Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 514: Cat-and-Mouse Chase

Many might be confused as to how he survived the onslaught assault and emerged in another spot unscathed. But the truth was rather simple once revealed.

With Flint by his side, Xu Feng simply needed Flint to Burrow extremely deep and create a tunnel for him to escape.

And because Flint was a professional upon birth, the moment the Sentinel had appeared in front of him and was about to launch an attack, Xu Feng was already being sunk deep in the hole that Flint had dug.

This was also the reason behind the large gaping hole beneath the ground when the Sentinel was scrutinizing the scene.

Of course, it sounded simple when spoken, but the truth was that it required meticulous calculation and timing of the Sentinelʼs action.

Act too late and he would have been killed.

Act too fast and he would have been exposed, resulting in the Sentinel having more arsenal assault in his kit.

Thus, the timing was the most critical part, because the effect of success in swindling the Sentinel was going to change the tide big time.

Similar to players having skill cooldowns, the boss also had their own cooldowns. Otherwise, if they could repeatedly launch their ultimate skill without any restriction, then no one could ever complete a raid.

Therefore, Xu Fengʼs first plan in dealing with the Sentinelʼs third phase was to make them exhaust all their attack skills, putting them all in cooldown. By doing so, the threat level of the Sentinel would decrease significantly.

”Okay, Flint, have you completed what Iʼve instructed?” Xu Feng quickly communicated with Flint, who had returned to his side.

”Chirp chirp!” Flint chirped in a determined tone, seemingly conveying that he had done his duty without fail.

”Good, Iʼll buy you some good pet food once the raid is over.” He calmly said, promising to reward it later.

Their conversation might be brief, but the Sentinel already caught up to Xu Feng during that brief moment.

”Flint,” Without needing to physically turn around, Xu Feng called out to him.

A second later, Flint puffed up his mouth before shooting out a stream of molten rock at the Sentinel.

Sneering, the Sentinel didnʼt even flinch at the Molten breath as it easily hardened its arms and deflected all the molten rock. As for the burn effect that was supposed to affect it, the Sentinel was immune to burn.

While deflecting the molten rock, the Sentinel emerged in front of Flint, swatting the latter away as if it were some annoying fly.

However, Flint wasnʼt seriously harmed in any way, having cast Stone Shield just in time to defend himself.

The duration of this scene didnʼt even go past 10 seconds, and the Sentinelʼs eyes soon returned its focus on Xu Feng.

Occasionally, some of the Tanks who had been close by, attempted to use their taunting skill to grab the aggro, only to realize it was a futile effort.

Their taunting skills were rendered completely useless in front of the third phase Sentinel, who seemed intent on killing Xu Feng.

The cat-and-mouse chase continued, and there were times when the Sentinel caught up to Xu Feng, damaging him in the process. However, the attack wasnʼt lethal whatsoever.

Xu Feng willingly took the attack, using its impact to propel himself further, creating a good distance.

As for the Sentinel, it knew what Xu Feng was planning, but it didnʼt care. The joy of being able to hit a pest was addicting, and there was lots of time for it to toy around with Xu Feng.

Such a scene was similar to how the cats would play with their food until they became hungry.

ʼHeh, letʼs see whoʼs the actual food first.ʼ Xu Feng inwardly exclaimed, not a bit disappointed to be on the losing end. The start of any phase was bound to be devastating and disadvantageous for players.

If he canʼt even endure such a tiny loss, then he might as well quit and stop thinking about revenge.

Having received another strike from the Sentinel, Xu Feng clenched his fist and used the impact to propel himself further on the right side.

ʼAlmost there…ʼ He thought to himself, his eyes glancing at the ceiling of the room and the ground beneath in a certain marked area.

The current Xu Feng only had one goal in mind. He didnʼt even bother what the other raid members were doing. They could slack off or try to damage the Sentinel or mess up. He doesnʼt care one bit.

So long as he succeeded in this one, he could finally end the disgusting long raid. Ever since he obtained the Origin Pass, his main objective had been finished already. Succeeding the raid and earning more money was only his secondary objective.

Another few seconds had gone by, and Xu Feng was struck once again.

Despite getting struck repeatedly and losing 30% of his health points this time, he was laughing inwardly.

Shortly after balancing himself, using the staff to gain a foothold, Xu Feng no longer ran away anymore. Instead, he stood still and calmly faced the Sentinel, much to the confusion of many.

”Why did the Raid Leader stop running?”

”Damn it, we canʼt get to them in time!”

”This is bad! If the Raid Leader dies over there, we canʼt even go and rescue him!”

The other raid members who wanted to assist Xu Feng to get out of the crisis were pressured when they saw the drastic situation. After all, the Sentinelʼs mana had started seeping out and the dormant elite mobs that were placed on the walls began showing signs of becoming active.

With all of those factors included, followed by Xu Fengʼs position, it would be nearly impossible to revive him without losing half or more of their current members.

And if their brains were able to comprehend the situation, it goes without saying that the Sentinel also knew that Xu Feng had cornered himself.

He was like a King about to be checkmate soon with one move left from the Sentinel. Many failed to comprehend Xu Fengʼs action and felt despair that the raid might fail at the final mark.

Amidst the predicament and dangerous situation, Xu Feng grinned wickedly.

”Please call an ambulance— but not for me.” He murmured, watching the Sentinel launching his ultimate attack.
