Rebirth of the Godly Prodigal

As the music producer of Wind Pursuer , Ding Chengzhi had been dragged to this concert held by an unknown singer by Sheng Wenshi. Subconsciously, he had thought that this would be a waste of time.

Although Sheng Wenshi had praised this singer to the skies, the entertainment industry was as such—a singer’s fame decided his or her capability. The only time a singer who was not famous could get a chance was in meeting a rich man’s son.

However, Sheng Wenshi had refused to share the video that he had recorded, wanting to keep it a secret. He had only told Ding Chengzhi to wait and see.

Ding Chengzhi had been rather baffled. His time was precious, and Wind Pursuerwas in the final stage of filming. He had no time to fool around with Sheng Wenshi.

But when he had followed Sheng Wenshi, the bearded man—Miao Zian—and the rest and arrived at the venue, he had begun to feel something was amiss.

Typically, even when a rich man’s son wanted to gain the favor of others, he would not create such a big scene—just the 40 cars cost more than 30 million yuan. That couldn’t be just to make Li Nianwei happy.

Ding Chengzhi had started to pay attention to this extraordinary concert.

When the first song, “Rolling up the Beaded Curtain,” ended, Ding Chengzhi was deeply shocked in his heart. This was not a song that one would get sick of after listening to it a few times. It was a song worth listening to over and over again.

With the second song, “Lightning Pursuit,” Ding Chengzhi was completely mesmerized.

When the song ended, Ding Chengzhi was taken aback. He stood still for a full minute, then started to tremble. He rushed toward the security officer in the venue. “This is it! This is it! This is what I am looking for! Security, security! I am the music producer for Penghui Films, Ding Chengzhi. Quick, bring me to your boss. I want to meet the person who planned this concert. I want to see him! Now! Right now!”

The crowd was chanting “Li Nianwei” so loudly that it was like an avalanche. The security guard could not hear what Ding Chengzhi was saying. “Mister, what did you say? I can’t hear you!”

Ding Chengzhi anxiously jumped on the spot, shouting. “I am the music producer for Penghui Films, Ding Chengzhi. Quick, bring me to your boss!”

In such a situation, he could not make himself be heard regardless of how much he shouted. The security was puzzled and did not know what was going on. A multitude of feelings surged up, and Ding Chengzhi suddenly had an idea. He held up his fist and punched the security officer.

Then he was surrounded and kicked by a group of security officers, then dragged away…

…

Hong Dali was enjoying himself, feasting away with his classmates. They ate the best fruits and snacks, played with the most expensive and cutest dogs, and drank the most extravagant beverages, enjoying themselves to the fullest.

The crowd was cheering and listening to the concert when the stadium’s security manager knocked on the door and entered. He bowed to Hong Dali and said, “Young Young Master Dali, there’s a man who claims to be the music producer for Penghui Films. His name is Ding Chengzhi, and he wants to see Young Master Dali.” The security manager had a weird look on his face, as though he was trying hard not to laugh out loud.

Hong Dali shrugged. “Oh, let him come in. Did he say why he was looking for me?”

The security manager helplessly said, “I”m sorry. I’m afraid he can’t come to Young Master Dali. Young Master Dali has to go see him.”

Who is so arrogant? I have to go see him myself?! Hong Dali waved his hand. “No!”

The security manager wiped the sweat off his forehead. “Uh… That is not the case… Mr. Ding Chengzhi accidentally got hurt and is not able to move. He’s lying in the hospital bed now. Hence, you have to go over…”

Hong Dali mumbled. “Oh… Ask him to wait, then. I’m listening to Sister Nianwei sing.”

The security officer had no choice but to leave. “O… okay…”

Music producer of Penghui Films? Hong Dali pouted. “Who is he to be so arrogant? How badly is he injured that he can’t even walk? I have to go see him? So weird…”

While he was pondering, someone knocked on the door again. Hong Dali impatiently responded, “Who is it? Don’t you know I’m happily squandering? Don’t disturb me if it is nothing important. Don’t you know I’m really busy?!”

While he was speaking, the knocking continued. Hong Dali replied troubled, “Xiaoyi, ask him to shut up!”

When Xiaoyi opened the door, a shadow rushed in on crutches. “Are you Young Master Dali? I am the music producer of Penghui Films, Ding Chengzhi. This is my name card! May I know if the singer on the stage, Miss Li Nianwei, is an artist under your company?”

Hong Dali turned around and was amused by what he saw.

This man who claimed to be the music producer for Penghui Films, Mr. Ding Chengzhi, was dusty and dirty all over. His head had dirt all over. His face had been beaten black and blue, his arm was bandaged, and his leg was in a cast. He looked amusing, supporting himself on crutches. Hong Dali’s classmates all roared with laughter. Those who were easily amused were laughing till they were rolling on the floor. Hong Dali almost spat out the water in his mouth. “Uncle, did you come to the wrong studio? What is with your attire?”

“It was to meet you. No matter how much I shouted, the security officer couldn’t hear me. In my anxious state, I punched him.” Ding Chengzhi looked for a chair to sit down. “And I got beaten up by the security officers. But it was okay. After they dragged me out, they heard what I had to say. It was really not easy to finally meet you.”

Hearing that, Hong Dali stared in bewilderment.

This guy punched the security officer and got himself beaten up just to see me? But the security officer is innocent.

At this instant, Hong Dali finally said, “Comrade, you have worked hard!” His classmates roared with laughter once again.

Ding Chengzhi didn’t care about being embarrassed. He grabbed Hong Dali’s arm and started to shake it. He anxiously said, “Young Master Dali, Li Nianwei is the most talented and valuable singer. Definitely the first in my heart! Our company made a movie recently, Wind Pursuer . All we are short of now is a theme song for the movie. After hearing Li Nianwei sing, “Lightning Pursuit” is just the right song. Young Master Dali, would you please sell us a license for this song? Our company is more than willing to pay the licensing fee. As long as you agree, 200,000 yuan will be transferred to you at once!”

Two hundred thousand yuan for the licensing fee for one song was a good price. That was just the licensing fee, not the copyright fee. “Licensing fee” meant that Penghui Films would be able to use the song, but the song would still belong to Li Nianwei. If copyrights for the song were sold, that would mean that even the original author would not be able to use it in the future.

This was the difference between the two fees. Even the world’s top singer could hardly imagine getting 200,000 yuan for the licensing fee for a song.

While his classmates were all shocked by the matter, Hong Dali calmly drank a mouthful of water and said, “No way.”
