Catastrophic necromancer

Chapter 80: A New Star, or a Lone Wolf

Shu Han arrived at the right time, as Lin Moyu had a question to ask her.

“Do you know which dungeons give higher experience?”

He originally thought dungeon experience was mostly based on level – higher level dungeons would naturally give more experience.

But now it seemed that wasn’t necessarily the case.

The level 17 Mutant Forest dungeon and level 20 Spider’s Nest dungeon.

Only a 3 level difference, but nearly 3 times the experience difference.

And once he became familiar, he could improve efficiency even more next time.

Shu Han wasn’t surprised at all. “Spider’s Nest is also called the Experience Paradise. Among dungeons below level 25, it gives the most experience.”

Experience Paradise – an interesting description.

The huge number of monsters, each small spider not giving much experience, but adding up to an astonishing amount.

Shu Han suddenly added, “But in my opinion, it can’t really be calculated that way. If you don’t care about point consumption, Spider’s Nest actually doesn’t give that much experience.”

Oh?

Lin Moyu thought for a moment and understood Shu Han’s meaning.

The high experience was based on the large number of monsters.

But finding and clearing monsters takes time.

It took him 1 hour 32 minutes to clear the dungeon this time.

The experience seemed high, nearly 3 times that of Mutant Forest.

But he could clear Mutant Forest in just over 20 minutes at his fastest.

In the time it took to run Spider’s Nest once, he could run Mutant Forest four times.

In the same amount of time, Mutant Forest would actually give more total experience.

So why did people say Spider’s Nest was the Experience Paradise?

The key was in the points.

Repeatedly running a dungeon required constantly removing cooldowns.

For low-level dungeons like this, entry only cost 10 points, but removing cooldown cost 40 points.

That’s why Spider’s Nest became known as the Experience Paradise.

“Thank you,” Lin Moyu sincerely thanked Shu Han.

Shu Han waved her hand, “No need to thank me, you would have found out sooner or later.”

She could tell Lin Moyu didn’t seem to care much about points.

Lin Moyu asked, “Are there any dungeons that can be cleared quickly but still give high experience?”

“Clear quickly and give high experience… hmm…” Shu Han tilted her head in thought.

Lin Moyu figured such dungeons must be rare.

After thinking for a while, Shu Han’s eyes suddenly lit up. “You could team up for the Tyrant Desert large dungeon.”

In the Dungeon Hall, there were 3 special dungeons.

2 large dungeons plus 1 super large dungeon.

Large dungeons normally required 40-person teams to complete.

Super large dungeons needed over 100 people.

With good equipment and high enough levels, large dungeons could be done with 30 or even 25 people.

This gave rise to a new business – carrying others.

Many students formed teams to carry people through large dungeons for leveling.

Those being carried didn’t need to fight, just pay some points.

Large dungeons had many monsters and high experience, allowing for fast leveling.

Shu Han continued, “The university is afraid of us getting in danger, so dungeon level requirements are very strict. But large dungeons are an exception.”

“Tyrant Desert is a level 25 large dungeon. You can enter from level 20, up to level 30 – a 10 level range.”

“When you reach level 20, you can look for a team in the team center. Pay some points and people will carry you for leveling.”

“After all, the higher the dungeon level, the harder and more dangerous it is to solo.”

Lin Moyu understood her good intentions and thanked her softly.

Shu Han giggled, “It’s nothing, I got paid in points after all.”

“It’s getting late, I’ll head back to rest.”

“If you have any questions in the future, feel free to ask me.”

She used a teleportation stone to leave the Dungeon Hall.

It was late now. Lin Moyu checked the time – 9 PM.

After a full day of fighting, he had to admit he was tired too.

Though he had just leveled up, restoring all attributes to peak,

And any injuries would have been healed upon leveling,

The mental fatigue from long battles couldn’t be erased.

Also, the skeleton warriors were all injured in that last fight.

Though not severely, it would take some time to fully recover.

Lin Moyu looked at the dungeon and decided to come back tomorrow.

He activated the teleportation stone and left the Dungeon Hall.

The university was quiet at night as Lin Moyu walked back to his dorm.

He hadn’t expected so much to happen in just two days since arriving at the university.

This life was undoubtedly much more exciting than high school.

High school taught mostly basic world knowledge. Most knowledge related to careers after transition wasn’t taught, and he couldn’t find extra materials.

Because schools didn’t know what type of career you’d transition to.

Combat, support, or life class.

So they only taught basic general knowledge.

Only after transitioning to a combat class would you learn more combat-related knowledge.

The same for support classes.

Some support classes like Prophet and Elven Elder also participated in combat.

But Alchemists and Potion Masters might never enter dungeons their whole lives.

Knowledge was strictly stratified.

In a few days, career professionals admitted to Summer Capital University from all over would arrive.

Then the university would arrange unified classes to teach all the necessary knowledge.

Lin Moyu wasn’t in a hurry now.

Back at his dorm, he ate some food to fill his stomach.

Before leaving for the trial, Ning Yiyi had bought a lot of food, some of which was left with him.

He summoned 4 skeleton warriors and sent them into his summoning space.

The number of skeleton warriors reached 116.

Moments later, faint breathing sounds arose as Lin Moyu entered a meditative state.

In a secret space in Summer Capital University.

Three people sat drinking together.

Bai Yiyuan smiled, “How about it? I told you this kid was good.”

Meng Anwen sat across from him. “Soloing the Mermaid dungeon three times, getting all three Mermaid’s Tears this year. Slapped the Cherry Blossom Country people’s faces hard, stepped on that Onmyoji, and let those Hidden Dragon Academy kids see how lacking they are.”

“Don’t think you’re so great just because the university cultivated you. Looking down on the national top scholar, finally got a taste of your own medicine.”

Meng Anwen grinned mischievously, glancing at Hong Shan beside him as he spoke.

Hong Shan was the dean of Hidden Dragon Academy. His students had been humiliated, so naturally he was displeased.

He snorted, ignoring Meng Anwen.

Bai Yiyuan chuckled, “Actually, I put him in this trial just to see the kid’s abilities. He talks too little, can barely squeeze out a fart in half a day.”

Meng Anwen took a sip of tea. “What’s his talent? Did you ask clearly?”

“I asked. It’s enhancement, but I didn’t ask exactly how much. Probably not little.”

Meng Anwen gave him a strange look.

Bai Yiyuan drank some tea. “That’s someone’s secret, not good to ask. Did I ask about your talent? Would you be happy if someone pried into your business?”

Meng Anwen felt he would lose his temper if someone pried into his talent.

“Indeed, let’s not ask then. Enhancement is a good talent, it’s appeared before.”

“If his skills are strong enough, plus this talent, his future is promising.”

Bai Yiyuan smiled, “I also think this kid has a bright future. And his sister is already a member of Creation God Academy, favored by the old man who’s cultivating her with full effort.”

Hiss!

Even the usually calm Meng Anwen drew in a sharp breath.

He wasn’t surprised someone could enter Creation God Academy.

Though everyone there was a genius, not everyone would necessarily become a great figure.

But to be favored by the old man…

That was completely different.

Bai Yiyuan slapped his thigh and laughed, “Gave you a big shock, right? I was shocked too at the time.”

Meng Anwen asked, “Do you know the reason?”

Bai Yiyuan shook his head, “To be favored by the old man, she must have some extraordinary qualities. You know how high his standards are. Would he look favorably on ordinary people?”

“Looks like our human race will have two new stars before long.”

Meng Anwen sipped his tea, speaking leisurely.

Hong Shan, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke, “One new star, and one lone wolf.”

Lin Moyu talked too little, rarely interacting with others.

He really did seem like a lone wolf.
