Dream Capture: I Can See Through All Secrets!

90: 90. Roommate PartyIt was evident that Zhang Wenfa’s family must be very wealthy; he was a typical rich second-generation, dressed in designer brands, holding the latest flagship phone, and even pulling out sunglasses from his bag to hang on his head before going out, claiming it was to maintain his “best image.”

He wasn’t an annoying person, just a show-off, eager for attention.

“Sigh… there’s no helping it. My family used to be very strict; they wouldn’t even let me date in high school. Now that I’ve finally made it to university, I must show my best self. Ahem… Senior Gao Liang and Senior Zhao Lishan, you’ve been at school for so long, do you have any pretty junior girls you could introduce me to? Senior girls are fine too,” Zhang Wenfa chuckled.

The two seniors, one a stereotypical academic overachiever and the other a tech geek engrossed only in technology, exchanged glances and both shook their heads.

Gao Liang pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses: “I’m ashamed to say, I’m almost graduating and I’ve never been in a relationship.”

Zhao Lishan stared at his phone screen without looking up: “I’m not interested.”

“What the heck! No way?!”

Zhang Wenfa was shocked. In his opinion, a wonderful university life should begin with dating. No matter how heavy the academic workload, one shouldn’t miss out on something as important as love!

He stiffly turned his neck to look at Lu Feng, who was walking beside him, and said, “Buddy, you…”

Lu Feng raised his hands in surrender and laughed, “Don’t look at me, I’m a freshman, a ‘mother-born solo.’”

“Damn! I can’t believe our entire dorm is full of single dogs?!” Zhang Wenfa pounded his chest and stamped his feet.

Zhang Wenfa suddenly felt a sense of mission, waving his hand grandly: “Don’t panic, brothers, don’t panic! I have a plan. Although my practical experience is zero, luckily, I have a Casanova brother who once taught me some dating secrets. Now I’ll pass them on to you. It’s very simple, just one phrase: be bold, be meticulous, and be shameless.”

“Being bold means if you meet someone suitable, go up and directly strike up a conversation to get their number; never be a coward. Being meticulous means after getting to know them, pamper them more and show them your warm side. Buy her gifts occasionally. Even if she doesn’t agree, don’t worry. As long as you’re shameless and persistent, believe me, follow this ironclad rule, and you’ll soon win her over and she’ll accept our confession.”

Zhang Wenfa recited this, shaking his head, as if he had memorized a long passage.

Gao Liang and Zhao Lishan nodded thoughtfully, feeling there might be some truth to it.

Only Lu Feng laughed inappropriately.

Zhang Wenfa grew anxious: “Old Lu, what’s wrong with you? This is very important knowledge, it concerns your university love life.”

Lu Feng laughed, “May I be so bold as to ask, does your Casanova friend have any girlfriends?”

“Not a single one, but his account has over a hundred girls he’s pursuing.”

Lu Feng gave a thumbs up: “Impressive!”

He truly was a talent! Licking one makes you a simp; licking a hundred makes you a playboy!

The group chatted as they walked out of the dorm. They even saw a few girls emerging from the adjacent dorm, which was when Lu Feng realized that this building housed both male and female students.

Downstairs, Zhao Lishan and Gao Liang were about to go get their electric scooters, when Zhang Wenfa immediately shouted, “Wait, I have a car, let’s take my car!”

He ostentatiously pulled out his car key from his pocket and pressed it, causing a red Audi Double Diamond parked nearby to flash its lights.

“Just bought it a few days ago, everyone get in,” Zhang Wenfa said proudly.

There wasn’t a man who didn’t love cars. After Zhao Lishan and Gao Liang got in, they touched here and looked there, exclaiming, “This is the latest model, it must have cost a lot.”

“Hehe, not much, just 600,000. My dad originally promised me a Lamborghini if I got into Northern University or Shuiqing University. Unfortunately, my abilities only got me into Jiangcheng, so I settled for an Audi Double Diamond.”

Gao Liang stroked the leather seats and sighed, “That’s pretty good, Junior Lu Feng. You have a car before you even graduate. If I could buy this car after graduating, my mom would burn high incense.”

The new red car slowly drove through the campus. As freshmen, they were naturally interested in everything about the school.

Zhao Lishan introduced, “This is the gymnasium and the sports field; you’ll have your military training here… That’s the auditorium, where cultural performances and large meetings are usually held… This is the girls’ dorm. Huh, why are you stopping?”

Zhang Wenfa chuckled awkwardly, “Nothing, just curious to look.”

During their brief tour of the school, Zhang Wenfa’s red sedan still attracted the attention of quite a few students, which maximally satisfied Zhang Wenfa’s vain heart.

The group drove out of the school. Lu Feng had initially suggested eating in the school cafeteria, but Zhang Wenfa adamantly refused, insisting on eating outside the campus at the best restaurant nearby, declaring, “This meal is on me, don’t save money for me!”

So, the group arrived at the University Town commercial street. Zhang Wenfa found a well-known chain restaurant and led them inside.

Today was just freshman orientation, so there were many people, and it was bustling. The tables were mostly full.

Zhang Wenfa was about to suggest finding another place when he suddenly saw something, his eyes lighting up. He exclaimed in a low voice, “Seniors, Old Lu, look quickly, there are beauties over there, the one in the floral dress, oh my, an 8 out of 10, definitely an 8! That look is totally my type…”

Gao Liang adjusted his glasses and looked over. At a window seat on the right side of the restaurant, four young girls were sitting. They all looked good, but the girl in the floral dress was the best, immediately standing out and attracting everyone’s attention.

He gave a dull smile and said, “Junior Lu Feng, you shouldn’t even think about her. That’s the belle of your Business Administration department. Plenty of people are chasing her. You, a novice, won’t be able to handle it.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Wenfa scoffed and said smugly, “Senior, don’t treat me like Old Lu, a virgin. We don’t want her, I’ve been enlightened by a Casanova. Now all that’s left is practice. Do you believe that if I go over to hit on her, I’ll succeed easily? Huh, look, she’s actually waving at me, I’m not mistaken, am I?! Guys, I just started university, is my spring coming already?”

Zhang Wenfa’s heart pounded, feeling that his handsome looks had finally been noticed at university. Just as he was about to wave back, the other party spoke first:

“Junior Lu Feng!!!”

When Zhang Wenfa heard the beautiful girl shout Lu Feng’s name, he instantly froze. Gao Liang and Zhao Lishan also looked at Lu Feng with some surprise.

They never expected these two to know each other.

Lu Feng was also a little surprised to encounter the girl from the high-speed train again. Her name seemed to be… Lin Wanqiu.

“Hello, Senior Lin Wanqiu,” Lu Feng said with a smile.

Lin Wanqiu blinked, stood up, and smiled, “Are you all going to eat? At this time, there are no seats in the surrounding restaurants. Come, come, come, we can squeeze a bit here. Why don’t you come over and share a table with us?”

Lu Feng was not accustomed to sharing a table with others and was about to politely decline when Zhang Wenfa immediately snapped back to reality, stepping forward to interrupt: “That’s… that’s great, Senior Lin Wanqiu! We were just worried about not having a seat! Then we’ll respectfully accept your offer, right, Old Lu?”

He frantically winked at Lu Feng, his eyes showing three parts pleading, five parts anticipation, and two parts excitement, his mouth twitching.

Lu Feng raised an eyebrow and said, “Alright then.”

Zhang Wenfa secretly gave a thumbs up and whispered, “Good brother! You’re awesome!”

Lin Wanqiu stood up and ushered everyone to their seats, somehow squeezing out four spots for Lu Feng and his three companions to sit opposite them.

“These are all my roommates: Song Xiaowan, Su Yan, and Qiaoqiao. We just arrived too.”

After Lin Wanqiu introduced them, the other three girls looked at them curiously and greeted them with a smile: “Hello everyone…”

“Hello…”

Lu Feng noticed that the two seniors beside him responded somewhat dully, while Zhang Wenfa, who had been spouting various dating theories non-stop earlier, became incredibly timid once he actually had the chance to sit down, as if he had lost his soul.

He either ran his hand through his showy hair or adjusted his clothes to act cool, not daring to look directly at them, unable to utter a single word.

“These two are our seniors, Gao Liang and Zhao Lishan, and this is Zhang Wenfa, also a freshman.”

He suppressed a laugh and kicked Zhang Wenfa: “Old Zhang, didn’t you say you were familiar with this restaurant? Do you have any dishes to recommend?”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Wenfa froze, as if a switch had been flipped. He gulped down a mouthful of sour plum soup, then suddenly straightened his back and laughed, “I am indeed familiar with this restaurant! Their boss and my dad are old acquaintances. Although it can’t compare to my family’s chef, some of their dishes are very good. I’ll order, I’ll order.”

Saying this, he took the menu, evaluating the dishes as he ordered them, appearing very knowledgeable. Finally, he asked, “Do you all drink?”

Several girls shook their heads, and Zhang Wenfa showed a hint of disappointment: “They have a very pure-tasting red wine here, and it’s not expensive, only 2888. Next time, we’ll have a chance to try it.”

The short-haired girl, Su Yan, widened her eyes and asked, “2888 isn’t expensive? Student Lu, what does your family do to be so rich?”

Zhang Wenfa had been waiting for this very question. The smile on his face was almost uncontrollable, and he was ecstatic inside, but he still pretended to be calm and said, “Have you heard of Xingbang Building Materials Company? My dad is the chairman.”

A small gasp echoed in the booth. They hadn’t expected this somewhat flashy guy to actually be a rich second-generation.

Song Xiaowan looked at Zhang Wenfa with new eyes and asked curiously, “Building materials company? Then with housing prices rising so much recently, your family must have made a fortune, right?”

Zhang Wenfa finally regained his composure, shaking his head with feigned profundity, “It’s alright, alright. We just took on a dozen or so fine decoration projects for apartment complexes. This is nothing for my family… Oh, and this summer my dad also had me intern in the marketing department. I just looked at financial reports and followed projects every day, and I did learn a lot.”

He winked at Lu Feng, hinting that he was creating an opportunity for his brother, then changed the subject: “What were you busy with this summer, Old Lu? Did you intern too?”

Lu Feng picked up a piece of smashed cucumber and put it in his mouth, stating directly, “My dad was sick, so I moved bricks at a construction site for two months.”

“Clang!”

Zhang Wenfa’s spoon fell into the soup bowl. He frantically winked at Lu Feng, signaling him.

Brother, I told you to show off, not to self-destruct! Who talks like that? Do you still want to pick up girls?

Then Lu Feng added, “Later, I made a small investment and earned some living expenses.”

Zhang Wenfa breathed a sigh of relief and immediately chimed in, “You’ve started playing with investments? Old Lu, that’s great, you have a good business mind! But these are all small potatoes.”

He patted Lu Feng’s shoulder: “Follow me from now on, and I’ll take you to discuss real big projects! Before coming here yesterday, I just accompanied my dad to meet a real estate developer, and he started with a hundred million…”

At this moment, Lin Wanqiu suddenly interrupted, “But this morning I saw Student Lu get into a Maybach at the high-speed rail station? And there was a driver opening the door.”

“Pfft—” Zhang Wenfa spat out the lemonade in his mouth.

The entire table suddenly fell silent, and everyone looked at Lu Feng.

“A May… Maybach?”

Zhang Wenfa stammered, asking, “Old Lu, you…”

Lu Feng explained without changing his expression, “Oh, that? Ride-sharing apps have promotions lately. I got a coupon, and since I hadn’t ridden in one before, I just wanted to try it out.”

Zhang Wenfa breathed a long sigh of relief, coming back to life: “I knew it! Ride-sharing apps are so competitive now. Last time I even got a Rolls-Royce, and that dog of a driver said he was going back to inherit his family business after my ride. Isn’t that hilarious…”

It must be said, Zhang Wenfa was naturally a crowd-pleaser, especially with Lu Feng playing along. He really did capture the attention of a few girls, and by the end of the evening, he had collected three contact numbers.

As for the two seniors… they just focused on eating the whole time, completely transparent.

Zhang Wenfa happily added the numbers, and as he was about to ask the most beautiful girl, Lin Wanqiu, for her contact information.

Lin Wanqiu smiled and said, “I don’t need to. If anything comes up, you can just chat with my roommates. We’re all in the same dorm. Oh, why don’t I add Junior Lu Feng instead? Anyway, you all are in the same dorm too~”

Zhang Wenfa’s smile froze, feeling an immense stab to the heart.

Damn it! Old Lu clearly wasn’t as good at showing off as him, so why did he always attract high-quality beauties?!

The meal was enjoyed by all. When it came time to pay, Zhang Wenfa deliberately pulled out his gold bank card, insisted on paying, and showed off beautifully in front of the senior girls, finally feeling satisfied.

Since Lin Wanqiu and her friends still wanted to go shopping, the group parted ways.

On the way back, Zhang Wenfa was still immersed in the joy of his successful showing off. It was so exhilarating. He couldn’t help but say, “Old Lu, you’re amazing, your wingman skills are spot on. I feel like this time I might have a chance. Seniors, what do you think?”

Gao Liang shook his head: “I don’t know, probably not.”

“I also think it won’t be that easy.”

Zhang Wenfa immediately grew anxious: “How can it not be possible… Didn’t you see their eyes, they kept looking at me…”

Lu Feng leaned by the window, feeling the warm wind on his face, listening to the laughter and playful banter inside the car. He suddenly felt that the scorching heat of the construction site and the battles of the business world were as distant as things from a past life.

Until his phone suddenly vibrated and rang, interrupting his thoughts.

Lu Feng picked it up to answer. A low, hoarse voice came from the other end:

“I’m Tian Peng. I’ve thought it over carefully and I agree to your terms.”
