Teaming Up with My Enemy to Rule the Apocalypse

In the apocalypse, life is the most precious thing.

But at the same time, it is also the most worthless.

After Sierra Sullivan finished speaking, the men looked over at her, their eyes filled with terror.

They had originally thought that someone like Jayce, who resorted to violence at the slightest disagreement, was terrifying enough.

They never expected a girl to show up who was even more terrifying than Jayce.

The moment she opened her mouth, she was threatening to take their tongues, and even their lives!

The men tried to scramble up from the ground but failed, so they could only drag themselves backward.

”Do you... Do you know who we are? Don’t you get too arrogant!”

Sierra Sullivan scoffed. ”Then why don’t you tell me? Who exactly are you?”

She really wanted to know how a few people like this had suddenly appeared in their base.

And judging by the situation, it was more complicated than just a few new faces.

”We are—”

Before the man could finish, someone else started walking toward them.

The newcomer was dressed in camouflage and wore sunglasses that obscured most of his face.

However, from the half of his face that was visible, you could tell he was quite good-looking.

A rugged, iron-willed man with sharp, defined features.

As he approached, he carried an aura that was impossible to ignore.

While Sierra Sullivan was still sizing him up, he had already drawn near.

Even though he was wearing sunglasses, Sierra Sullivan could clearly feel his gaze sweep over her and her group.

After a quick scan, the man spoke in a cold voice, ”Causing trouble the moment you get back?”

When the men on the ground saw him, it was as if they’d seen their savior. They immediately scrambled up and stumbled behind him.

”Captain Grant, these people are unbelievably arrogant! They attack at the slightest disagreement! Especially him!”

As he spoke, he pointed a finger at Jayce.

”He’s the one who beat us! He has no respect for the law! Someone like him needs to be taught a proper lesson.”

Hector Grant took off his sunglasses, his sharp gaze fixed on Jayce. ”So you’re Kevin Everett’s son? You think you can disregard everyone just because your dad is the base commander? You really think that because your dad is the commander, he’s the king of the castle? And that makes you the lawless crown prince?”

Jayce lifted his chin, his expression indifferent. ”Who are you? And where’s my dad?”

”Let me introduce myself. My name is Hector Grant, and you can also call me Captain Grant. As for your father, he’s fine. He’s in the Subterra right now. I can have someone take you to see him in a little while.

I don’t care what your status or position was in this base before, or what kind of life you lived. From now on, you will all obey the base’s administration!”

Although Hector Grant’s words were still not entirely clear, they could more or less grasp the meaning.

Red Sun Base had been taken over by the man before them, Hector Grant—or more accurately, by the people behind him.

Jayce was about to say more, but Sierra Sullivan took a step forward and grabbed his hand.

’No matter what the situation is, the most important thing right now is to see Kevin Everett.’

Once they saw Kevin Everett, they would naturally find out what was going on.

Although Jayce had a fiery temper, he wasn’t completely unreasonable.

He also knew what the best choice was in this situation.

”I want to see my dad,” Jayce said.

”Fine!” Hector Grant agreed immediately. ”I’ll have someone take you now. As for the rest of you... if you need to find your families, I’ll also arrange for people to take you. As for other matters, I’ll find you later to get things straight.”

In the end, Dominic Crawford, Joy Warren, and the others left with a different group of people.

Meanwhile, Sierra Sullivan, Jayce, and Nathan Thorne were led away to see Kevin Everett.

They were first taken to the underground garage, then led into a room. After passing through two doors, they finally arrived at the entrance to the Subterra.

There were no lights in the passageway. Only the two guides in front held flashlights, and the beams they cast were very faint.

The weather was already cool, and now that they were underground, walking through the long corridor felt even colder, as if a chilling wind was constantly blowing back and forth.

Nathan Thorne was eating as he walked. ”What do you guys think is going on?!”

Sierra Sullivan glanced at him. ”Just eat your food! And keep quiet!”

’There are still two strangers leading the way. This is not a good time to chat.’

Nathan Thorne immediately shut his mouth and obediently ate his food.

After walking for a few minutes, they came to a stairwell.

They descended one flight of stairs, and the space before them suddenly opened up.

It was like a massive hall, at least the size of a soccer field.

Orbs hanging in the hall were emitting a soft light.

Although it wasn’t as bright as daylight, seeing things wasn’t a problem.

People were coming and going throughout the hall, and the air was filled with a low clamor.

Not only that, but the perimeter of the hall was lined with individual rooms bearing various signs, like a series of small shops.

Sierra Sullivan stared at the scene before her, feeling a little dazed.

No sandstorms, no Aberrant Beasts.

This place was just like a uniquely designed shopping mall from before the apocalypse.

’Is this... still the apocalypse?’

Nathan Thorne was also dumbfounded by the sight. ”What is this? I knew you guys were building a Subterra, but you never said you were building *this* kind of Subterra!”

Sierra Sullivan replied, ”...You might not believe this, but I didn’t know it was this kind of Subterra either.”

The two men leading them stopped. ”Of course you didn’t know. This isn’t the little dark room you guys were building. We built this after we arrived.”

’They built it?’

Sierra Sullivan did a quick calculation in her head. They had been gone from the base for less than a month, all told.

Even if these people had arrived the very day they left, how could they have constructed such a massive Subterra in such a short amount of time?

’These people are definitely not some unorganized group of amateurs.’

”Let’s go. Stop staring and let’s get you to Captain Everett.”

Sierra Sullivan was no stranger to the title ”Captain Everett.”

Plenty of people had called Jayce that before.

But Sierra knew that the ”Captain Everett” these two men were talking about was definitely not Jayce, but Kevin Everett.

’Kevin Everett went from Base Commander to Captain Everett?’

This change in status was so unbelievable that it left Sierra Sullivan feeling dazed.

In the end, however, Sierra didn’t ask any questions and just continued to follow them.

After another ten-plus minutes of walking and descending two more flights of stairs, they reached the third basement level and finally stopped in front of a metal door.

”We’re here! Captain Everett lives here now. We’ll be leaving. Our Captain Grant will come find you later, so don’t wander off.”

With that, the two men left.

Jayce paid them no mind and stepped forward to knock on the door.

From inside, Yvonne Shelby’s voice quickly responded.

”Who is it? Coming! Hold on a second!”
