Catastrophic necromancer

Chapter 4767: Stepping Stone

Sky Shattering True Monarch laughed madly.

His own universe had already collapsed, yet by possessing another body to be reborn, he had unexpectedly arrived in the Chaos Primordial Wilds and just happened to run into a great tribulation of heaven and earth.

He could completely take this chance to prove the Dao again and once more ascend the throne of a supreme powerhouse.

By sifting through the Calamity Great Venerate’s memories, he had already understood most of what was going on.

As for Lin Moyu and Lin Mohan, he did not take them seriously at all.

After all, he had once been a supreme being, far beyond someone like the Calamity Great Venerate.

Lin Moyu’s calm voice cut through his laughter.

“The Calamity Great Venerate schemed his entire life and laid down this grand game across heaven and earth, yet in the end, he fell in such a way.

Truly pitiful.”

Sky Shattering True Monarch snorted coldly.

“He was just a fool.

Scheming all his life what does he know of ’scheming’?

Supreme beings are never schemed into existence.

A supreme is only hacked and slaughtered out of the bloody way.”

Lin Moyu said,

“From the memories you obtained, you should know that he was not always like that.”

Sky Shattering True Monarch replied,

“This man did fight and kill in the past and was full of blood and fire, and at that time he did look like he had hope of attaining the Dao.

But after he achieved the rank of Great Venerate, he began to grow cautious and started to love plotting over everything.

This so called grand layout over all heaven and earth, in this Monarch’s eyes, is worth less than fart.”

“From that moment, his path of enlightenment was already cut off.

What grand scheme could possibly cover an entire great calamity?

Utter drivel.”

Lin Moyu chuckled.

“That is not entirely correct.

Trying to plot one’s way into enlightenment is not impossible.

He simply lacked the ability; that is his own failing.”

“For example, Senior, you came here by a twist of fate and now wish to use this great tribulation to attain the Dao.

Lin really does not know whether to call you lucky or unlucky.”

Sky Shattering True Monarch’s gaze tightened slightly.

“And what do you mean by that?”

Lin Moyu said,

“Your arrival here, being able to be reborn in a borrowed body and then running into the great calamity, counts as good luck.

But running into us counts as bad luck.”

Sky Shattering True Monarch suddenly let out a derisive laugh.

“What a joke.

You lot actually think you can block this Monarch?”

Lin Moyu said,

“Try and you will see.

Elder Sister, you have rested enough, time to move.”

“One Sword to Cut the Soul!”

Sword light burst forth with a roar as Lin Mohan struck again.

Lin Moyu had just now spoken those extra lines only to buy time for Lin Mohan.

He understood Lin Mohan’s sword path very well.

Her sword could seek out an enemy’s weakness, but it required time.

The time he had bought for her was enough for Lin Mohan to see the opponent’s frailty.

From this moment, the stage should once more be handed back to Lin Mohan.

This sword was illusory, ethereal, and aimed solely at the soul.

On the surface, it did not look all that powerful, yet it made Sky Shattering True Monarch’s expression change drastically.

He had been reborn by using the Calamity Great Venerate’s body.

To merge into the Chaos Primordial Wilds, he needed not only a physical body, but also a soul.

Blending with the flesh was comparatively easy.

However, integrating the soul was much harder; even as a former supreme being, he still needed some time.

During this period, his soul was unstable.

Lin Mohan had seen exactly this point and thus swung her sword to cut the soul.

The insubstantial sword light descended, locking directly onto the soul and leaving no room to dodge.

Sky Shattering True Monarch gave a cold snort.

“Seeking death!”

The Sky Shattering Seal expanded rapidly, shooting out multicolored radiance and forming a vertical shield.

The Sky Shattering Seal was his own divine weapon, an artifact at the level of a supreme powerhouse.

Even damaged, it could easily block Lin Mohan’s sword.

Moreover, he did not need to burn his blood and soul to drive it the way the Calamity Great Venerate had.

Lin Mohan’s sword momentum did not change.

Her red lips parted slightly.

“Explode!”

Boom!

Sword qi suddenly blasted out from within Sky Shattering True Monarch’s body.

He immediately spewed blood and cried out in pain.

With its master wounded, the shield formed by the Sky Shattering Seal weakened drastically.

Lin Mohan’s soul slaying sword happened to fall at that moment, shattering the Sky Shattering Seal’s defense and striking Sky Shattering True Monarch.

Another miserable scream rang out.

His soul was wounded yet again, blood spurted from him in gouts, and his soul seemed as though it was about to tear free from his flesh.

Sky Shattering True Monarch spat blood and roared angrily.

“Good… good… you were truly underestimated.”

Previously, when he was fusing with the rules of heaven and earth, Lin Mohan had secretly woven her sword intent into that process.

At that time, she had detonated most of it, but still left a portion dormant, to erupt only just now.

Assaulted from the inside and outside at once, she had severely injured Sky Shattering True Monarch in a single stroke.

Lin Moyu commented,

“Now this is truly effective scheming.

Much more useful than the Calamity Great Venerate’s kind.”

Some schemes are simple and effective, while others are needlessly long winded and useless.

The Calamity Great Venerate belonged to the latter he looked impressive, but in truth was nothing more than a pile of trash.

Sky Shattering True Monarch stabilized his body and soul, then slapped down on the Sky Shattering Seal.

The artifact immediately split into countless phantoms and crushed in toward Lin Mohan from all directions.

A terrifying pressure swept through the void.

After all, he had once been a supreme powerhouse, and his strength far exceeded that of the Calamity Great Venerate.

If one looked at pure strength alone, Lin Mohan could not compare with him.

Sword light exploded as Lin Mohan’s sword intent surged through the void.

The phantom manifestations of the Sky Shattering Seal trembled under the impact of her sword radiance, but did not shatter.

Sky Shattering True Monarch said coldly,

“Without truly stepping into the supreme realm, you will never understand how terrifying a supreme is.

Even if you are only one step away, you are still nothing but ants!”

Lin Moyu chuckled lightly.

“Is that so?”

The Wings of Heaven and Earth unfurled behind him as the Nine Heavens Fate Art activated.

The rules of heaven and earth were forcibly altered.

The heavenly punishment that had earlier receded suddenly reappeared.

Boundless thunder fell once more, bombarding the Sky Shattering Seal.

At the same time, a force of heaven and earth dropped onto Sky Shattering True Monarch himself.

The rules of this world did not acknowledge his existence at all and were mobilizing the power of heaven and earth to expel him.

The one they were driving out was Sky Shattering True Monarch.

As for the flesh and tattered soul that had once belonged to the Calamity Great Venerate, that part they intended to keep in this universe.

As a result, the bits of soul Sky Shattering True Monarch had finally just managed to fuse were torn open again, and even his control over the body dropped sharply.

The phantom seals generated by the Sky Shattering Seal all scattered.

Sky Shattering True Monarch suddenly jerked his head up to stare at Lin Moyu.

“Primordial Heaven Arts!”

His eyes were sharp enough to see that Lin Moyu had used the Primordial Heaven Arts to change the rules.

Lin Moyu smiled.

“As expected of Sky Shattering True Monarch.

Such keen vision.”

Sky Shattering True Monarch said in a low voice,

“How can you possibly wield the Primordial Heaven Arts?

Those can only be mastered by a supreme being.”

Lin Moyu laughed.

“That is not something you need to worry about.

Lin already said that your arrival here is both good fortune and misfortune.

Originally, there was only a ninety percent chance of stepping into the supreme realm.

Now, there is a full hundred percent.”

His arrival was like an invasion of this universe.

If Sky Shattering True Monarch had been at full strength, the very fabric of this world would have started collapsing from his presence.

To the universe itself, Sky Shattering True Monarch was an invader.

As long as he was killed, the world would grant rewards.

Sky Shattering True Monarch knew this as well, which was why he had to rely on the Calamity Great Venerate’s body and soul to blend into this universe.

He said with scorn,

“How bold, using this Monarch as a stepping stone.”

Lin Moyu shook his head.

“Not a stepping stone.

A chance to attain the Dao.

With such an excellent opportunity, it must naturally be seized.”

Sky Shattering True Monarch said in a low tone,

“Even if this Monarch cannot fully merge into this universe for the time being, with the Sky Shattering Seal as my protection, you can do nothing to me.”

“Once I completely fuse my soul and adapt to the rules of this world, I will carve you up at my leisure.

None of you will escape.”

As he spoke, he slowly sank into the Sky Shattering Seal.

No matter how the rules of heaven and earth attacked, the artifact remained unmoved.

The Sky Shattering Seal flew off toward the Divine Wood Sea.

With such an artifact suppressing it, no one would be able to claim the Divine Wood Sea.

In Sky Shattering True Monarch’s view, as long as he suppressed this chance of attaining the Dao, no one could become a supreme being.

Once he recovered, he would be able to slaughter everyone.

There was no way Lin Moyu would allow such a thing to happen.

“Originally, Lin did not wish to intervene personally, but since you have a divine weapon like the Sky Shattering Seal, Lin has no choice but to move a little.”

With a wave of his hand, the Calamity Scepter shot out like a bolt of lightning and smashed heavily into the Sky Shattering Seal.
