Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Earth, Diamond Home.

Lu Li drove the Panamera, having just dropped Liu Kexin off at work, and returned to the doorstep.

Suddenly, a shadow darted out from the side, directly approaching the car and tapping on the window.

Lu Li had already noticed this person. He rolled down the window and looked outside, asking, ”Old Gu, what’s up?”

Gu Wei, dressed in a suit, replied with a beaming smile, ”There’s a bit of business. The Galaxy Alliance sent a daily report, and I’ve come to deliver it to you.”

Leaning on the car window, Lu Li chuckled silently, ”Usually, they’d just send any staff member to deliver these reports, but today you’ve come in person. It seems something big has happened.”

Well, he knew perfectly well what had happened.

Gu Wei casually handed over the report, chuckling as he said, ”I wouldn’t know what’s happened. They just told me to come, so here I am, checking in on you.”

Lu Li joked, ”So, if they hadn’t told you to come, you wouldn’t check in on me?”

Gu Wei smiled wryly, ”Please, don’t put that label on me. Of course, I would come! It’s just that you’ve been so busy lately, I wouldn’t know where to find you.”

Lu Li pointed at the small villa, ”Come in for a chat.”

Gu Wei promptly replied, ”Alright.”

Then Lu Li remotely opened the gate and drove the car into the garage first.

Entering the house with Gu Wei, he asked Aunt Huang to pour two cups of tea and brought out some snacks.

The two sat on the sofa, chatting leisurely.

Lu Li, crossing his legs, said, ”Old Gu, I remember your position isn’t low, is it?”

Gu Wei sipped his tea, gently putting the cup down as he said, ”It’s alright, something akin to middle-to-senior management.”

Lu Li blinked, ”Interested in taking on a more significant role?”

Gu Wei chuckled, ”Who wouldn’t? But on one hand, it takes time to build experience, and on the other hand, you need enough prestige. I’m still relatively young and lack the prestige. Having my current position is thanks to you. Thinking higher, I honestly wouldn’t dare.”

Lu Li waved his hand, ”I’m not talking about your system.”

Gu Wei was taken aback, ”You mean?”

Lu Li said, ”Isn’t the Galaxy Alliance having the ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’ election now?”

Gu Wei nodded, ”I know about it. You are Earth’s candidate. Soon, the Orion Arm Interstellar Alliance will start the mid-term election. If you secure a win then, you can represent Spiral Arm Interstellar Alliance, competing with candidates from the other three Spiral Arm Interstellar Alliances and the four major tertiary civilizations, and then vie for the final victory, becoming our Lord of Ten Thousand Stars.”

”That’s right.” Lu Li nodded slightly, ”The term of the ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’ in the Galaxy Alliance is fifty Earth years. Even if I get elected, I can’t possibly be tied to the position for such a long time. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

This matter had been on his mind for a long time.

Initially, he had no interest in the ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’ at all.

However, as Lu Li’s power grew, he sensed he might not be able to stay in this universe for long.

He felt it necessary to establish a massive force to ensure the safety of his loved ones and friends.

In truth, creating a huge force wasn’t difficult for him.

The hard part was winning over people.

Winning over people’s hearts seems simple; if you promise benefits, maybe they will follow all commands for a short time. But will they still obey your family and friends after you leave this universe?

As the saying goes, conquering a city is easy, conquering hearts is hard.

It’s the same logic in building a force.

To win people over, one must first conquer their hearts.

Lu Li didn’t have time to do so many things, nor did he enjoy doing it.

So he thought of Gu Wei, someone adept at thriving within the system.

He believed that someone like Gu Wei had the ability to help him win hearts and minds.

As for whether Gu Wei would ’betray’ in the future, Lu Li wasn’t worried at all.

Winning over the hearts and minds of thousands takes time and effort.

To win over Gu Wei’s heart, how much time and effort would it take?

Gu Wei was indeed a smart person, roughly understanding Lu Li’s meaning.

If it were someone else speaking in such a way, he might respond more subtly, but he knew Lu Li’s straightforward nature: say it directly, don’t beat around the bush.

Gu Wei said without hesitation, ”I understand.”

Lu Li acknowledged, ”I will discuss with the Galaxy Alliance to replace Earth’s ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’ candidate from me to you. As long as I step in, I believe no one will object. Then, you’ll participate in the Orion Arm Interstellar Alliance’s mid-term election as Earth’s candidate, and the final competitive election.”

Gu Wei listened earnestly, ”I have no problem with that, but I’m an unknown figure. Winning the final election, or even the Orion Arm Interstellar Alliance’s mid-term election, seems impossible.”

He was well aware of his own limitations, which is why he pointed it out.

Lu Li softly said, ”Being an unknown is fine. I will canvass votes for you. With my prestige in the Galaxy, how many votes do you think I can pull for you?”

Gu Wei’s eyes lit up, ”Enough votes to win the election.”

”Yeah.” Lu Li leaned back on the sofa, ”Of course, having me pull votes is one thing, but if you lack any prestige yourself, there might still be dissent. So, I’ll give you an opportunity to prove yourself, to gain enough prestige, or perhaps let everyone know that you represent me to some extent.”

Gu Wei did not fully understand, ”Please enlighten me, Mr. Lu.”
