Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1231: Viewership Broken

”This is the viewing mode. To those who already have some VIP level, their viewing mode is set to Standard.” Xu Feng explained, having purposely made it difficult for the consumers to learn of the process.

This was the human psychology method of ensuring a customer’s loyalty!

The more difficult it was to obtain their desire, the greater they would cherish it later on.

”This viewing mode is just a blatant scam.” Carmen clicked her tongue. She was exasperated that Xu Feng could even come up with something this devious.

Still, she asked, ”Do I also need to purchase the $10 VIP viewing mode?”

”Of course, not!”

Xu Feng sweated profusely and hurriedly showed her the Guild Mode. ”Because you have linked and verified with the account, you have the Guild Mode.”

The Guild Mode corresponded to a member’s rank, and with Carmen’s prestige in the guild, she was instantly greeted with all the episodes and unlimited credits in the account.

To gamers, this was commonly known as the developer account that had access to everything free of charge.

”Why didn’t you do this in the first place?” Carmen was clearly still displeased that her immersion in the drama was interrupted repeatedly.

”Hehe, I just wanted to let you experience what others are currently experiencing. That way, you wouldn’t be kept in the dark.” Xu Feng already reckoned he was being cursed as blackhearted and lunatic by many viewers.

However, he didn’t care about those verbal attacks.

After all, he was certain that the quality was indeed amazing to pull such a stunt.

Even if he may be cursed, these people would still willingly throw him money just to watch the next episode.

Now that the short drama was destined to reach the trending, a social class disparity would also be created: those who watched advanced episodes and those who didn’t.

Those who didn’t would definitely become sidelined from the topic and discussion of the short drama. So if they want to remain relevant and join the group, they must also cough up money to watch advanced episodes.

Some might call him despicable, but this was just business. Xu Feng never forced them at gunpoint to spend money to watch his short drama.

’I’ve invested so much in the production already. If I don’t get them back, then I might as well jump into the ocean.’ His money was all hard-earned.

He wasn’t some wealthy generation that could just extend its hand out to his family and get money.

While Xu Feng was expecting some familiar people to call his phone to complain, his phone actually rang.

”Hmm, let’s see who it is.” Curious, he retrieved his phone and realized the caller was Zhao Xin.

”Ah, it’s this bane...”

His mood turned sour in the blink of an eye. This woman was really poisonous. Not only was she Zhao Kai’s sister, but the Oasis Hotel was also a part of her subsidiary.

In other words, she was definitely calling him with vile intent.

”If you don’t pick it up, then she might charge us the hotel room fee.” Carmen suddenly reminded him. Having been in the guild for so long and having interacted with Zhao Kai, she naturally knew about Zhao Xin’s identity and her connection with the hotel.

”You’re right.” Xu Feng clicked his tongue and picked up the phone.

”Yo, took you a while to pick it up. Is sister really that scary?” Zhao Xin’s voice quickly resounded from the phone.

”Not scary at all.” He replied lightly. Though silently, he was already thinking about what kind of scheme she had in mind.

Despite knowing that the Vanguard Guild was producing a short drama, she actually held no desire to invest money.

That didn’t align with her business motto and mindset!

”Your viewing mode tactic is really nasty, Feng.” Zhao Xin suddenly said.

”I was warned by my little brother to not dabble in your production, so I adhere to it. But aren’t you being a little bit too cruel to this sister who wanted to support your drama? I’m getting hit with a paywall and forced to wait for more episodes.”

Having heard that, Xu Feng realized his deduction was wrong.

’So it was Kai’s doing...’ No wonder he felt something was off with Zhao Xin’s lack of action.

”Apologies, Sister, but you’ll have to wait like normal people.” Xu Feng flatly refused to give her special privilege.

As long as one person received it, then nearly everyone would be doing the same.

He couldn’t possibly allow that kind of scenario to happen.

While Xu Feng held such a determined stance, Carmen felt her heart pounding.

’Heh, special privilege is only for me.’ She had texted Veronica and inquired about her Guild Mode.

Who could have known that Veronica also had to pay to watch the latest episodes?

However, as her bestie, Carmen naturally shared her personal account with Veronica, enabling the latter to also receive the same benefit.

After all, Veronica deserved some rest from managing the guild’s affairs.

Sometime later, Xu Feng decisively ended the call to prevent Zhao Xin from seeking greater benefits.

...

Zhao Enterprise

Shortly after the call ended abruptly, Zhao Xin’s expression turned ugly.

”I’ve told you that this Feng has changed.” Feng Qing Rou mused. ”We can only watch up to 10 episodes.”

”This Feng is really infuriating me!” Zhao Xin pursed her lips.

She and Feng Qing Rou were in episode 2, and they realized the quality, plus the script of the short drama, was fairly high. Since that was the case, she wanted to gain access to more than just 10 episodes.

Little did she know, she was not only given the cold shoulder, but she also had to pay for each episode.

”Live in my hotel, use my location as a shooting set... but still make me cough up measly $3.”

”Okay, stop the stall and click on episode 3 already,” Feng Qing Rou urged.

”The viewership has been broken already. Many viewers were commenting on the scene, so we can’t lose to them.” She continued.

Because the Vanguard Guild believed in transparency, viewership data could be accessed by all users at any time. The data itself was updated in real-time, allowing viewers to see and understand the significance of their short drama.

Such a tactic was truly unheard of, yet extremely effective.

To the viewers, seeing their contribution was directly related to the viewership rising in real-time, and it was like an intoxicating drug to them.
