Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

From Fu Luo’s reaction, Lin Yu could easily draw his conclusion.

”This guy is probably the real deal...”

Although Lin Yu had initially harbored suspicions about Fu Luo, after all, based on his understanding of Fu Luo, it was frankly unbelievable that he could remain so calm and maintain control of the situation when facing the ”crisis” of someone infiltrating the player group.

But looking at it now...

It was just that Fu Luo’s ability to project composure and confidence when others placed their hopes and expectations on him was even more impressive than Lin Yu had imagined.

After all...

From his genuine enthusiasm for detective fiction and his disdain for Detective Conan, particularly the parts featuring Kyogoku Masatake, Lin Yu felt there was very little chance he had been replaced.

After all, even though the fog and dim lighting obscured most details and facial expressions, his natural tone of voice definitely didn’t seem like an act.

Unless the monster disguised as Fu Luo had Movie King-level dialogue delivery, Lin Yu would definitely have caught a flaw.

And while the others weren’t as familiar with Fu Luo as Lin Yu and couldn’t be certain he was the real deal, Fu Luo’s smooth responses indeed gave them no opening to catch any inconsistency.

So, Fu Luo naturally completed his ”self-verification” for the time being.

”Alright, everyone, I’ve given you a demonstration. Now let’s go one by one, each sharing something about yourselves that you can reveal.”

As Fu Luo spoke, the man wearing the gas mask began.

”Then let me start... After all, many of you probably still think I’m the most suspicious one, right?”

”But honestly, I haven’t been targeted by that monster. I’m a genuine human being.”

”Although I don’t intend to tell you folks from the big organizations my ID, nor do I want to reveal my identity, there’s still plenty I can tell you.”

”For instance, although I currently live in a major city on the southeast coast, my hometown and ancestral roots are actually in Gan Province.”

”I don’t have a job, but I usually collect military equipment as a hobby and discuss military topics with friends online - what you’d commonly call a military otaku.”

”You can probably tell from my gear... This is stuff I specially saved up for after joining this damn ’Death Game.’ The good thing is, I can get high-quality ’active-duty military equipment,’ and it’s completely legal and compliant - well, although it doesn’t belong to any country we know of.”

As he spoke, a hint of helplessness crept into his tone.

”So, which country’s equipment is your favorite?”

Fu Luo asked in return.

”Ours, of course. Aside from patriotic sentiment... our infantry individual equipment is truly leading the pack by far. It’s not like a decade or so ago,” the man said with some pride. ”It’s just a shame... getting your hands on our own active-duty equipment is really too difficult.”

”Of course, this set I have was taken from the Sleepless City, so in terms of technology level, it might actually be a bit higher.”

Like Fu Luo, he spoke with great enthusiasm when discussing his own field.

Wang Jiu, who was actually more knowledgeable this time than when they’d discussed detective fiction, spoke up: ”So do you like fighter jets more, warships more, or tanks more?”

”Fighter jets, of course! They’re humanity’s symbol of conquering the sky with steel, the ultimate longing for freedom - and moreover, every weapon iteration after the invention of gunpowder was merely an internal upgrade within the same era. Only the emergence of fighter jets truly rewrote the dimensions of human warfare as a groundbreaking invention.”

”The roaring death from above overturned the sand table where only mountains and rivers existed. Intelligence, visibility, air superiority - these are the truly critical components of ’modern warfare.’ After all, no matter how vast the land is, it’s ultimately finite... but the height and breadth of the sky - it’s infinite!”

As he spoke, his voice grew almost impassioned. It wasn’t so much an introduction to his hobbies as it was some kind of motivational speech.

”The Air Force really should hire you to give presentations - I’m sure you could bump their budget up by a few percentage points,” Wang Jiu remarked with admiration. ”I’m feeling a bit fired up just listening to you.”

”Looking at it more carefully, the gear you’re wearing looks like the SK series air assault squad style from the Divine Power Group’s Pioneer Team,” Fu Luo said, recalling the man’s military uniform. ”You didn’t just buy the equipment, did you? You actually received training?”

”Ha, that involves my personal privacy... Lord Furbollo, I decline to answer,” the man suddenly became alert. ”Given your standing in the Sleepless City, if you ask a few more questions, that’d be enough for you to dig up my identity info on your next visit.”

Fu Luo shrugged: ”You’re pretty protective of your privacy, huh...”

”Of course. I don’t want to end up with ’Freud’s’ inheritance in hand, only to be chased down by the major organizations.”

As the man in the gas mask spoke, Nineteen chimed in.

”Don’t worry, your chances of getting that inheritance... are practically zero.”

”Ha, I won’t trouble you to worry about that.”

At that moment, Chlorpromazine, who hadn’t spoken until now, asked: ”Anyway, let’s get back to the hobbies you can talk about... Which aircraft do you think is the most beautiful and sexy?”

”Aircraft can be beautiful and sexy? What kind of question is that?”

Kitty couldn’t help muttering.

The others also felt something was a bit odd upon hearing this.

But only the man in the gas mask and military uniform, the one being asked, answered without hesitation.

”Without a doubt, the MiG-29... especially the MiG-29K!”

”As a fourth-generation fighter, its tail fins, aspect ratio, and sweep angle are practically golden proportions. The twin tail fins combined with the twin-engine layout make it a beautiful work of art. The Soviet aesthetic of the Cold War era and the fourth-generation fighter philosophy are perfectly fused into one machine... Later fighters became more advanced, but humanity has never been able to build a more beautiful or sexier fighter jet than this one.”

There was a hint of intoxication in his voice.

Hearing this speech, Chlorpromazine let out a breath: ”Folks, I think this guy is definitely a genuine human being.”

”Indeed, the creatures of the Misty Islands probably aren’t this twisted. Even if they tried to imitate it, they couldn’t pull it off,” Nineteen remarked with admiration. ”This brother’s purity level is legit.”

”What, are you all incapable of appreciating the charm of the MiG-29?”

The man in the gas mask asked in confusion.

Fu Luo shook his head: ”No, I don’t even know what a MiG-29 looks like.”

”Then you’ve wasted your life, Detective!”

”Alright, alright,” Fu Luo wasn’t annoyed. ”Anyway... I’m now a hundred percent certain this guy is human too - let’s fast-forward to the next person.”
