Chapter 106: First Entry into the Elemental Battlefield, Wraiths, Physical Immunity

Bai Yiyuan said, “There are also high-level alchemists in the fortress. You can pay gold coins to have them replenish the energy.”

“But they usually don’t want money, they prefer materials.”

“You can ask them when the time comes.”

“If all else fails, you can return to Summer Capital University through the teleportation array we came from, though the price is a bit high.”

Lin Moyu understood.

Having said everything needed, Bai Yiyuan bid farewell to Lin Moyu.

Lin Moyu went to the exchange in the fortress. Fortunately, the exchange here was connected to the empire’s exchange.

And there were some special items for sale here.

These items couldn’t be seen in the exchange back in the country.

They were called military supplies and had strict level restrictions.

What level you were determined what items you could buy.

Lin Moyu was currently just a private with no military merits, at the bottom level.

He really couldn’t buy much.

The teleportation stones for returning to the fortress were one of the few things he could buy.

They cost 10,000 gold coins each, indeed not cheap.

These had a chance of failure and were single-use items.

Lin Moyu bought 10.

There were also anti-curse potions.

Also 10,000 gold coins per bottle.

After drinking, it increased curse resistance by 20% for 1 hour.

Lin Moyu thought for a moment and didn’t buy any.

It wasn’t necessary.

There was also some special equipment from the battlefield.

This equipment was called battlefield equipment.

Compared to dungeon equipment of the same level, it had stronger attributes.

Battlefield equipment could also increase damage against Abyss monsters.

It was the best choice here.

Similarly, corresponding military merits were needed to purchase.

Lin Moyu looked through everything and understood why Bai Yiyuan told him to prepare more gold coins.

Bai Yiyuan had confidence in Lin Moyu’s ability to gain military merits.

But he didn’t have confidence in his ability to make money.

This battlefield equipment was very expensive in addition to requiring military merits.

Even the cheapest piece cost hundreds of thousands of gold coins.

And that was just the lowest sergeant-grade equipment.

Colonel-grade equipment cost millions of gold coins, which Lin Moyu couldn’t afford at all.

After touring the fortress and becoming completely familiar with it, Lin Moyu prepared to check out the Elemental Battlefield.

The fortress guards kindly stopped Lin Moyu.

“Young man, you’re only level 22?”

“Did an elder from your family bring you here?”

“The weakest monsters here are level 30, and there are Abyss monsters too.”

“It’s dangerous for you to go out like this.”

The career holders who could become fortress guards of the Eternal Great Wall were all at least over level 40 and had completed their second transition.

Lin Moyu’s concealment badge couldn’t fool them.

“Thank you, I’m just going to take a look,” Lin Moyu said politely but firmly.

The guards could hear his determination and stopped trying to dissuade him, “Then be careful. Come back if there’s danger.”

Lin Moyu gradually moved away, disappearing from sight.

The guards sighed, “Another kid who doesn’t know his limits. Hope nothing happens.”

Every year, many people got into trouble like this.

Generally, people moved in teams here.

There were some who acted alone like Lin Moyu, but their levels were usually not low.

At least above level 30.

Even above level 30 wasn’t safe, danger could be encountered at any time.

There were almost no level 22s coming to the Elemental Battlefield like Lin Moyu.

After Lin Moyu left, another team left the fortress, advancing deeper into the Elemental Battlefield.

The Elemental Battlefield was filled with the aura of the Abyss.

A thin mist permeated the air.

Visibility was very poor.

Even straining his eyes, Lin Moyu couldn’t see very far.

Suddenly, the bone armor on his body lit up.

Lin Moyu was startled – he was under attack.

But he couldn’t see the source of the attack in his field of vision.

The bone armor kept flashing, the attacks not stopping.

An invisible monster?

The Elemental Battlefield was indeed unsafe.

Several skeleton warriors appeared beside him.

With their master under attack, the skeleton warriors immediately reacted.

Their soul fires flickered violently, red light shooting from their eyes.

Their blades swung simultaneously in one direction.

Where the blades struck, there was a sound of fabric tearing.

At the same time, there was a piercing scream.

Only then did Lin Moyu see clearly what kind of monster was attacking him.

This monster was like smoke and dust, hidden in the mist, very difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.

Now that it was attacked by the skeleton warriors, its form was slightly revealed.

[Battlefield Wraith]

[Level: 30]

[Strength: 6000]

[Agility: 2000]

[Spirit: 2000]

[Constitution: 5000]

[Skill: Physical Immunity]

He didn’t expect the first monster encountered in the Elemental Battlefield to be a wraith-type monster.

This kind of monster only appeared in places like the Elemental Battlefield.

They were almost never seen elsewhere.

Level 30, its attributes weren’t very strong.

Similar to enhanced elite monsters in Nightmare difficulty dungeons.

When hidden, it was very hard to detect.

It usually only revealed itself when actively attacking.

Fortunately, the bone armor’s absurdly strong defense helped Lin Moyu block the battlefield wraith’s attacks.

Lin Moyu was only slightly surprised at the appearance of soul-type monsters on the battlefield. What made him more curious was its skill.

Just as he thought this, the battlefield wraith let out a scream.

Skill: Physical Immunity.

Its body became ethereal. Like smoke and dust, it looked even more faint.

The skeleton warriors’ blades passed right through, as if slashing air, unable to cause any damage.

But it could still attack the skeleton warriors.

Lin Moyu could clearly feel the skeleton warriors being attacked.

While the skeleton warriors’ attacks had no effect on it.

The blades passed through its body without causing any damage.

“It really is immune to physical attacks.”

“Let’s see about elemental damage.”

With a thought, he summoned several skeleton mages.

The skeleton mages attacked as soon as they appeared.

Explosive Flame and Ice Storm rained down on it.

The battlefield wraith screamed miserably. The elemental attacks landing on it caused huge damage.

After two or three hits, the battlefield wraith was killed.

[Killed Battlefield Wraith]

[Obtained Soul Essence]

[Soul Essence: Contains the will of those who died on the battlefield, can enhance weapons and equipment]

300,000 experience, a standard amount.

The material called Soul Essence was something Lin Moyu had never seen before.

Its ability to enhance weapons and equipment seemed to be a useful material.

With this experience, he knew skeleton warriors weren’t omnipotent.

The same went for skeleton mages.

Since there were monsters with physical immunity, there could also be monsters with elemental immunity.

There might even be monsters immune to both physical and elemental attacks.

At that time, both skeleton warriors and mages might become useless.

Lin Moyu had to become more vigilant.

As he advanced towards the dungeon, Lin Moyu also constantly pondered his skills.

“Skeleton warriors use physical attacks, skeleton mages use elemental attacks.”

“Soul Fire is a mental attack, what type of attack is Corpse Explosion?”

Recalling the various situations where he used Corpse Explosion.

Corpse Explosion felt like a fusion-type attack to him.

Based on life force, it fused physical, elemental, and other types of attacks into one.

“Let’s consider it a life-force attack for now, I’ll see the specifics later.”

“Every skill has pros and cons, can’t be careless about anything.”

He recalled what his sister Lin Mohan once said, to be careful about everything.

The Elemental Battlefield was extremely vast.

After thousands of years of war, the battlefield’s range had greatly expanded.

It was said that at the deepest part of the battlefield was the entrance to the Abyss.

From there, one could enter the true Abyss.

There were no historical records of when the Abyss appeared. It was only known that when the Abyss appeared and invaded humanity en masse, this war began.

The Abyss was synonymous with evil, destruction, and death in human eyes.

It was the enemy of all humanity.

The further from the fortress, the more monsters encountered.

Battlefield wraiths wandered this place full of killing intent and death.

Aimlessly.

Attacking anyone they saw.

Whether human or Abyss demon, all were their enemies.

The harsh environment, thousands of years of blood and flesh accumulation, Abyss power contamination – the Elemental Battlefield was full of various strange monsters.

There was a type of monster with two mouths on its head, shaped like a wild dog.

They were extremely fast, biting anyone they saw.

The two mouths alternately spewed flames, like mages.

There was another type of monster completely made of stone blocks, wrapped in the blood of the battlefield.

Its whole body was enveloped by various elements, with extremely strong resistance to elemental attacks.

Lin Moyu had ten skeleton mages attack it.

It took a full minute of attacks to kill it.

There were far too many monsters like this on the Elemental Battlefield.

Even if cleared out, they would quickly regenerate. They could never be completely killed off.

While advancing, he occasionally encountered human teams.

Not necessarily from the Divine Summer Empire, there were teams from other countries too.

They all showed surprise when they saw Lin Moyu.

Acting alone was rare on the Elemental Battlefield.

But seeing Lin Moyu’s skeletons, they understood.

“About half an hour more, we should reach the dungeon soon.”

Lin Moyu had been walking for over two hours.

The mist ahead suddenly surged violently. Lin Moyu instantly became alert.

Three people ran out of the mist.

A knight, an archer, and a prophet.

The three were fleeing in panic, seemingly running for their lives.

The mist surged even more violently, as if more things were coming.

The panicked knight saw Lin Moyu and shouted loudly, “Run quickly! There are Abyss demons behind us!”
