Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Just by looking at the name style of the 【Earth Evasion Talisman Armor】, you could tell it came from the Prison Mountain Realm.

And things from the Prison Mountain Realm generally shared one trait: their power was heavily tied to the strength of the user themselves.

The stronger the person, the greater the effectiveness they could draw out of Prison Mountain items.

So...

If this 【Earth Evasion Talisman Armor】 were truly being used by an ordinary First-Tier player, if it were truly ”Old Yao” wielding it, the best it could do would be to help him scurry away in panic.

But there was no ”Old Yao” in this world. Within this lean, shrewd, seemingly smooth and adaptable body, there still resided a core named ”Lin Yu.”

He grabbed Kitty and King Vulture with both hands and activated the 【Earth Evasion Talisman Armor】. The talisman’s mystical power instantly enveloped the trio, sinking them beneath the ground.

”Boom!”

The earth churned and softened as Lin Yu and the two women plummeted deep into the soil, traveling a considerable distance.

Everything around them was pitch black. King Vulture and Kitty felt the violent tremors rumbling above their heads. Even though they rationally knew they were temporarily safe, the darkness and difficulty breathing made both women deeply uneasy.

Not to mention...

They had no idea what Old Yao was scheming, and they couldn’t even ask.

The only thing the two could do underground was hold tightly onto Lin Yu.

But fortunately...

Lin Yu didn’t torment them for long.

”Whoosh!”

He manipulated the talisman armor to rapidly retreat backward. Since those Brass King Sentinels didn’t rely on sight or sound to lock onto targets, even underground, Lin Yu could still sense them tracking his position.

At the same time, they also had measures designed to deal with hidden enemies like this.

The sentinels’ hands morphed into heavy hammers, raising high one by one, preparing to smash the ground!

But Lin Yu naturally wasn’t going to give them that chance.

With his mastery, the 【Earth Evasion Talisman Armor】 moved through the earth faster than he could even sprint at full speed on the surface.

”Boom!”

The hammers came crashing down, the ground shuddering. The downward shockwaves penetrated the soil, creating intense resonance.

Yet Lin Yu, already deep within, had put a considerable distance between himself and the impact.

Moreover...

This wasn’t a mindless, panicked flight.

From the very moment Lin Yu had entered the ground with the 【Earth Evasion Talisman Armor】, he’d had a clear route planned.

Even though the foundations and walls of the massive building behind them extended deep into the earth...

Not far from where they’d been standing, there was a ”gap”!

”Whoosh!”

In the blink of an eye, Lin Yu had already led King Vulture and Kitty to the gap he’d identified beforehand.

Then...

Past the gap, and upward!

In no time, Lin Yu burst out of the ground with the two women, entering the interior of the research institute.

The gap in the domed institute led to a place resembling an ”experimental plot.”

Enclosed within a glass room, several withered herbaceous plants were planted in the loose soil.

Since most of the internal systems had lost power, the entire glass-enclosed experimental plot was pitch dark as well.

However...

The feeling of breathing freely again reminded King Vulture and Kitty that they were completely safe now.

”Where is this?”

King Vulture asked in confusion.

”It should be inside that building we saw earlier... I happened to discover this gap after getting underground,” Lin Yu said in a tone of ”relief.” ”We got really lucky... Otherwise, we might’ve escaped the first crisis only to die in the next.”

”Indeed. But it’s quite surprising that you actually had a means of escape through the ground.”

Kitty said, also astonished.

”As the saying goes, standing behind a big tree gives the best shade. This is all thanks to the item gifted to me by our boss, the Tycoon,” Lin Yu humbly deflected all the credit, then added, ”Anyway... this place seems temporarily safe for now. These research institutes generally have tight outer security but lax inner security. Most of the experiments they conduct here are highly dangerous, so if the internal security systems were too sensitive, it’d be all too easy to cause accidental casualties.”

”So the two of you should wait here for now...”

Lin Yu activated the 【Earth Evasion Talisman Armor】 again, his body beginning to sink back into the ground.

”What are you planning to do?”

King Vulture asked in surprise.

”Why, I’m going to help Furbollo, of course. He used up a lot of energy earlier. If he has to go head-to-head against those sentinels, it definitely won’t be easy for him,” Lin Yu said, struggling to raise his thumb as his body descended. ”Avoid a fight when you can! Preserving your strength is what matters most!”

”Besides, everyone went through so much trouble to come find me. Now that I can actually help... I definitely can’t just sit by and do nothing!”

With that, Lin Yu’s body vanished completely into the soil.

Then...

He accelerated rapidly underground, immediately locking onto Fu Luo’s position with his mental energy.

That kid could run pretty fast!

At this moment, having lost track of Lin Yu’s trio, those sentinels naturally shifted their target immediately, concentrating all their attention on Fu Luo alone.

Seven sentinels formed an encirclement, tightly sealing Fu Luo near the research institute.

But...

Although Fu Luo couldn’t escape the encirclement, he didn’t seem to have taken any substantial damage through his nimble dodging and weaving.

Lin Yu quietly poked his head out from the soil to observe Fu Luo.

Riding his scooter, Fu Luo was zipping back and forth within the sentinels’ encirclement. The sentinels’ attacks rained down relentlessly, yet Fu Luo narrowly avoided every single one!

That was no easy feat.

After all... those sentinels looked massive, but they weren’t clumsy.

And once they switched to hammer form, each attack had an enormous area of effect.

Most importantly...

Lin Yu knew these sentinels’ traits. They could actually ”predict” a person’s movements.

While their ”mind reading” wasn’t on the level of actual telepathy, they could predict likely evasion and movement routes by sensing where the opponent’s thoughts were focused.

But right now... their attempts to read Fu Luo’s behavior and predict his attacks were clearly failing repeatedly.

Lin Yu could easily guess what was happening.

”Fu Luo must have quickly deduced this ability from my words and the sentinels’ earlier attack patterns, and he’s even started deliberately using his own ’thoughts’ to mislead them!”

That kid was actually pretty sharp. If those sentinels had just been swinging wildly without reason, they might have caused Fu Luo even more trouble.

However...

Lin Yu also knew that even though Fu Luo still looked to be handling things with ease, he really couldn’t hold out much longer.

Scooting around on his skateboard, he was clearly running out of stamina and had completely lost all composure. Not only was his face flushed, sweat pouring down like rain, and his tongue nearly hanging out of his mouth, but even his hat was crooked.

”This guy really is a physical weakling...”

Lin Yu sighed, knowing it was time for him to make his move.

He shifted his position underground, then reached his hand up along Fu Luo’s movement trajectory.

”Thump!”

”Son of a bitch!”

Fu Luo’s pained cry came from above.

”What the hell tripped me?!”
