Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Upon hearing the Tycoon’s invitation, Lin Yu was already mentally prepared, but he still showed a shocked expression on his face.

Or rather, he had planned exactly this ”shocked” expression.

And he had prepared it quite carefully—not an ordinary ”shock,” but a mix of ”30% doubt, 30% flattered, and 40% disbelief.”

Anyone who saw Lin Yu’s expression at this moment would naturally assume that he was feeling exactly that.

The Tycoon was no exception.

He looked at Lin Yu’s expression with some pride.

“No need to answer me right away; you can take some time to think about it!”

“Although our Jiang’an Hall is just a local organization, here in Jiangcheng… I still have the confidence to say we’re one of the top few!”

“Besides, you’ve probably seen some things about me on the forum… I’m the one who can organize the Jiangcheng Gathering recognized by the forum, so naturally, I have some real strength—our Jiang’an Hall is also one of the cooperative organizations of the Order.”

“In other words, within Jiangcheng’s territory, our Jiang’an Hall can represent the Order to some extent!”

The Tycoon said proudly.

Seeing the Tycoon’s smug expression, Lin Yu added a little “admiration” and “reverence” to his shocked look.

“That impressive? From what I’ve read on the forum, the Order is the strongest organization! Those three groups removed from the forum? Anyone who sees the Order avoids them!”

As Lin Yu spoke, the Tycoon nodded calmly.

“That’s right. So outside the game, as long as you’re within Jiangcheng’s territory, whether it’s the Marauders, the Free Alliance… even including the Psychological Society, if they want to mess with you, I can protect you!”

“Of course, the premise is that you join our Jiang’an Hall!”

The Tycoon said earnestly.

Lin Yu looked at the Tycoon’s expression and deepened the ”doubt” on his face once more.

“But based on what you said, wouldn’t it be better for me to join the Order directly?”

As he spoke, the Tycoon laughed.

“Do you think the Order takes in people without any threshold? Although the organization has many members, recruitment is very strict… they not only assess your strength but also your character! Once you join, there are many rules!”

“If you compare the Death Game players’ circle to a martial arts world, the Order is currently the leading righteous sect.”

The Tycoon spoke while gesturing with his hand.

Although Lin Yu didn’t know what he was gesturing at, he still nodded.

“I get it, the people inside are not only strong but also righteous, right?”

Lin Yu said, and the Tycoon showed a “worthy pupil” expression.

“Exactly. Relatively speaking, our Jiang’an Hall also has rules, but basically, it’s just ‘no killing people casually in real life’ and ‘don’t betray the organization’—those basics!”

The Tycoon said, looking at Lin Yu.

“Also, if a promising young talent like you joins now, the benefits are many!”

This middle-aged man winked and smiled.

“Like the Promotion strategies? But I can’t use those right now.”

Lin Yu said casually.

That was a lie—Lin Yu knew he probably wouldn’t be able to use them later either.

The Tycoon had just said…

The various organizations’ “experience guides” were all summarized from quests of the “same profession.”

But…

Lin Yu knew he had the Unique Class, the Fraudster!

“Unique Class”—where could he find any reference for that?

Moreover, he was especially special—the third dungeon had already unlocked the Promotion Trial, and from the Tycoon’s tone…

It was probably something no one had heard of.

Therefore, these “Promotion” strategies were basically useless to Lin Yu.

The Tycoon laughed after hearing Lin Yu’s words.

“That’s why I said, no rush to decide… wait until after a few more dungeons and see!”

“Then you’ll know how good it is to have an organization!”

The Tycoon said this.

Lin Yu nodded and interrupted him.

“Thank you for your kindness, Tycoon. I’ll think it over!”

The Tycoon was a man of standards; hearing Lin Yu’s words, he also knew the other was somewhat uninterested.

“I was a bit abrupt. It seems you hold yourself in high regard and want to join a major organization,” the Tycoon sighed, “But local organizations like ours have their own advantages, and actually, I’m not weak either—have you ever looked at the ‘Bounty’ section on the forum?”

The Tycoon asked.

Lin Yu nodded. “Although I was tempted by the money from bounties, I never really understood what Promotion was, nor did I know how strong other players were, so I didn’t look to avoid making myself greedy.”

He paused. “Now that I know, I’m even less interested… after all, you said the gap between players without Promotion and those who have it is qualitative.”

Lin Yu was telling the truth.

He wanted to make money but wasn’t that desperate.

He could take some risks, but not too big.

The Tycoon smiled.

“Still, take a look. The forum section’s name really should be changed… It says ‘Bounty,’ but now it also has a ‘Ranking’ function!”

“At first, some enthusiasts compiled a list of the ‘total credit points’ carried by the supernaturals under bounty, then someone joked, why doesn’t the forum create a feature to evaluate high-level players’ strength!”

“Turns out, the forum actually made it! They created a top hundred leaderboard!”

“At first, there was a lot of controversy about how the ranking was determined, but this feature has been out for over half a year, and after various events… people have mostly accepted it!”

“At least the ranking error should be within three to five spots!”

“Of course—those on the list who have forum accounts can choose to remain anonymous.”

As the Tycoon spoke, Lin Yu finally understood.

“Sounds like you’re on that list.”

The Tycoon laughed.

“Take a look!”

Lin Yu took out his phone and opened the forum.

He then opened the “Bounty” section, where he really found a pinned post titled “Player Ranking (Real-Time Update).”

The poster was the forum’s official account.

After clicking it, names and their organizations appeared on the black forum background.

First place, General, organization Order!

Second place, Diviner, organization Marauders!

Third place, Grandmaster, organization Order!

Fourth place, anonymous player.

…

Lin Yu scrolled down a bit but did not find the Tycoon in the top ten.

He scrolled down vigorously, the page scrolling rapidly.

The Tycoon, glancing at the screen, saw the text rolling and quickly spoke up.

“Hey hey hey, you passed it! You passed it!”

Lin Yu heard the Tycoon and scrolled back up a bit.

He quickly found the Tycoon.

Twenty-seventh place, Tycoon, organization Jiang’an Hall!

Lin Yu was slightly shocked.

“Whoa, among all the players, you’re ranked twenty-seventh?”

Hearing Lin Yu’s words, the Tycoon humbly waved his hand.

“That’s nationwide players… foreign servers don’t participate in the forum rankings yet!”
