Chapter 95 Old Capital Cloth Shoes, Could It Be Him?Chen Mo raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

Being given a zero repeatedly, he wasn’t a fool and naturally sensed that something was off.

Even if he hadn’t handled the details perfectly, overall, there were no major issues.

No matter how strict one was, it shouldn’t warrant a zero, right?

He soon guessed what was going on, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

Face!

From Elder Liu’s perspective, he was the same age as his granddaughter.

And he had come specifically to learn from him.

Whether it was status, age, or identity, Elder Liu was much higher than him.

But his own situation was somewhat special; his abilities were far superior to the average criminal police officer.

What was Elder Liu to do?

How was he supposed to teach him?

If he tried to find major flaws, Chen Mo wouldn’t make any.

He could only pick on minor issues.

So, in a way, it was actually his own fault for exceeding Elder Liu’s expectations.

To the point that he couldn’t praise him, and could only bite the bullet and find fault.

He glanced at Elder Liu’s back and saw that a large patch of his shirt was already soaked with sweat.

He felt like laughing, but he couldn’t do so now.

Regarding this, he could only say that Elder Liu had worked hard!

He hadn’t expected that just two grading sessions would put so much pressure on Elder Liu.

This pressure was almost on par with catching an A-level wanted criminal.

”Grandpa, why is there so much sweat on your forehead?”

Liu Fengxia’s gaze drifted to her grandfather’s forehead, and she asked nervously while reaching for a tissue.

Upon hearing this, Liu Qingwu’s heart skipped a beat.

Just then, Chen Mo spoke up.

”It happens when you get older, it’s quite normal.”

”Right, Elder Liu?”

Chen Mo’s face was calm, but inside, he found it quite amusing.

He was deliberately helping him save face.

”Haha, no wonder Chen Mo is in the same police station as Jianguo; he is truly perceptive!”

”You hit the nail on the head!”

Liu Qingwu nodded in agreement, while simultaneously giving Chen Mo a look that said, ’You kid are quite worldly.’

And in a spot where Chen Mo and Liu Fengxia couldn’t see.

He used his index finger and thumb behind his back to pinch the back of his shirt, pulling and pushing to fan himself, attempting to dry the soaked area on his back as quickly as possible.

Chen Mo didn’t expose him either; if he did, where would the old man’s pride go?

This was what you called silent understanding.

...

Half an hour later.

East District, Mingshan Road.

This was a mountain road; on the left was a cliff over ten meters high, and on the right was a hillside.

At this moment, Chen Mo stood on the hillside, looking down at the traffic passing by below.

All around him were knee-high weeds and fallen leaves from the trees.

From time to time, he could see bugs crawling out from under the leaves.

Since the pheasant was found here by the patient Huang Guofa, it at least meant that the pheasant had been active here.

Therefore... there was a certain probability that the body was on this mountain.

”I just received some information. There was a landslide on this road yesterday afternoon. There were no casualties, and the road reopened to traffic at three in the morning.”

Liu Fengxia walked over from behind and began explaining the situation regarding this road.

Then, she pointed to a location about three hundred meters to the left.

A landslide?

The three arrived at the site of the landslide.

The mountain slope formed an arc like a slide; judging by the marks, a few large rocks must have rolled down from here.

It was understandable why it had reopened to traffic by the evening even though the landslide happened in the afternoon.

Essentially, it wasn’t a problem with the mountain itself, but with the rocks. Once the rocks were moved, traffic could naturally resume.

Just then, a scent wafted into Chen Mo’s nose.

It smelled like air freshener.

Before climbing this mountain, he had already activated his sense of smell ability.

At this moment, the scent was to the right of the three of them, likely less than fifty meters away.

He kicked aside the weeds in front of him and walked over.

And the closer he got, the stronger the scent became to him.

Accompanying it was another distinct stench.

Chen Mo had smelled a similar scent many times!

It was undoubtedly the smell of a decomposing body.

Enduring the foul odor, he breathed a sigh of relief inwardly.

Having found the body, the case was now on the right track.

Kicking aside the weeds in front of him, a dirt pit came into view.

Inside the pit sat a suitcase with a hole in it.

The smell of air freshener and the stench of decomposition were emanating from the hole and the gaps in the suitcase.

His gaze quickly swept the surrounding area.

There were many animal claw marks on the suitcase, and based on the pile of dirt next to the pit, a scene formed in his mind.

The suitcase, originally buried underground, had been dug up by a group of small animals, which then gnawed at one corner of the case. Who knew how much time had passed before a pheasant wandered by and ate the meat through the hole.

”Strange, the smell of a decomposing body is usually very foul; why is it so faint?”

Liu Fengxia covered her nose with her hand, looking puzzled.

She had smelled the stench of decomposition before, but she just couldn’t get used to it; perhaps it was hardwired into her DNA.

In the past, no matter how she covered her nose with her hand, the smell wouldn’t disappear, but this time it wasn’t that heavy.

”Because dozens of bottles of air freshener were sprayed inside the suitcase, and the two smells mixed together.”

Under normal circumstances, the stench of a body is very hard to cover up, but if there’s enough of it, the scent can naturally be suppressed.

However, as time passes, if no new air freshener is added, the stench of decomposition will sooner or later break through, and it will be smellable from hundreds of meters away.

”I’ll notify our people to come over.”

Liu Fengxia said, picking up her walkie-talkie to notify the other colleagues on the mountain.

A moment later, everyone arrived one after another, and the forensic doctor put on their equipment and began the Autopsy.

Chen Mo’s gaze didn’t linger here for too long.

Instead, he used the suitcase as the center and carefully combed the surrounding area.

Searching for any possible lingering clues.

But he knew very well that the possibility of finding anything was very small.

Based on the level of decay of the body parts inside the suitcase, the time of death should be between one and two months ago.

Too much time had passed since the incident.

Just as he had searched a circle and was about to give up, he discovered a footprint under a tree in front of him.

At this moment, Liu Qingwu also walked over, his gaze falling on the footprint.

”Judging by the size, it should be a size 40 foot, which can be prioritized as likely being male.”

”Based on the fading of the footprint, it was left recently.”

”And the direction the toe is pointing...”

He said, looking at the suitcase five meters away.

Chen Mo nodded: ”Yeah, from this distance, the owner of this footprint saw the body.”

”But he didn’t call the police...”

If he had called the police, the criminal police team would definitely have come to check.

Naturally, there wouldn’t have been that earlier speculation at the hospital.

”I always feel like this sole pattern is somewhat familiar.”

Chen Mo rubbed his chin; he kept feeling like he had seen it somewhere before.

But he couldn’t remember for the moment.

”That’s normal, these are Old Capital Cloth Shoes, old people wear them quite often; I have several pairs myself.”

Liu Qingwu explained to Chen Mo.

It was precisely these words that made Chen Mo blink.

A face involuntarily appeared in his mind.

Familiar sole pattern, an old man.

Could it be... him?

But.

The Dragon Kingdom is vast and rich in resources, there are so many places to travel to.

It couldn’t be such a coincidence that he also came to Luocheng, right?
