Medic Martial Dragon King

Chapter 644: Chapter 644: Learning of the Conspiracy_1

The Mo Shi trio were on the third floor of the hotel, which was divided into two parts: a hall and a number of private rooms, separated by a corridor.

At that moment, there was only one table of customers in the hall, positioned directly in line with the private room occupied by the Mo Shi trio.

Those at the table, all four of them, wore camouflage uniforms—clearly figures from the mercenary world.

”We can’t underestimate Long Yan. There’s something unusual about this affair. Dragon Soul has been attacking our bases, and not just one, but several at the same time. This is highly abnormal—who attacks multiple bases by dividing their forces?”

A blond, blue-eyed man from the Northern Confederation spoke gravely, ”It seems like they are probing something.”

”Probing?” the small-statured man with a mustache sitting on the left side of the man from the Northern Confederation frowned and said, ”Mr. Cha’ersi, do you think... the people from Dragon Soul could know about our research...?”

”Sanben, shut up!” Cha’ersi’s voice dropped as he looked around sharply and said sternly, ”Don’t drag me down if you want to die!”

Sanben’s neck shrank as he quickly closed his mouth.

”No matter what Dragon Soul is planning, we’re going to launch a surprise attack on Long Yan’s temporary base tonight. It would be best if we could catch Dragon Soul’s men there and take them all out in one fell swoop!” Cha’ersi said with a cold smirk.

”A surprise attack on Long Yan’s temporary base? We... should we hurry back and prepare?” Sanben asked, astonished.

Cha’ersi looked at Sanben with scorn, ”You? Are you qualified? The big shots are handling this attack themselves. All fifteen of our base’s big shots are mobilizing, determined to completely eradicate Long Yan. You’d go to be cannon fodder? Even if you wanted to be cannon fodder, you wouldn’t qualify!”

”All fifteen big shots are coming?” Sanben’s eyes widened in surprise.

Cha’ersi nodded emphatically, ”Yes, they’re all out. Who told those people from Long Yan to station themselves within a hundred miles of our base, and then get targeted by Dragon Soul? If they’re courting death, who can they blame?”

Hearing the conversation outside, the faces of the Mo Bao trio changed.

”Big brother, second brother!” After closing the window, Mo Bao looked at the two Mo Shi with a grave and resolute expression, ”I’m going to find the Dragon King. What about you?”

”Together! This is our last chance!” Mo Shi stood up and said.

Mo Hu also stood up, laughing, ”For the sake of us brothers being able to play chess and walk birds together in the future, I’ll sell my life to Long Yan!”

There’s a saying in the world of mercenaries: once a mercenary, forever in hell!

The saying implies that once you enter the realm of mercenaries, your life will be forever hanging between life and death. And the forbidden lands of the Flame Dragon Kingdom become a place where people from factional powers yearn to retire.

But very few can stay there unscathed. If they linger for too long, some departments of the Flame Dragon Kingdom will intervene. Leave or die—Flame Dragon Kingdom won’t allow unstable time bombs on its territory.

Now, having a potential channel to retire in the Flame Dragon Kingdom someday, the Mo Shi trio naturally wanted to seize it. And this time, it was their chance to reconcile with Jiang Chen, and their last chance at that!

They heard everything clearly, Dragon Soul has gone after Long Yan. In their view, as long as Long Yan survives tonight’s assault, they would become allies of both Burst Flame and Dragon Soul. In the world of mercenaries, there would be few who would dare to provoke them.

Therefore, if Mo Shi and the others failed to seize this opportunity, they would almost certainly never be able to enter Long Yan again!

From arrogantly wanting to take over Long Yan to desperately trying to join it, the attitudes of Mo Shi and Mo Hu underwent a fundamental change in the span of just half a day.

In the dense forest outside Luer City.

It was only after the Kylin’s explanation that Jiang Chen and the others realized how close they were to a secret base of the Fallen Angels, a mere distance of less than a hundred miles away.

”Based on this, we can no longer attempt to probe; further probing might arouse their suspicion!” Jiang Chen spoke gravely after hearing the Kylin’s account of Dragon Soul’s recent actions.

Dragon Soul had attacked the Fallen Angels’ bases more than a dozen times recently, targeting five locations. Based on the level of security at those locations and the responses they encountered, Kylin and the others confirmed that the base located less than a hundred miles from Long Yan’s temporary location was the one where the Fallen Angels were conducting Gene Potion research in collaboration with the Northern Confederation and Beihai National.

”Yes, we can’t probe any further, we must take down that base in one fell swoop!” Kylin nodded with a serious expression.

Jiang Chen let out a sigh, his expression filled with worry, ”Our biggest problem now is that we don’t know the exact strength of that base. If their number of Paladin Knights is below ten, then there’s absolutely no problem. But if it exceeds twelve, I fear that our operation will inevitably fail!”

”Twelve?!”

Kylin looked at Jiang Chen in surprise. They had only eight Paladin Knights on their side, including the five of them, but Jiang Chen’s words suggested that they could take on twelve Paladin Knights, which was somewhat incomprehensible to them.

Jiang Chen didn’t explain; instead, he just stared at the rough diagram of the base that Kylin had drawn on the ground.

Thud, thud, thud!

At that moment, a Long Yan brother who was on lookout duty approached and said in a low voice, ”Dragon King, Mr. Mo Bao and his two brothers have come back. They say they have very important matters to discuss with you.”

”Them?” Jiang Chen frowned slightly and whispered, ”Let them come over.”

”Yes!” The Long Yan brother responded and turned to go back the way he came.

”Mo Bao? Is it the Mo Bao from the Blazing Flame Mercenary Corps?” Bai Hu spoke softly.

Jiang Chen nodded, ”Yes, that Mo Bao, but he has already left Burst Flame.”

”The three brothers have always been free mercenaries. We thought they would all join Burst Flame after Mo Bao did, but unexpectedly, Mo Shi and the other had remained free mercenaries in Diamond Country and showed no intention of joining Burst Flame. Now that Mo Bao has left Burst Flame, they’ve come to us together. What are they planning to do?” Azure Dragon voiced his confusion.

Jiang Chen smiled faintly, ”Before you arrived, they came once, wanting to join Long Yan. It seems they wanted to be treated like lords here, and I refused them. This time, I don’t know why they’ve come!”

”There was a confrontation with Paladin Knights before we arrived, right? Was it you fighting them?”

Kylin asked in surprise. When they arrived, they sensed the presence of Paladin Knights and heard gunfire, but since the lookouts weren’t panicking, they assumed it was Long Yan’s people training. They hadn’t expected there was an actual fight with Mo Shi and the others.

It wasn’t their fault for misunderstanding; even the outer sentries, both visible and hidden, thought it was a training exercise by Jiang Chen and his men, let alone Kylin and his group.

Then, a series of footsteps approached, and the three brothers, Mo Shi, emerged from the forest:

”Mr. Dragon King, we’ve come this time with heartfelt intentions to join Long Yan, to stand with Long Yan through the battle tonight!”
