Teaming Up with My Enemy to Rule the Apocalypse

Nathan Thorne rubbed his stomach. ”My stomach... it feels completely empty. Like there’s nothing in it. I’m starving to death.”

As he spoke, cold sweat trickled down his face.

Just from his appearance, he really did look like he hadn’t eaten in a long time, which would explain the cold sweats.

At first, Sierra Sullivan was a little worried and hesitant to give him the food.

But seeing him like this, all her worries vanished. She immediately pulled food from her space, filling the table in front of Nathan Thorne.

The moment Nathan Thorne saw the food, he lost any inclination to speak, simply grabbing it and stuffing it into his mouth.

Watching him wolf it down, Sierra Sullivan finally sensed that something was wrong.

’This doesn’t seem like simple hunger!’

Just as this thought popped into Sierra Sullivan’s mind, she heard Jayce’s voice.

”The way he is... it doesn’t seem like simple hunger. It’s more like... a physical need.”

Sierra Sullivan immediately nodded emphatically. ”I was just thinking the same thing!”

Dominic Crawford stroked his chin, a curious look on his face. ”A physical need? Based on what we know, when a Superpower is enhanced, one’s appetite increases accordingly. For him to suddenly get this hungry and need so much food to replenish his energy... does that mean his Superpower has improved?”

”It’s very likely!” Sierra Sullivan nodded. ”But to know what’s really going on, we’ll have to wait for him to tell us himself.”

No matter how much they discussed it here, it was all just speculation.

To know the specifics of the situation, they had to hear it from Nathan Thorne himself.

Nathan Thorne could hear their conversation. Although he was still relentlessly stuffing food into his mouth, he managed to look up and give them a glance.

That single glance contained so many complex emotions.

Although Sierra Sullivan didn’t know exactly what it meant, she felt it was definitely something important.

It was just that Nathan Thorne desperately needed food to replenish his energy right now, so even if he wanted to speak, he couldn’t spare the effort.

Fortunately, Autumn Lynch and the others had already taken care of everything, and there were no zombies in the building.

They were completely safe at the moment and had plenty of time to wait patiently.

As time passed, the food on the table gradually disappeared, and Nathan Thorne’s eating speed also began to slow down.

Although he hadn’t stopped completely, it looked like he was close.

Sure enough, before all the food on the table was gone, Nathan Thorne stopped.

Eating itself was a physically exhausting task.

At least for Nathan Thorne in his current state, he was thoroughly exhausted.

After gasping for several breaths, Nathan Thorne finally recovered a little.

Nathan Thorne looked pleadingly at Sierra Sullivan and Jayce. ”Just now, I really felt like I was about to die! If it weren’t for all this food, I would have died for sure!”

As he said the last part, Nathan Thorne even had an expression of lingering fear.

From this, it was clear that he was genuinely frightened by the experience.

Sierra Sullivan quickly asked, ”Did your Superpower level up?”

’That must be why he so urgently needed food to replenish his energy.’

Nathan Thorne’s expression was complicated. ”No, it’s that I gained another Superpower.”

”Another Superpower?” Sierra Sullivan was genuinely stunned, her voice rising in pitch. ”Doesn’t that mean you have three Superpowers now? What’s the new one?”

Nathan Thorne glanced at Jayce before saying, ”A Water Ability.”

’This time, it wasn’t a rare Superpower!’

’When I awakened my second Superpower, I got hungry too, but it was nothing compared to the hunger from awakening a third one.’

’It looks like you have to be extremely cautious about trying to awaken a third Superpower!’
