Chapter 64 A Surprising MoveHengtian Xiao: [Moderator, are you sick? We’re here discussing cannibal movies, and you keep posting this stuff all day. Who cares if they use seasoning or not? Just a bunch of underdeveloped humans.]

Taotie: [Cannibalism is just a culture. In reality, they are people too. You should respect other people’s culture.]

[...]

A long flame war followed.

From these conversations, Chen Mo discovered that the moderator was defending cannibals, refusing to admit that cannibalism was immoral or a sign of being uncivilized, but rather a form of culture.

This person’s second post was: ’Assuming cannibals lived in modern times, how would they make their food taste better?’

Only one person replied to this post.

[Raw marinating, I guess. I just had raw marinated seafood yesterday.]

And this reply was liked by Taotie.

By now, Taotie’s suspicion was basically confirmed.

The content of the two recent posts was identical to the situation of the kidnap victims in this case.

”Look up this person’s information.”

Chen Mo handed the file to Xiao Zhang, his index finger pointing at the name ’Taotie’.

”Is there something wrong with this person?”

Seeing Brother Mo’s serious expression, he stopped asking further.

”I understand.”

Watching Xiao Zhang’s retreating back, Chen Mo turned around to face all the police officers in the living room.

*Clap clap.*

Everyone looked over at him.

”No need to look at the files anymore. The suspect has been found.”

”Get ready. We’re making an arrest soon.”

Huh!?

They found the kidnapper?

Looking at their expressions, Chen Mo explained the clues he had seen in the files.

Ten minutes later, Chen Mo’s phone rang.

He picked it up and saw it was a call from Xiao Zhang.

”Brother Mo, I’ve tracked the IP address. It’s at Fuli Jiangwan in the South District, Building One.”

”I’ll send you Taotie’s personal information via text message.”

Hanging up the phone, Chen Mo signaled everyone to set out.

...

...

Fifteen minutes later.

South District, Fuli Jiangwan.

Xiao Zhang had arrived before Chen Mo.

”Brother Mo, did you look at the information?”

”This person is just as I predicted—he’s very strong!”

His tone was a bit excited; the sense of satisfaction from a correct prediction was very strong.

It would be even better if Brother Mo could praise him right now.

”I’ve seen it.”

Chen Mo said as he walked upstairs.

According to the information, Taotie’s real name was Pei Zhipeng. He was 36 years old, unmarried, and had become a coach after graduating from a martial arts school. He had once injured someone during an argument and served six months in prison.

His parents died when he was very young, and he was raised by his grandmother. He currently lived alone.

”Is that so? Looks like my prediction was right.”

”What do you think?”

Xiao Zhang followed behind him, speaking with an expectant look.

At the same time, he was a bit anxious.

”Yeah, it’s correct.”

How could Chen Mo not see through his little thoughts? His Micro-expressions hadn’t been upgraded for nothing.

He hadn’t praised him before just to tease him.

”Haha, it’s mainly because you taught me well, Brother Mo.”

Being praised by Brother Mo felt different from being praised by colleagues.

For a moment, his grin almost reached his ears.

He couldn’t suppress it no matter how hard he tried.

Outside Room 301.

Xiao Zhang took a tool out of his pocket that looked like a wire but wasn’t, and poked it into the door lock.

He whispered.

”A criminal I once caught taught me this.”

*Click.*

The door opened in response.

Everyone rushed inside instantly.

What met their eyes was a slightly cluttered living room.

Many A4 papers were scattered on the floor; some were crumpled into balls, while others had footprints on them.

Near the balcony was a computer, and behind the computer were a bookshelf and a whiteboard.

Chen Mo walked over and stopped in front of the whiteboard.

A lot of information was written on it, such as purchasing shoe covers, gloves, and hoods; the security guard’s sleeping schedule; the garbage truck workers’ shift times; contingency plans in case of an accident; and even the profiles of Wen Lu and Xiao Yuqing.

As he was looking, Xiao Zhang walked over with a grim face.

”Brother Mo, we didn’t find him. He’s probably not home.”

As he spoke, he noticed the content on the whiteboard.

He immediately said indignantly, ”No wonder we couldn’t find anything. This Pei Zhipeng really did his homework!”

The content on the whiteboard was densely packed.

Almost every step of the crime had been considered.

While he was fuming, he suddenly saw a name.

”Brother Mo, there’s another name on here. Could this guy have gone out to commit another crime?”

Looking at the last name on the whiteboard, he felt a headache coming on.

Because the name of the third target...

Was Li Yao!

Why her!?

”Brother Mo, is it the one we met before?”

”Yes. Look at the plan he made; entering disguised as a vice officer. It can only be that Li Yao.”

Xiao Zhang slapped his leg and said hurriedly, ”Then what are we waiting for? If we head over now, we might run right into him!”

Seeing his haste, Chen Mo shook his head.

”It’s too late. Li Yao works at night. According to the plan he listed here, he already acted last night.”

”And now, he’s likely waiting to start his ’meal’ or has already started.”

The atmosphere in the room instantly froze.

Panic!

Everyone became anxious upon hearing this.

What should they do?

What should they do now?

Calling Pei Zhipeng was one option.

But the risk was high.

It was uncertain whether Pei Zhipeng had already started killing.

If he had already killed the first person, calling him now would mean the remaining two would certainly die.

Knowing he was being watched by the police and facing a dead end, he would naturally try to take as many with him as possible.

Taking one down with him wasn’t a loss; taking two was a massive gain.

”Calling is too risky.”

Chen Mo rejected the suggestion.

In an instant, that icy-cool sensation surfaced in his mind again, like eating an extra-cool mint—very comfortable.

He exhaled. ”He must be somewhere preparing to ’eat.’ Does he have any other properties under his name?”

”Only this house. There are no others.”

Xiao Zhang looked through Pei Zhipeng’s information and answered with certainty.

”I’m afraid he’s taken the imitation to the extreme and brought the three of them into the deep mountains and old forests.”

This was his greatest concern.

If that were the case, it would be too difficult to find them.

Is the pressure of a C-rank case this high?

Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

It seemed he had to use an unconventional tactic.

”Doesn’t Pei Zhipeng have a grandmother?”

”Find his grandmother immediately.”

”Then, using the tone of an emergency responder, tell him his grandmother was in a car accident and he needs to come back to sign some papers, otherwise they can’t perform the surgery.”

Hearing this, Xiao Zhang and the other officers were stunned for a moment, their mouths hanging slightly open.

But in just an instant, they understood the intention behind it.

”Brilliant! This move is brilliant!”

”Damn, it might seem a bit underhanded, but Pei Zhipeng was raised by his grandmother and they’re very close. He’ll definitely come back!”

”Great idea! Since we can’t find him anyway, we might as well let him come to us!”

One by one, they looked at Chen Mo with unspeakable admiration.

This method was a bit of a low blow, but it was truly effective.
