First-Year Internship—And You Went to Site 749 to Contain Monsters?!

Inside the villa, listening to the conversation between the two men, Ji Feiyu felt a bit impatient.

Though they were all skilled individuals with remarkable abilities, using her sister’s illness as a wager to determine the winner was utterly infuriating.

She had already shown Dong Yong enough respect.

Not only did she promise a hefty reward if he could cure her sister, but now, this situation had taken a ridiculous turn.

Even though she was displeased, Ji Feiyu didn’t voice her frustration.

Her sister had been sick for too long, and these two men were her last hope.

She glanced at her father and noticed the anger creeping onto his face. With a sigh, Ji Feiyu spoke up.

“Gentlemen, why don’t we begin now?”

Dong Yong casually pulled a hand out of his pocket, extended it forward, and said calmly, “Please.”

BOOM!!!!A deafening crash echoed as a figure was sent hurtling through the wall, smashing it into pieces.

For a brief moment, those present seemed to glimpse a monstrous bear-like beast with savage wings lunging toward them.

In the blink of an eye, Lu Ding’s massive hand clamped around Dong Yong’s throat. With a swift motion, he lifted him and slammed him into the ground, shattering the expensive flooring beneath them. Then, without hesitation, he hoisted him into the air once more.

“Please, my ss! Do you even know what embarrassment means? I was outside cringing so hard my toes curled! You really think you’re some big shot, don’t you?!”

Blood gushed from Dong Yong’s mouth and nose.

Although Lu Ding had held back significantly, the single blow was enough to completely incapacitate Dong Yong.

“Cough… cough… who… who are you?”

“Who am I? I’m the one sending you straight to hell.”

Lu Ding’s voice turned icy.

“Dong Yong, your little secret is out. Call out the Black Old Lady inside you.”

Inside Dong Yong’s mind, the Black Old Lady shrieked in terror.

“NO!!! NOOOO!!! I WON’T COME OUT!!! I WON’T COME OUT!!! FLYING BEAR!! HE’S THE FLYING BEAR!!!”

The Black Old Lady, a bear spirit who had cultivated for many years, had long abandoned her physical form to seek alternative paths to power.

But even if she still had her original body—

She wouldn’t stand a chance.

Lu Ding was a practitioner of the Flying Bear Slaughtering Art. Against him, she was doomed to be obliterated instantly.

After all, the Flying Bear was the ancestor of her ancestor’s ancestor—

A being that thrived on slaughter and carnage.

How could she dare to face him?

For the first time, Dong Yong saw the arrogant Black Old Lady completely lose control, her terror spreading through his mind like wildfire.

All his confidence had come from the Black Old Lady.

Ever since she had possessed him, Dong Yong believed he was the protagonist of this world—just like the main characters in novels.

The Black Old Lady had constantly boasted about her great power, making Dong Yong think of her as his personal “wise old master” companion.

With this sudden surge of arrogance, he had recalled an old grudge between his family and the Zhou family.

Encouraged by the Black Old Lady’s constant goading, Dong Yong had lost control and slaughtered all six members of the Zhou family.

He thought he had covered his tracks perfectly.

Yet today—someone had come knocking.

“I… I surrender… please… please don’t kill me…”

Lu Ding chuckled.

Standing beside him, Yan Feifan sneered, “You dumbss, what were you doing before? Strutting around in the open, flaunting your power, even coming here to ‘exorcise’ demons—now you wanna surrender?”

He turned to Lu Ding. “Brother Lu, what’s your take on this?”

Lu Ding’s voice was cold. “Too late.”

“I gave you a chance to keep your dignity, but you didn’t take it. So now, we do this my way.”

Under everyone’s horrified gaze—

Dong Yong’s body was torn in two.

Blood splattered everywhere.

A plume of black smoke burst from the corpse, transforming into a massive black bear spirit as it tried to flee.

“FLYING BEAR!!! FLYING BEAR!!! I WAS WRONG!! PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!! PLEASE!!!”

Lu Ding slowly raised his hand. A faint breeze swept through the room.

“Shatter.”

His voice wasn’t loud, but every person present heard it with terrifying clarity.

The escaping black bear was instantly sliced into countless tiny fragments, vanishing into thin air—

Not even a scream remained.

A notification echoed in Lu Ding’s mind.

[Contained Entity: Black Old Lady]

[Containment Reward: Strength of a Thousand Pounds]

[Strength of a Thousand Pounds: Tremendous strength, capable of moving mountains with a single palm.]

Lu Ding examined his reward, calculating its worth.

One “jīn” equaled 30 pounds, meaning a thousand jīn was about 30,000 pounds.

While such strength in a human was terrifying—

In practical terms, a rural tractor could probably pull two Ruyi Jingu Bangs.

Eh, it’ll do.

Strength accumulates over time, after all.

Luckily, no one could hear Lu Ding’s thoughts. If the Cultivators of Qi who specialized in body refinement overheard, they’d probably be furious.

Did he seriously just compare a human to a tractor?!

Do you know how many years of training, how many rare elixirs, and how much innate talent it takes to achieve 30,000 pounds of strength?!

Yan Feifan stepped forward, handing Lu Ding a handkerchief.

Lu Ding took it and wiped his hands.

Then, Yan Feifan pulled out a Confidentiality Agreement and approached the three petrified individuals. Squinting slightly, he spoke.

“This is how the 749 Bureau operates. Sign this confidentiality contract—disclosing anything about today’s events will result in immediate legal consequences. You’ll be detained with no chance of bail.”

He turned to Ji Hong and added, “Chairman Ji, don’t worry. Your losses will be compensated. Someone will contact you soon, and I guarantee you’ll be satisfied.”

“AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!”

Ji Feiyu’s assistant, Bai Xiaoxiao, snapped out of her trance and let out a piercing scream.

The next second—

“Scream again, and I’ll rip you apart too.”

Bai Xiaoxiao instantly fell silent, her face pale, hands trembling as she covered her mouth.

She was a Cultivator of Qi herself and had encountered the 749 Bureau before.

But she had never seen an investigator act so ruthless and brutal.

Trembling, she stammered, “You… you 749 guys… don’t you capture and detain anomalies?”

Capture and detain?

If he detained them—where would his rewards come from?

All for a few extra Contribution Points and a couple of thousand bucks?

That would be shortsighted.

One of Lu Ding’s main reasons for joining the 749 Bureau was to use its intel to hunt and contain monsters—how could he possibly leave them alive?

“You’re probably talking about the others.” Lu Ding smirked. “I’m different. I don’t like leaving anything alive.”

Gulp.

Bai Xiaoxiao swallowed hard.

Her gaze flickered to Lu Ding, but the moment his eyes met hers, she immediately looked down, afraid to make eye contact.

Ji Hong, the seasoned businessman, finally regained some composure. Though still shaken, he managed to think straight.

“Sir… could you… erase my daughter’s memories of this incident? Like in the movies?”

Beside him, Ji Feiyu stood in a daze, her face pale and eyes lifeless, unable to process what had just happened.

Lu Ding nodded toward Yan Feifan.

The 749 Bureau did have memory-erasing technology, but it came with strict protocols. Every use required video documentation and at least two investigators present.

As Yan Feifan approached with a small, rod-like device—

Ji Feiyu suddenly snapped back to reality, raised her hands, and blocked her face.

“No… ugh… ugh… don’t erase my memory… ugh…!!”
