Dream Capture: I Can See Through All Secrets!

78: 78. Be sensible”The money my dad earns in a year is something a top student like him wouldn’t even dare to dream of in a lifetime. Your thinking is still stuck in your student days, believing that good grades guarantee a bright future. Haha... wake up, even the people who bus tables at my house are 211 graduates!”

This was clearly an overstatement, and the class president immediately stood up to smooth things over: ”Haha, Lin Ruhai is clearly drunk, everyone please don’t mind him.”

”I’m not drunk, I’m perfectly sober, hiccup!” Lin Ruhai said, displeased.

The class president gave a meaningful look, and a few male classmates quickly got up to help support Lin Ruhai.

”Oh, Old Lin’s first time drinking, why is he like this? Come on, come on, I’ll take him to the restroom to sober up.”

Li Mengmeng pouted and said, ”He’s not composed at all.”

These words reached Lin Ruhai’s ears and immediately made him explode. He furiously pushed away the classmate supporting him and angrily smashed his wine glass on the table.

”Without me, where would you have gotten a private room to eat...”

The commotion in the private room quickly attracted the attention of the restaurant manager. When he saw his boss’s son throwing a drunken tantrum, he found it difficult to approach. After a moment’s thought, he quickly ran back to the third-floor office area and knocked on his boss’s door.

Before long, the private room door opened, and a middle-aged man in a sharp suit walked in with a frown.

Seeing this middle-aged man, Lin Ruhai sobered up considerably: ”Dad... why are you... here?”

Lin Yansheng’s face was ashen. He strode quickly to his son, and seeing his disheveled state, he was furious. He slapped him on the head and roared, ”You scoundrel! Who taught you to speak like that? I’ve had you studying for so many years, and you’ve learned nothing but nonsense, spouting rubbish here!”

The entire private room fell silent. The classmates held their breath, watching the previously boisterous Lin Ruhai shrink his neck like a quail.

Lin Yansheng poked Lin Ruhai’s chest forcefully and said, ”Without an education, how can you understand reason? How can you broaden your horizons? Your old man, me, didn’t even have the opportunity to study back then, and I still regret it to this day. It’s precisely because of this that I placed such high hopes on you, and this is your performance?”

Lin Ruhai staggered backward from the pokes, his back hitting the decorative cabinet, making the crystal ornaments inside clink.

Lin Yansheng suddenly turned around and deeply apologized to the students at the table: ”Classmates, it is my fault for not raising my son properly. Education is very useful, and the development of my restaurant has always relied on the help of highly educated talents. I have always admired intelligent people the most. Here, I apologize on behalf of my son.”

After speaking, he raised his wine glass, filled it, and drank it down.

What Lin Yansheng said was not mere politeness; it was completely sincere. The reason his chain restaurant business grew so large was largely because he respected talent.

So now, seeing his son, whom he had raised, acting so arrogant and dismissive, he felt both anger and heartache.

He did not want his son to be a person of such small-mindedness, short-sightedness, and lack of magnanimity. Such a person could not bear the great responsibility of inheriting his business.

Lin Ruhai lowered his head, not daring to refute.

The surrounding students were also stunned. They had never seen such a humble big boss, who was so reasonable. For a moment, they felt admiration for Lin Yansheng.

”It’s nothing, Uncle Lin. Ruhai, he... he was just drunk.”

”That’s right, that’s right, Uncle Lin, you’re being too serious. We were just joking around as classmates.”

Lin Yansheng turned back to Lin Ruhai and commanded, ”Apologize. Apologize to whichever classmate you spoke those outrageous words to just now.”

Lin Ruhai, with a long face, said to Lu Feng, ”Lu Feng, I’m sorry... I... I was possessed just now, I’m really sorry... I hope you don’t mind.”

Everyone looked at Lu Feng, the person in question. Lin Yansheng also looked over, and the wine glass in his hand suddenly trembled.

”Mr. Lu...?”

As soon as these words came out, all the students present thought they had misheard.

What the hell? The dignified owner of Royal Restaurant actually used an honorific for Lu Feng?

Are you kidding me?

Only then did Lin Yansheng realize that his son had been drunkenly raving at Lu Feng. Fine beads of sweat seeped from his forehead, and the image of that luxury mansion worth over a hundred million from the afternoon flashed through his mind.

He held his cup with both hands, quickly walked to Lu Feng’s side, and bowed even lower: ”My son was blind and ignorant. I hope Mr. Lu will not hold it against him.”

Lin Ruhai was dumbfounded. He had never seen his father treat anyone with such deference.

Lu Feng calmly stood up, raised his wine glass, and clinked it with him, saying in a relaxed tone, ”Mr. Lin, you’re being too serious. It was just a joke between classmates, it’s not that serious.”

He was indeed not angry. Perhaps his mindset had changed, and such childish provocations didn’t stir any ripples within him.

Moreover, Lin Yansheng’s way of handling things also impressed Lu Feng. He was reasonable and understanding, not the kind of person who would blindly side with his son.

Lin Yansheng let out a long sigh and turned to glare fiercely at his son: ”Aren’t you going to thank Mr. Lu!”

”Th-thank you...”

Lin Ruhai stammered, completely bewildered by what was happening.

Lin Yansheng looked at the messy round table, waved his hand, and said to the restaurant manager next to him, ”Clear these away, bring new dishes, and get a good bottle of red wine. I want to have a few drinks with Mr. Lu.”

”Yes!”

The restaurant manager immediately had the waiters clean up and serve new dishes. Soon, there was another table full of sumptuous food, and the prices were clearly higher.

The gathering continued, but all the classmates in the private room stared blankly as Lu Feng and Lin Yansheng chatted and laughed, utterly astonished.

Even the rare delicacies tasted like chewing wax in their mouths. Everyone was scratching their heads, completely unable to understand why the situation had turned out this way.

The class president’s eyes widened, and he whispered, ”What’s Lu Feng’s background, anyway?”

The sports committee member next to him also whispered, ”Who knows? Could he have met a big boss while moving bricks at a construction site? If that’s really the case, then I’m going to move bricks tomorrow too.”

Lin Yansheng also knew he was out of place here, so he didn’t stay long. After a brief chat, he got up to leave.

Just before leaving the door, he suddenly remembered something. He pulled a stack of gold cards from his wallet and handed them to the class president: ”All classmates get fifty percent off when you come to dine here in the future!”

After the door closed, the private room was silent for a full ten seconds.

”Holy crap...”

The sports committee member’s exclamation voiced everyone’s thoughts.
