Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

After four hours of long-distance travel, Lin Yu returned to Zheng City in the evening.

Dusty and travel-worn, he returned to the hotel, sat down in his room, and let out a long breath.

”Although it saves money and keeps a low profile, this method really drains your mental energy.”

Tomorrow morning there was still a performance, and tonight he had to squeeze in an extra dungeon...

And he would be participating under the identity of ”Old Yao.”

Although all he really needed to do was enter, send the coordinates, and stay alive, at most trying to locate the inheritance coordinates of ”Freud.”

Sounded easy enough on the surface.

After all, according to Tycoon’s intel, there should be eight participants in this extra dungeon.

Besides himself as ”Old Yao,” there were seven others.

Among them, the ones that could truly be called allies numbered ”three.”

The Night Watchmen would send a powerful Second Tier player to participate, someone who could serve as a safety net inside the island.

The Order, though in principle not involved in this matter, had also found an additional unaffiliated First Tier expert similar to Tycoon.

The Player Mutual Aid Association also had a First Tier participating in a personal capacity.

As for the opposing side...

The Psychological Society and the Marauders would each likely send one person.

Whether the two organizations had formed a cooperative relationship at this point was anyone’s guess.

So, before the ”reinforcements” from each organization arrived...

The numbers on our side versus theirs stood at four to two, which was enough to declare ”advantage is mine.”

And since two of the items used for entry this time, things called ”Sky Airship Sixth Island Special Route One-Way Tickets,” were freely circulating at the gathering, another two one-way tickets seemed to have been purchased by players who hadn’t joined any well-known organizations.

Even if those two both sided with the Psychological Society and the Marauders, it would only be a four-to-four tie at best.

Moreover...

Lin Yu knew very well that one of them was Fern.

She, who also coveted Freud’s inheritance, would absolutely not side with the Psychological Society.

In fact, because the core demand of the Order, the Night Watchmen, and Tycoon’s side was to prevent the First Generation Freud’s inheritance from falling into the Psychological Society’s hands...

That girl with dissociative identity disorder was actually more likely to cooperate with the Order’s side.

Furthermore, anyone who treated him as an ordinary First Tier Thief when calculating combat power would receive a very intense ”surprise” from him at the appropriate moment.

But for Lin Yu, saying that this extra dungeon would be a relaxing, easy coasting session definitely wouldn’t be accurate either.

Because Lin Yu had no intention of merely coasting.

His goal was also to claim the First Generation Freud’s inheritance for himself!

This was supposed to be his anyway, from a legal standpoint, Lin Yu had a stronger claim to this inheritance than the Psychological Society.

The brain of the First Generation Freud himself was lying right there in his own item space, was there any stronger ”legitimate claim” than that?

After lying in bed quietly resting with his eyes closed, Lin Yu soon felt a disturbance emanating from within his item space.

It was the ”Sky Airship Sixth Island Special Route One-Way Ticket” reminding Lin Yu that it was time to use it.

Lin Yu immediately focused his mind, sat up from the bed, and gripped the airship one-way ticket in his hand.

Soon... a strange power surged forth from the ticket, and as Lin Yu held it, vast billowing mist suddenly welled up before his eyes.

White fog rose from all around, swallowing his entire field of vision, everything in the room becoming blurred and indistinct.

After a brief moment of dazed disorientation...

Even though he was sitting on the bed, a slight sensation of weightlessness suddenly came from beneath him.

Then, the blood text prompt appeared before his eyes.

[Special loading detected, about to join the game——]

[Game Name: Lamenter’s Weep]

[Clear Condition: Destroy the ”Cursed Statues”]

[Number of Players in This Game: 8]

The blood text faded, and Lin Yu regained his senses.

A cacophony of noise rang in his ears, and he looked around, finding himself aboard an airship.

The space inside the airship was quite spacious, with each person having their own separate seat.

And on this airship...

There were only eight passengers.

That was reasonable, though, because among the six realms with known records in the Ten Realms, the Misty Islands had the fewest ”living people”!

With over three hundred small islands, the total number of intelligent life forms might only be a few tens of thousands.

The style of this realm was very much like a world slowly recovering after some continent-wide disaster and war had caused it to ”decline.”

Self-operating machinery, puppets, and various abandoned facilities outnumbered living people.

This meant that every native you could actually converse with in the Misty Islands mostly had some real skills.

And more often than not, you wouldn’t see a single native at all.

So...

The eight living people on this airship were naturally most likely all Players!

With this kind of opening setup, Lin Yu couldn’t help but instantly tense up.

Stuffing members of the Order, the Psychological Society, the Night Watchmen, and the Marauders all into one enclosed transport space at the same time, even if they all started fighting the next second, it would be entirely plausible.

So, the top priority... was identifying friend from foe.

Lin Yu swept his gaze across the cabin and immediately spotted two familiar figures.

One was naturally Moss, who had been notified in advance to come, though judging by her current appearance and demeanor, the one in control of the body right now should be Fern, that Swindler.

And the other...

Lin Yu pressed his forehead and sighed.

”The Order sent out their unaffiliated First Tier... why does it have to be this guy?”

A tall, handsome guy wearing a sun hat sat in his seat, pulling a piece of chocolate from his chest and popping it into his mouth.

That face of his, Lin Yu knew all too well.

The most famous great Detective among the player community, Furbollo, Fu Luo!

Although he grumbled inwardly, Lin Yu actually understood why it was Fu Luo who had come.

After all, the Misty Islands was a place that heavily required puzzle-solving abilities.

And Fu Luo, while satisfying both conditions of being a trustworthy unaffiliated member and a not-too-powerful First Tier, was also exceptionally skilled at handling all kinds of riddles.

It was just that...

In this kind of situation on the airship, having Fu Luo as one of your teammates was hardly a cause for optimism!

Lin Yu grumbled inwardly while observing the remaining personnel.

Soon, he found another familiar figure.

Though he had only seen this person once and hadn’t even gotten a look at their face, Lin Yu quickly locked onto who the Psychological Society had sent this time.

”That’s that Ninja...”

Lin Yu immediately recognized Chlorpromazine based on their body silhouette.

Back when the ”Zhu Ming” identity hadn’t yet left the Psychological Society, Lin Yu had secretly found his information through internal channels.

If he remembered correctly, this guy often operated alongside Fluoxetine, essentially serving as Fluoxetine’s Assistant.
