, which can help you condense Spiritual Qi and clear your meridians, benefiting your Breakthrough to the Second Layer of Qi Refining.” Chen Fufeng raised a hand, and a bottle of Medicinal Pill appeared on the tea table, quite inferior to the one he had given Chen Wang earlier.

Chen Bao trembled all over, his expression excited. He took the Medicinal Pill in his hand and bowed, saying, ”Thank you, Family Head, thank you, Family Head.”

His talent was even worse than Chen Wang’s. For so many years, he had been stuck at the Qi Refining First Layer, only slightly stronger than a Cultivator at Yuan Nurturing Perfection.

If it were a Yuan Nurturing Perfection Cultivator born into a large Family, they might even be able to defeat him by transcending a realm, relying on their profound Foundation.

Although the Second Layer of Qi Refining is only one layer higher than the Qi Refining First Layer and still belongs to the Early Stage, it is always stronger than the Qi Refining First Layer and provides a greater sense of security.

Chen Fufeng nodded slightly, then signaled him to sit down, and continued, ”The Medicinal Pills are just one reason I came to see you today. The most important thing is what I’m about to say.”

His calm gaze suddenly became sharp, cutting through their minds like a knife, making them feel uneasy, thinking they had done something wrong.

”During this trip, I formed a contract with a Yao Beast and invited it to become the Clan-Guarding Spirit Beast revered by my Chen Family.

From now on, seeing it is like seeing me. Its status is above all future Family Heads after me. Your descendants, whether children or grandchildren, must show it due respect.”

”Even if I perish due to an accident, it will still help cover for us and protect my Chen Family. Do you understand?”

Chen Wang and Chen Bao nodded and said in unison, ”To the Family Head, Chen Wang/Chen Bao understands.”

Chen Fufeng was very satisfied with their performance, then continued: ”Since you both know about this, then make a Heavenly Dao Oath: you must not reveal the news that my Chen Family has a Clan-Guarding Spirit Beast. Those who violate it will be struck by five bolts of heavenly lightning, never enter Reincarnation, and their descendants will die a horrible death!”

”We respectfully obey the Family Head’s command!” Chen Wang was the first to react, cupped his hands, and then made the Heavenly Dao Oath.

Chen Bao followed suit and also made the Heavenly Dao Oath.

”May I ask, Family Head, what is the current cultivation of our Chen Family’s Clan-Guarding Spirit Beast?” Chen Wang asked, emboldened.

Chen Fufeng glanced at him and said casually, ”On our way back, it and I were ambushed by an Eighth Layer of Qi Refining Cultivator. That Eighth Layer of Qi Refining Cultivator was no match for it and was ultimately slain by me.”

Eighth Layer of Qi Refining!

The two exchanged glances, both seeing the word ”shock” in each other’s eyes.

Chen Bao was so excited he almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, Chen Wang quickly caught him, preventing a great embarrassment.

After all, an Eighth Layer of Qi Refining Cultivator was an extraordinary figure to them, a pillar of strength even in Peak Qi Refining families, second only to Peak Qi Refining Cultivators.

Chen Fufeng rose, took out a Cultivation Technique Secret Manual from his Storage Pouch, and placed it on the tea table, saying, ”This is the third-grade earth-attribute Cultivation Technique, ’Gen Earth Thick Yuan Art,’ which I obtained by killing a group of Robber Cultivators on the way back. Chen Bao, your Spiritual Root is compatible with the earth attribute. The Family previously had no third-grade earth-attribute Cultivation Technique. Make a copy of it and then place it in the Scripture Pavilion.”

The Chen Family had a Scripture Pavilion. Besides the fourth-grade Cultivation Technique, Crimson Central Separating Flame Art, and the fourth-grade Spell, Li Yang Sword Song, all other Cultivation Techniques he had acquired were stored within, serving as the Chen Family’s Legacy Foundation.

As for the Talisman Crafting Inheritance, it was not yet time to release it. Once the Chen Family grew to a certain extent, a first-grade Legacy would not be as important and could be made public.

”The Family Head’s kindness is greater than mountains; Chen Bao will never forget it!” Chen Bao’s words were sincere and heartfelt.

The reason he had been stuck at the Qi Refining First Layer was not only due to his poor Spiritual Root Aptitude but also partly due to the Cultivation Technique he practiced. A second-grade Cultivation Technique offered no hope of Foundation Establishment, produced weak Spiritual Qi, and resulted in slow cultivation speed, lagging far behind a third-grade Cultivation Technique.

Chen Fufeng did not respond, walking away slowly with his hands behind his back.

He walked along the paved stone path, circled his Luoyun Mountain, and finally entered the back mountain, going straight to the edge of the cliff.

Yuan Feng, who was meditating cross-legged, opened his eyes, looked over, and said in surprise, ”Old Chen, why are you here?”

Chen Fufeng leaned against the old tree, completely unconcerned about his image, and replied, ”Brother Yuan, I have already made it clear to the Chen Family members. Your status is equal to mine, and even higher than that of all future Family Heads after me. Future generations will see you as they see me.”

Yuan Feng laughed wryly, got down from the tree, and patted his shoulder, saying, ”Old Chen, you must have confidence! Perhaps you can achieve the Purple Mansion True Person or even the Golden Core True Monarch!”

”Then I’ll take Brother Yuan’s auspicious words. Before I become a Purple Mansion True Person or a Golden Core True Monarch, I must live well!” Chen Fufeng stood up, gazed at the sea of clouds ahead, and a surge of heroic spirit rose within him.
