You Cannot Afford To Offend My Woman

Chapter 1356 (A Lot Like Love)

”Auntie,” Ye Yan suddenly called out.

”Nephew,” Ye Yuanqing also exclaimed.

The atmosphere was a bit strange, and Ye Yan was completely bewildered. His auntʼs personality was a bit unpredictable.

Ye Yuanqing smiled and waved her hand, signalling for the people around to leave.

She didnʼt want them to disturb the conversation between nephew and aunt.

Her older brotherʼs son was really interesting, not as cold as her older brother. This was much better.

However, just as Ye Yan was about to discuss ”serious matters” with his aunt, crisp footsteps suddenly rang out.

Ye Yan instantly stopped. This woman, was she deliberately going against him? She really knew how to time her entrance.

”Greetings, Your Majesty.”

”Oh, itʼs the emissary. What brings you here?”

”Your Majesty, I have come to bid you farewell.”

Ye Yuanqing was taken aback. ”Is the emissary leaving so soon? I hope itʼs not because of any inadequacy in our hospitality.”

”Your Majesty jests. I quite like it here. I really wish I could stay longer.”

Ye Yan suppressed a chuckle and muttered, ”You say one thing, and do another.”

Although her voice was low, it was still heard.

Ye Yuanqing curiously asked, ”Nephew, do you know the emissary?”

”I dare not,” Ye Yan replied softly.

Ye Yuanqing thought to herself, it seems thereʼs some conflict here.

”It seems Iʼve offended the son of Prince Ye. I wonder if Iʼll be killed on my way back,” the woman said softly, her tone suggesting she was ready to confront Ye Yan.

”You, woman, do you have a problem? I see through your intentions. Youʼre trying to gain my attention with your deceitful tricks. Auntie, look, this emissary is seducing your nephew, seducing the son of Prince Ye!” Ye Yan said, his words delivered with confidence, as if he were a hero standing on the moral high ground, condemning this despicable woman.

‘If you want to challenge me, youʼre still too green.’ [green: inexperienced]

Ye Yuanqing intervened to defuse the situation, saying with a smile, ”Alright, alright, you two act like youʼre sworn enemies.”

”Weʼre not sworn enemies!” they both said in unison.

Ye Yuanqing chuckled lightly. ”Right, what did my nephew come to see me about today? I just had a conversation with your father.”

Ye Yan glanced at the woman beside him. With an outsider present, how could he bring himself to say it out loud?

”I didnʼt expect the son of Prince Ye to have something he couldnʼt say out loud.”

”Who said I couldnʼt say it? Iʼm the benchmark of the streets!”

”Then say it, say it!”

”If you want me to say it, and Iʼll say it? Who do you think you are?”

”Youʼre just too afraid to say it.”

”Whoʼs afraid?”

”Then say it.”

”I wonʼt say it, Iʼm so mad at you!”

Ye Yuanqing watched as the two began to argue, realising they were quite suited for each other. She wondered what her older brother was thinking.

Chu Yu wasnʼt very old, just a few hundred years older than Ye Yan. She came from a good family, was educated and polite, gentle and intelligent. She would definitely be able to help Ye Yan in the future.

Not to mention her appearance, Chu Yu was a classic beauty. As a wife, she was quite good.

”Alright, alright, you two stop it. If I didnʼt know any better, Iʼd think you were a married couple quarrelling in front of me,” Ye Yuanqing said with a playful smile.

Ye Yan couldnʼt believe his auntʼs words. ”Auntie, stop joking. Is she even a woman?”

Chu Yu, despite being a gentle woman, was almost driven to explode by Ye Yanʼs words.

”Youʼre saying Iʼm not a woman? I could say youʼre not a man!”

”Iʼm not a man! Want to test my virility and see how impressive I am?”

”Disgusting! Shameless! The son of Prince Ye is truly outrageous!” Chu Yu was so angry her face turned red. Prince Yeʼs reputation was being ruined by you.

But when Ye Yan heard Chu Yu refer to him as ”the son of Prince Ye,” it gave him a headache. ‘Wasnʼt calling me by my name enough? Why add ”the son”? Is there something wrong with her?’

‘Forget it, as Young Master Ye, I wonʼt stoop to the level of arguing with women.’

Ye Yuanqing, sitting on the throne, watched the two quarrel, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. ‘Looks like Iʼll have to play matchmaker.’

‘Big brother can also be a little more at ease. Chu Yu is quite outstanding; thereʼs nothing wrong with her joining our Ye family.’

But now, her nephew was quite upset. This wasnʼt a good start.

”Alright, quiet down,” Ye Yuanqing said with a slight smile.

The two stopped their bickering, acting as if they didnʼt want to acknowledge each other.

”Nephew, just say what you have to say. Chu Yu isnʼt an outsider,” Ye Yuanqing said.

”Auntie, what I have to say is very important, so it shouldnʼt be heard by outsiders,” Ye Yan replied. Of course, he wouldnʼt say it in front of someone else; there was still some etiquette to consider.

”Your Majesty, then Iʼll take my leave,” Chu Yu said respectfully, giving a slight bow before stepping back.

”Bye,” Ye Yan waved his hand, much to Chu Yuʼs annoyance.

Once Chu Yu left, Ye Yuanqing shook her head and said, ”Nephew, Chu Yu is a good person. Youʼre a boy; you should be considerate of others.”

”Auntie, you didnʼt see her; sheʼs too arrogant. She keeps calling me the son of Prince Ye, making me seem like some spoiled rich kid,” Ye Yan expressed his dissatisfaction.

”Itʼs just a matter of customs for others,” Ye Yuanqing explained.

”Are there customs like that?” Ye Yan pursed his lips. Well, forget it; he wouldnʼt dwell on this anymore. The person had already been driven away by him.

Ye Yuanqing stood up and walked to Ye Yan. ”Iʼve heard about you from your father for a long time. Seeing you today, youʼre quite impressive.”

”Of course.” Upon hearing the praise, Ye Yan instantly felt a bit proud.

”Alright, little guy, what do you want to talk to Auntie about? Itʼs just the two of us now,” Ye Yuanqing said.

Ye Yan sighed deeply.

”Hmm?”

”Auntie, do you know that my parentsʼ relationship is very tense?”

Ye Yuanqing certainly knew; she would visit every year and had noticed the issues between her elder brother and sister-in-law.

”What happened?”

”It exploded, they had a big fight, just this morning. It was so intense, it almost came to blows.”

”Ah! That serious?” Ye Yuanqing exclaimed, surprised at the severity of the situation.

Ye Yan shook his head. ”My younger brother found a girlfriend, and they did that last night. Itʼs like the child is about to be born soon. My aunt, Baizhi, was so happy. My mom only has me as a son, and I donʼt have a girlfriend right now, so...”

”So youʼre asking Aunt to have your child?” Ye Yuanqing raised an eyebrow.

Ye Yan: ”...”

‘Oh god... whatʼs Auntie thinking…’

”Auntie is just joking with you. Are you asking Aunt to introduce you to someone?” Ye Yuanqing teased a little, finding Ye Yanʼs shocked expression amusing.

”Not to introduce me to someone, but to arrange an actress to pretend to be my girlfriend, just to make my mom happy. Once theyʼre happy, theyʼll definitely have something to say to my dad.”

”Thatʼs not a bad idea. Itʼs a good thing for parents when their children start families,” Ye Yuanqing commented.
