Cutting-edge Technology: I Provide the Brains, the State Provides Everything

77: The significance of science and technology is to free my compatriots from the torment of illness! When that rhetorical question, filled with chilling murderous intent, “How to ‘repay’ our international friends,” clearly echoed in the meeting room, which represented the highest core of power in Xia Nation.

The entire meeting room erupted!

“An eye for an eye! We must retaliate in kind!”

A hot-tempered Military Big Shot slammed his hand on the table and shouted excitedly, “They sold us targeted drugs for 100,000 yuan a box, so we’ll sell it to them for a million! No! Ten million! Buy it or don’t!”

“That’s right! We also need to implement a technology monopoly! We need to choke them! Let them also taste that desperate feeling of having no one to turn to!”

“I suggest classifying this miraculous medicine as a top-level strategic material! Strictly prohibit its export to the Western Alliance!”

Roars filled with exultation and shouts powerful enough to change the heavens and earth reverberated throughout Meeting Room No. 1!

That was anger suppressed for decades!

That was unwillingness accumulated from decades of humiliation!

That was the most primal outburst from an ancient, proud nation, finally holding the blade of dragon-slaying.

The flame of revenge!

However,

Just as all the Big Shots were immersed in the immense pleasure of “the serfs singing after their liberation.”

A discordant, calm voice slowly sounded through the highest-level encrypted line.

“Leaders.” It was Lu Chen.

He had been silently observing this top-level meeting, which determined the fates of countless people, through heavenly craft.

When Lu Chen’s voice was heard.

The entire meeting room, which had been previously agitated, instantly fell silent.

“I disagree.”

Lu Chen’s voice was not loud, but it carried an undeniable power.

“Why?!”

The hot-tempered Military Big Shot was the first to jump up!

“Lu Chen, kid! Have you gone stupid from all that research?!”

“This is our best chance to counterattack the Western Alliance!”

“Why should we give it up?!”

“Counterattack?”

From the other end of the phone came a light chuckle from Lu Chen.

The laugh was full of disdain and pity.

“Elder Ye.”

“Your perspective is still too narrow.”

That line again?!

Ye Qingcang and all the Big Shots present twitched their mouths fiercely!

They felt their hearts, which had long been tempered as hard as rock by various trials and tribulations, begin to ache faintly again!

“Using a life-saving medicine as a weapon for political games?”

Lu Chen’s voice grew somewhat cold.

“Such a dirty and shameless thing, just like those insane capitalists in the Western Alliance.”

“I, Lu Chen,”

“Disdain to do it.”

“You mean…” A hint of curiosity flashed in the leader’s wise eyes.

“My meaning is simple.”

Lu Chen’s voice on the other end of the phone was calm and clear.

“From the moment it was born, this medicine did not belong to any country or organization.”

“It belongs to all humanity.”

“Its only value and meaning is to allow all desperate people in this world, tormented by illness, to regain the hope of living.”

“Therefore, I have decided.”

“This medicine will be supplied in **unlimited quantities** at a price affordable to everyone in the world.”

“As for the price…”

He paused, then slowly uttered a terrifying number that struck all the Big Shots present like a bolt of lightning.

“Just ninety-nine yuan and eight fen a box.”

“…”

Meeting Room No. 1 once again fell into a deathly silence.

All the Big Shots felt as if they had been struck hard on their foreheads by a bolt of genesis divine lightning from the heavens!

Completely petrified!

Ninety-nine yuan and eight fen?! And even free shipping?!

You call this heaven-defying miraculous medicine, which could bankrupt all pharmaceutical giants worldwide, this?!

Ninety-nine yuan and eight fen?! Are you running a charity?!

“Lu Chen!”

The Big Shot in charge of the economy could no longer hold back!

He rushed to the communicator like a madman and roared:

“Do you know what you’re saying?!”

“This is a super gold mine worth hundreds of trillions!”

“You’re just giving it away for free?!”

“Are you worthy of the nation’s investment in you?!”

“Gold mine?”

From the other end of the phone came a sneer from Lu Chen.

“Money?”

“That thing that is just a string of meaningless numbers to me?”

“Do you think…”

“I would care?”

“The reason I want to develop technology…”

“Is not to make money.”

“Nor is it to dominate the world.”

“I simply want to…”

He slowly stood up and walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window of the Kunlun Mountain Base.

Outside the window was a vast Eastern land, full of vitality and hope.

In his dark eyes, as vast as the universe, a compassionate light named “great love” flickered.

His voice was not loud.

But like a warm ray of sunlight, it pierced through the cold communication equipment.

Clearly illuminating the depths of every Xia Nation policymaker’s soul.

“I just simply want to…”

“My parents.” “My friends.” “My loved ones.”

“And my millions of hardworking, kind, yet suffering compatriots.”

“To no longer suffer from that damned illness.”

“To be able to live with dignity, like a true human being.”

“This is the entire meaning of my developing technology.”
