Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

As the water level in the room gradually receded, the pressure of potentially drowning at any moment disappeared, and the group’s tension visibly lessened.

Lin Yu finally had a moment to think calmly.

Suddenly, a realization struck him.

”Wait... let’s not rush into making a choice yet.”

Lin Yu interrupted everyone who was about to choose the ”blue door,” speaking in a serious tone.

Iron Uncle looked at Lin Yu with confusion: ”Is there a problem, Nine Waters... is there something wrong with this ’Three Doors Problem’?”

”It can’t be wrong - this is something already conclusively proven in mathematics.”

Unforgotten said firmly.

Lin Yu shook his head: ”No, this isn’t about the conclusion of the ’Three Doors Problem’ itself... I’m just thinking that even following that logic, the final result isn’t ’one hundred percent’... right?”

April recalled Lin Yu’s earlier words: ”I remember you said if we change our choice, the probability of picking the ’correct door’ becomes two-thirds... meaning we still have a one-third chance... of dying.”

Lin Yu nodded: ”Exactly, that’s what I’m considering - no matter how you look at it, a one-third probability is still too high.”

Hearing this, Iron Uncle sighed: ”The Death Game always involves an element of luck. In one of the eight dungeons I’ve experienced, all players even had to play Russian roulette... after all, this is the ’Death’ Game.”

Unforgotten also nodded in agreement: ”That’s right... honestly, having a two-thirds survival probability is already pretty good.”

Despite their words, Lin Yu remained unconvinced.

”But this doesn’t seem consistent with the style of this ’Deadly Quiz’ game.”

”The first two questions were ’reward-punishment questions,’ while this one is a ’choice question,’” Unforgotten waved her hand, ”Isn’t it normal for there to be differences?”

Number Eight put on a heroic expression: ”Yeah, I think we should make a decision soon - sometimes, to win the game, you need some courage.”

”When you become brave, the Goddess of Luck will stand by your side!”

Lin Yu looked at Number Eight in surprise.

This ’Student’ had been timid throughout the game, seeming even more cowardly than Chen Zhuo.

Yet now he was saying such words.

However, Number Eight’s sudden bravery lasted less than a second before being interrupted by his girlfriend April.

April poked him.

”Don’t rush the decision... I think you just don’t want to get splashed by water anymore.”

April said sternly.

Number Eight sheepishly rubbed his nose: ”Ah, you caught me.”

April sighed: ”So... when it comes to life-and-death matters, don’t interfere with others’ thinking!”

Although most of the water had already drained through the doors, the ten drainage holes and trapdoor on the ceiling were still releasing water.

The flowing water kept intermittently wetting everyone’s calves and shoes, leaving the room damp.

Splashing water also occasionally soaked their upper bodies and hair, making everyone quite uncomfortable.

But hearing April’s words...

Lin Yu suddenly realized something.

”I understand now... this isn’t the ’Three Doors Problem’ at all.”

He spoke with sudden enlightenment, then looked at Crow-Man.

”Because actually, the number of doors we can choose from was four before you opened the yellow door, and now it’s still three, right?”

As Lin Yu spoke, Crow-Man laughed.

”Caw caw, yes, it’s still a choice among three.”

Crow-Man’s words shocked Iron Uncle.

”What do you mean? Was the ’reward’ from the first round fake? Can we still choose that disappeared green door?”

”No, the ’rewards’ are all real,” Lin Yu said calmly, ”And... both reward hints were true.”

He pointed at the black trapdoor on the ceiling that was still releasing water.

”From the beginning, this guy said we needed to choose from ’doors’... but it never specified they had to be one of these four doors.”

”And if we hadn’t answered the first question correctly, this trapdoor probably wouldn’t have opened... we’d have never known there was a trapdoor above us.”

”This ’choice question’ is just like the first two ’reward-punishment questions’ - it contains a trap... one that combines elements from the previous two questions!”

Lin Yu smiled as he spoke: ”And it just said... if we choose a door, it will ’take us’ through the door.”

”Why use such strange wording... its habit of hiding traps in the questions proves in a way that... every word it says might be carefully designed.”

”So, this is also a hidden ’hint.’”

Lin Yu looked at Crow-Man and said: ”In this game, we don’t need ’probability’... trying to use the Three Doors Problem from probability theory is itself a ’mathematical’ solution.”

”But this game... at least all the questions in this room, use ’mathematics’ to conceal ’traps.’”

Hearing this, Crow-Man asked: ”But... isn’t that still not enough? What if this black door is also a ’trap’?”

Lin Yu shook his head.

”Then that’s where ’luck’ comes in... but since water is flowing from this black trapdoor, I don’t think it leads to ’the void.’”

After speaking, Lin Yu grinned.

”Moreover... the ’designer’ of this game dungeon probably wouldn’t make it so boring by setting meaningless traps, right?”

Crow-Man looked at Lin Yu, its eyes glimmering.

”Caw caw, indeed, I quite admire you.”

”State your choice - which colored door do you want to select?”

Lin Yu pointed upward and declared: ”I choose the black door on the ceiling.”

As Lin Yu spoke, Crow-Man looked at the others.

”Caw caw, are your choices the same as his?”

Seeing that Lin Yu’s choice of the ”black door” had succeeded...

The others couldn’t possibly choose differently now.

”I also choose the black door.”

Iron Uncle quickly said.

April and Number Eight then spoke in unison: ”We choose the black door!”

Unforgotten looked at Lin Yu with admiration, giving him a thumbs up.

”You’re truly amazing, Brother Nine Waters... thanks to you, we’ve solved all three questions in this room!”

Then she turned to Crow-Man and grinned.

”Then I also choose the black door.”

Hearing their choices, Crow-Man nodded.

”Good, the ’choice’ has been made—”

As Crow-Man spoke, it fully spread its wings.

The black wings were more expansive than anyone had imagined.

It wrapped everyone in its wings, then flew toward the black trapdoor.

Just as it was about to hit the trapdoor...

The black trapdoor suddenly enlarged, with the entire ceiling splitting open!

Then...

They arrived in the second room!
