Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1484: Bardmon City Part 14

Kong Ming chose to reveal his identity because he had achieved the objective.

He wanted to test Xu Feng’s character.

And he knew very well that the reason he exposed this list to him was to get him to come clean about his identity.

”As I’ve expected, you aren’t even surprised.” Kong Ming chuckled softly.

”It’s kind of hard to not see it even if my vision is somewhat terrible.” Xu Feng shrugged and pointed out the numerous flaws. Although Kong Ming acted well as a lowly person in the military, the soldiers’ and other people’s behavior was hard to control.

Kong Ming nodded in agreement. He already anticipated that his people would find it difficult to treat him like some nobody.

It was the equivalent of suddenly telling a servant of the emperor to suddenly treat the latter as if he were a mere peasant.

They would receive the command and try their best to fulfill it, but those with discerning eyes could easily tell them apart.

”I wish to keep the current dynamics, to be honest.” Kong Ming explained. ”One without all those formalities and whatnot.”

”Agreed.” Xu Feng nodded. Despite being a viscount, he never once acted on behalf of this status toward others.

Or more precisely, he was not suitable to behave like those hypocritical nobles.

The flattery or pretentious behavior was something he despised heavily.

”Let’s not brood over this topic for now.” He then suggested and reminded Kong Ming that there was still a fierce battle up ahead.

Kong Ming nodded.

Sometime later, the two arrived at the front of the defense border.

The soldiers quickly saluted Xu Feng, but tried their best to avert their gaze from Kong Ming.

”He already knows the truth, so no need to hide it anymore.” Kong Ming quickly said.

The soldiers paused for a moment to process the statement.

Soon, they all stood in uniform and saluted respectfully to Kong Ming.

”Greetings, City Magistrate!”

”Now I feel like a fool, to be honest.” Xu Feng suddenly joked, referring to the time when he promoted Kong Ming as the commander-in-chief.

”How could you be a fool?” Kong Ming quickly denied his self-deprecation.

”What I’ve seen is someone who utilized talents regardless of their background or rank. You can differentiate whether one deserves to be punished or not.”

Xu Feng smiled bitterly in response.

”I’m kind of curious now. Why are you hiding your real identity? It can’t be to fend against or test me, right?” He asked.

”My position is too sensitive.” Kong Ming exhaled softly. ”I alone cannot defend Bardmon City from the corrupt. The best I can do is to actively avoid them, but that isn’t a permanent solution.”

”And then?”

Xu Feng reckoned there was more to what he wanted to imply.

He didn’t dare to jump to conclusions despite having some clues about it.

”You are quite shrewd sometimes, Viscount Lin Feng.” Kong Ming suddenly smirked and whispered. ”Haven’t you been trying to recruit me all this time?”

”Haha, you’ve caught me red-handed.” Indeed, talking to smart people saved a lot of time and effort.

Since Kong Ming had already made it so obvious, Xu Feng wouldn’t hide his intention any further.

”Truth be told, Bardmon City can’t really be considered a city. It’s even more inferior to your Haven Wind Town.” Kong Ming pursed his lips. The Bardmon City was stationed very close to the defense border.

Aside from some folks who couldn’t migrate to a better living environment, the majority of the population here were soldiers or those who chose to become active ones.

’Looks like he has investigated me hard already.’ Xu Feng mused inwardly.

The fact that his Haven Wind Town was brought up made it super obvious what Kong Ming intended to do.

He wanted to establish a Teleport Platform between Bardmon City and Haven Wind Town.

With the vast resources available in Haven Wind Town, the living environment in Bardmon City would certainly improve.

Of course, Xu Feng would also benefit heavily because he could directly send his people to Bardmon City’s defense border to consistently train in real battles rather than simulations.

As much as the training hall simulation was fabulous, there were still limitations, and players still needed to actively train outside the simulation.

After all, a simulation could never truly replicate what a real opponent would do.

However, it remained evident that the greater benefactors of this decision would still be Bardmon City.

While Xu Feng remained silent, Kong Ming cupped his fist.

”As City Magistrate, I’m helpless in the face of so many powerful nobles. As long as you agree to establish a Teleport Platform between the city and your town, I’m willing to become your strategist. The premise is that you won’t fail your people and won’t extort the commoners.”

DING!

[Hidden Character, Kong Ming, has offered his allegiance. Upon accepting, the player will soon open up a character interference detailing Kong Ming!]

[Payment fee: 10,000 gold coins]

Xu Feng’s mouth instantly twitched when he saw the outrageous payment fee.

’Does the payment fee include the cost of the teleport platform?’ Xu Feng checked on the payment fee, only to breathe a sigh of relief when it was indeed included.

The Teleport Platform fee alone took up 5,000 gold coins, mainly because the distance between the two was really outrageously far.

”Very well, I’ll accept you.” Xu Feng nodded and paid the fee in a heartbeat.

For 10,000 gold coins, he managed to bag himself a reincarnated Kong Ming, which was a great bargain.

”Thank you, Viscount Lin Feng.” Kong Ming’s eyes lit up when a heavy boulder was lifted from his weight.

He believed only someone like Xu Feng could resist the pressure from the high nobles and remain moral.

Sure, he was a bit shrewd and cunning at times, but it was evident that he never took advantage of a crisis and extorted the poor. That was all Kong Ming needed to know, especially with the interaction he had with him.
