Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Lin Yu had already used the Crow’s mark during his second ”Promotion.”

However, as a ”Fraudster,” once Lin Yu learned what that entity’s mark looked like, he naturally resolved to make full use of it.

And using this trick in the Misty Islands was absolutely perfect!

As a god, if someone chanted their name within the world they governed, they would naturally be able to sense it.

By leveraging this, Lin Yu could naturally turn this false ”mark” back into something real.

Sure enough—

That Crow wouldn’t miss out on such excitement.

And once the other party actually showed up...

Lin Yu’s goal was accomplished.

Standing across from Lin Yu, the ”Diving Merchant” wearing the diving suit was indeed considered a formidable figure in the Misty Islands.

And precisely because of that...

He could clearly sense that this ”otherworldly being” before him emanated a distinct aura belonging to divine status.

This was a unique aura that no clever swindler, no cunning scoundrel, could ever fake.

He stared at Lin Yu, almost roaring in a low voice: ”Impossible... impossible, why would you receive His favor! You can even summon Him directly!”

Lin Yu looked back at the Diving Merchant and shrugged.

”Maybe because I successfully deceived Him... twice.”

As Lin Yu spoke, the Diving Merchant remained in disbelief.

”You... you...”

But the facts were right before his eyes—the divine aura could not be forged.

In the instant the other party was struck speechless by shock, Lin Yu looked at him and offered a smile.

”Now, do you still want to kill me?”

The Diving Merchant didn’t answer. After a long silence, he spoke: ”You’re even more formidable than I imagined.”

”So, you probably won’t become the next ’Freud.’”

Hearing this, Lin Yu laughed.

”Thanks for the compliment.”

The Diving Merchant let out a long sigh.

”I won’t interfere with you anymore... I don’t have the capital to keep opposing you anyway. Just the Lord of the Sixth Island alone is enough of a headache for me, let alone the fact that you’ve summoned an existence like that.”

”I’ll leave—but after I’m gone, those rivals of yours will start making their moves.”

Hearing the other party’s words, Lin Yu shook his head: ”No matter, I was planning to let them find this place anyway... If they could never find it, then my plan wouldn’t be able to proceed in the first place.”

The Diving Merchant was taken aback and asked in return: ”So your goal isn’t just to obtain the ’inheritance’?”

”You could say ’not just that.’ In our world, there are also all kinds of struggles and factions, as you can probably tell,” Lin Yu said calmly. ”It’s rare for so many people from different forces to gather here like this. Wouldn’t it be a shame not to set up a scheme?”

Hearing Lin Yu’s words, the Diving Merchant opened his mouth.

”I’m starting to understand why an otherworldly being like you could receive His favor.”

With that, the Diving Merchant pulled out a gadget that looked like a ”gun” and fired a shot at the rock wall.

”Bang!”

A twisted ”spatial passage” opened on the rock wall, leading to who knows where.

The Diving Merchant was about to slip through and leave when Lin Yu spoke up.

”Hold on, I never said you could leave now.”

These words caught the Diving Merchant off guard.

”What do you mean?”

”You just threatened to kill me, so now you owe me some compensation,” Lin Yu said, staring intently at the ”teleportation gun” in the other party’s hand. ”Leave that thing behind!”

”Absolutely not. This is the highest crystallization of the Misty Islands’ previous civilization—a top-tier creation on the same project level as the ’Mind Core Hub,’” the Diving Merchant refused outright. ”Even I only have this one!”

”That’s true, but you also only have one life,” Lin Yu said, raising his wrist. ”What, do you dare to oppose my big brother?”

The Diving Merchant laughed: ”You’re bluffing. Even if He favors you, He would never personally act to annihilate me on your behalf.”

Lin Yu looked at the mark on his wrist: ”Alright then, great and noble God of Change, look here—even the lamb in your territory dares to look down on you. Don’t you think they deserve a lesson?”

The crude Crow drawing had been sitting on Lin Yu’s wrist watching the show. Now, upon hearing Lin Yu’s words, it immediately jumped up, ruffled its nonexistent feathers, and spoke with a low chuckle.

”Ka—I really won’t kill him. Figure it out yourself.”

”Useless thing,” Lin Yu cursed, then thought for a moment and looked at the Diving Merchant. ”Fine then, in that case... I’ll have to let you in on a bit more.”

”That ’Freud’ you despise, fear, and revere—in a sense, I truly am his successor. But... I’m not just simply his successor.”

”As you said, I really am stronger than him!”

As Lin Yu spoke, he took out a glowing brain from his chest.

The moment he pulled it out, Lin Yu immediately told Old Zheng.

”We’re right below the Sixth Island right now, I’ve already met your sweetheart, so you better play dead immediately like you’ve been dead for years!”

As Lin Yu spoke, Old Zheng understood the hint and gave no feedback whatsoever—just like a brain that had lost all activity.

The Diving Merchant stared at the glowing brain that radiated light but possessed no vitality or life force, his face turning pale with horror.

”Could this be...”

”That’s right, this is ’Freud’s’ remnant—if you don’t cooperate with me, I’ll pour my mental energy into it to activate his residual soul and spirit, and then the Lord of the Sixth Island will discover it!”

Lin Yu looked at the Diving Merchant and said seriously: ”Now, can I threaten you?”

The Diving Merchant’s face was filled with terror: ”Who exactly are you?”

”Just an ordinary otherworldly being who was lucky enough to receive some of the great ’Freud’s’ inheritance,” Lin Yu said, his face breaking into a brilliant smile. ”Alright, now... put that teleportation gun down.”

The Diving Merchant pondered, then slowly placed the teleportation gun on the ground.

”Now, tell me your name, and take off your helmet so I can see what you look like—don’t play dumb with me, friend. I know that diving suit of yours is just a decoration to hide your appearance and figure, armor to enhance your combat ability. You actually have the innate ability to move underwater.”

Lin Yu looked at the other party and pushed his luck even further.

He knew the intel on the ”Diving Merchant,” and he also knew the analysis written by ”Professor” within ”Order”—so Lin Yu was somewhat curious about the other party’s true identity.

Faced with Lin Yu’s unreasonable demand, the Diving Merchant sighed again.

”How excessive... but I’ll agree.”

”Not because of your threats, but because you’ve been favored by Him!”

As he spoke, he slowly removed his helmet, revealing a face tinged with iron-gray—literally a metallic luster in the most literal sense of the word.

Lin Yu gasped in shock.

”What the hell... your true form is actually a ’Puppet’?!”
