Reborn As Noble

Chapter 473: Sanctified by Light ( 473 )

”Papa~,” Mimi called out, dodging a tendril of dark miasma slithering across the castle wall.

”What now, Mimi!?” King Lioness growled, his sword cleaving through a shadow beast as he shielded King Veldracʼs flank. ”Canʼt you see weʼre busy here!?”

”Young Armand wants permission to use his full power to clear out the miasma faster~,” she chirped, tail swaying as if this were just a casual stroll.

King Lioness blinked.

”Thatʼs it? Garius already sent a letter about that in advance,” he grunted, punching a lunging creature with his gauntlet and crushing it into smoke.

”Just go tell him I gave the green light!” he barked.

”Tell him I, King Lioness, grant him full authority to use everything heʼs got!”

”Nya~ okay, Papa~,” Mimi sang, skipping off with deadly grace.

She leapt off a crumbling ledge, twisting mid-air to kick a dark mana beast square in the jaw. It evaporated with a puff of smoke as she landed gracefully, casually slicing through another with her claws.

She moved through the chaos like it was just a walk in the park.

”Javieeer~,” she called out sweetly, hopping over a beastkin guard flung back by an explosion of corrupted energy.

Javier didnʼt even look. He was still up on the higher ground, his mana machine gun roaring with light-infused shots, firing down at the crawling masses below.

”Did you get the permission!?” he shouted, eyes focused, heart pounding.

”Mmm~,” Mimi purred, placing both hands behind her back like an innocent girl.

”I do~ But… Iʼll only give it to you if you promise to make me your wife~.”

”WHAT!?” Javier nearly choked on air, glancing down mid-reload.

”You said yes to Delya! Itʼs not fair if itʼs just her!” she pouted.

”So say it—make me your wife too, and Iʼll tell you what Papa said~.”

”I canʼt believe youʼre negotiating marriage during a monster invasion!!” Javier barked, blasting three shadow beasts in one burst.

”Nya~ Priorities~,” Mimi grinned.

”So? Agree? Yes? Yesss~?”

Javier grit his teeth, looking up at the sky as if asking for divine patience.

”Youʼre stalling again!”

He snapped, emptying a fresh mana cartridge into his machine gun.

Mimi grinned, tail swishing.

”Not stalling~ Just sealing a contract, nya~!”

”What kind of messed-up royalty makes people sign marriage pacts mid-battle!?”

”Nya~ Beastkin tradition~! Verbal pact is binding!” she said with sparkles dancing in her eyes.

”...Fine!! Just—give me the permission already!!”

”Yay~ Papa said Father-in-Law already sent a letter in advance, so youʼre allowed to use everything~ Go wild, my husband~!”

”Ugh! Since when did my father become your father-in-law?!”

Javier raised one hand toward the sky.

The battlefield erupted with chaos—dark mana beasts screeching, civilians crying out in terror. But for one heartbeat, everything seemed to pause.

His voice was cold, clear, and absolute.

”—Activate.”

A pulse shot from his hand. The sky above cracked with blinding, pure light—an unearthly radiance that brought an eerie stillness.

White light.

It started with a flicker—a single, pristine glow upon his palm.

Then, the light exploded—not like an explosion of force, but like dawnʼs first fog chased away by the sun. It poured outward in a sweeping wave, covering buildings, the ground, the sky—everywhere it touched burned white for an instant, then cleared. Clean. Untainted.

The monsters shrieked.

Dark mana creatures halted mid-leap, convulsed, and disintegrated—vanishing into nothing but faint ashes.

Wounded civilians gasped as darkness and corruption faded from their wounds.

Beastkin guards flinched, instinctively shielding their eyes—then stood still as they realized it wasnʼt pain washing over them.

It was warmth. Like stepping into sunlight after years of cold.

Javier stood at the center of it all, arm still raised.

The white light faded into a lingering mist—pure, untouchable, almost sacred.

”Iʼm not waiting for permission anymore,” he muttered, lowering his hand.

”This place needs to be cleaned.”

Inside the castle halls—

The faint glow from outside seeped through the stained-glass windows, casting intricate white patterns along the walls.

King Veldrac chuckled softly, arms crossed.

”Heh… that light. Just like her.”

King Lioness stood beside him, axe resting against his shoulder.

”No wonder Garius sent the boy instead of going himself.”

A silent understanding passed between them—no words needed about the history they shared. Only those who had once faced themselves would recognize that kind of magic.

Veldracʼs eyes narrowed as he stared at the window.

”Looks like what Garius said was true.”

The air tensed for a moment—like a weight settling, a memory, a burden.

Lioness let out a slow breath.

”The dark miasmaʼs beginning to stir again… spreading its roots. If left alone, itʼll rot everything from the inside.”

Veldrac nodded, voice low.

”I wonder how the elven kingdomʼs holding up.”

Lioness smirked.

”Letʼs just hope things havenʼt gone south yet.”

Then his expression softened as he turned his gaze back to the battlefield below.

”This kid…”

”…heʼs not just here to fight.”

Veldrac finished for him.

”Heʼs here to cleanse it.”

”White Light!”

Javierʼs voice echoed once more through the ruined cityscape.

A second wave of radiant brilliance burst from above, engulfing the streets below in searing white. Shadows hissed and twisted, then vanished like dust caught in the wind. The corrupted beasts let out distorted cries before crumbling into motes of darkness, fading into nothing.

No time to rest.

Javier leapt from the rooftop, cape billowing behind him as he landed with a heavy thud.

From his magic storage, he retrieved a white ore device—its smooth, polished surface etched with silver lines glowing faintly with purified mana.

”Letʼs make sure they donʼt crawl back,” he muttered.

With swift, practiced motions, he embedded the device into the ground. A pulse of light spread outward like a ripple in a pond, forming a wide dome of protective energy that hummed softly to life around the area.

He sprinted onward—another street, another intersection—repeating the process.

Each device planted formed a new barrier, sealing away any remaining trace of dark miasma and preventing further corruption from taking root.

One after another. Clean, efficient. Relentless.

The battlefield shifted with every pulse of light.

Where once there was despair, now there was clarity.
