Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1494: Defense Border Part 9

”Whoa whoa whoa, that’s some heavy accusation right there!” Xu Feng quickly exclaimed when Cedric tried to get Karoos to act.

He was indeed trying his best to stall, so how could he allow Cedric to urge Karoos to make a move?

Thankfully, Xu Feng knew how prideful and egoistic these Demon Lords were.

They believed themselves to be above all beings and that everyone else was a mere ant who should have submitted to them.

Of course, they completely chose to have selective memory and forgot how they lost the Battle of Gods and were banished to Hell.

”Are you not stalling right now?” Cedric snapped and cursed. ”Back in the wilderness, you also stalled me with your flowery words!”

Whenever Cedric recalled how he was fooled by this mere ant, he felt his face burn in humiliation.

”A Demon Lord is present, and you all got that I’m stalling. Or are you saying the Demon Lord isn’t worthy or slow in the brain that it needs your constant reminder?” Xu Feng questioned his intention.

Sure enough, the incitement that Xu Feng created instantly caused Karoos to glare at Cedric.

”I do not need you to tell me what to do,” Karoos snorted at Cedric with a disdainful tone.

Cedric was only a mere Demon Elite whilst he was a bona fide Demon Lord.

How dare a mere elite tell a lord what to do?

That was preposterous!

”T-That was not my intention, Lord.” Cedric panicked and hurriedly tried to explain himself.

However, Karoos had lost patience because he felt his pride and ego had been undermined by Cedric.

This remained true even though he was able to come to the Divine World thanks to Cedric.

After all, a lowly demon must show absolute reverence to higher-ranking demons.

That was the hierarchy’s ironclad rule since ancient times!

”It better not be.” Karoos coldly said and turned his attention to Xu Feng.

”And you, why does it seem like you know a lot about our race?”

As prideful as Karoos was, the reason why he hadn’t made a move was because of how composed Xu Feng was.

Just take a look at Kong Ming!

Despite being a Tier 4, he was feeling the pressure and was struggling to resist his demonic aura. In contrast, Xu Feng not only resisted at an alarming rate, but he also didn’t even emit any signs of fear.

Was he not scary and threatening enough?

Absolutely not!

With a few words of his toward Cedric, the latter immediately caved. That meant the summoning process didn’t go awry, and his demonic aura was still active.

”Would you believe me if I said I’m a baptized person, so fighting me will be your biggest mistake?”

”Baptized?”

It took Karoos a few moments to recall the terminology. And when he did, his face twisted in an ugly expression.

To those unaware, baptized people had a blessing effect that would deal extra damage to Demons.

”Is that your threat?” Karoos asked, his interest rapidly waning.

At the cliff, Xu Feng realized he could no longer stall Karoos. He had some information regarding some of the Demon Lords, but definitely not Karoos.

The topics he said earlier were the most common, so to stall for such a long time was already a blessing.

”Kong Ming, the fight’s about to begin. You’ll take on the Tier 4 Summoner Cedric. Leave the Demon Lord for me.” He whispered to Kong Ming.

Kong Ming didn’t want to agree because that would mean sending him to face the strongest opponent.

However, in their circumstances, Kong Ming really couldn’t stand up straight against Karoos.

At least in front of Cedric, he could still stand a chance.

Not to mention, he was thoroughly impressed with Xu Feng’s courage.

He could have evacuated like everyone else, but nope. He chose to stay and fight, whilst fully knowing the dangers here.

”Please be safe, Lord.” Kong Ming said solemnly.

DING!

[Kong Ming’s Loyalty has risen to 80! New features unlocked in the Rapport Status!]

Xu Feng was dumbfounded by a system prompt. He hurriedly opened the rapport status and realized a buff was triggered.

Kong Ming’s buff: the user who gained Kong Ming’s trust would receive an immunity that lasts for 5 seconds. The cooldown is 10 minutes.

’Oh, Kong Ming, you really are the best strategist.’ Xu Feng’s certainty of stalling Karoos soared by another 5 percent after seeing the immunity buff.

Sometime later, Kong Ming kicked the ground and propelled toward Cedric.

He flickered his hand and sent a series of lightning bolts at him.

”Come at me if you have the guts and change the battle location.” He then provoked.

As if that wasn’t enough, Kong Ming made sure to taunt Karoos. ”Or if your Demon Lord is actually a weakling and requires your existence as bodyguard.”

Sure enough, Karoos was triggered when his Demon Lord status was repeatedly being undermined.

”Go and kill him.” Karoos turned to Cedric and said in a chilling tone.

’Seriously?’ Cedric was rendered speechless at the Demon Lord’s command.

Why should they split off?

The two of them combined could have easily finished them off.

’Fuck, why did my summon have to be a retarded demon lord?’ Cedric cursed silently. Their tactic of provocation was so low-level, especially Kong Ming’s clear intention of separating them.

His ragebaiting wasn’t even close to that of Xu Feng.

”What are you still standing here for?” Karoos snapped.

The longer he lingered, the more he felt annoyed that others perceived him as a weakling who needed a mere demon elite to assist him in battle.

”Yes, my lord!” Cedric gnashed his teeth and began to pursue Kong Ming. As long as he killed Kong Ming fast enough, he could return to the field and ensure Xu Feng wouldn’t be able to rat away like last time.

A few seconds later, the defense border only had Karoos and Xu Feng remaining.

”You claimed to be baptized, so let’s see if that’s true or a lie.” Karoos grinned menacingly, his wings rapidly expanding.
