Chapter 1672: Chapter 1672: The Quota Battle Begins

Xiao Yi immediately recognized the figure approaching from afar.

It was none other than the Heavenly Spear Ran Qi, long absent for several years.

Boom...

An extraordinary roar, deafening to the ears.

A spear is a fine instrument, its sound should be clear and rapid, yet now it was deep within its swiftness.

The spear strikes, the cold gleam arriving first, approaching point by point.

Xiao Yi had experienced this technique years ago, outside Fangcun City, where a long spear sealed off all directions, the cold gleam fierce like a storm.

Bang...

Xiao Yi’s hand gathered a flame, enveloping his hand.

The long spear reached just in time.

Xiao Yi moved swiftly, his flame-clad hand suddenly grasped the spear shaft.

Crack... crack...

At that moment, the flame suddenly froze.

”Hmm?” Xiao Yi slightly frowned, ”Just the cold gleam of the spear can freeze my flame.”

”Ran Qi, you’ve grown much stronger.”

”Hmph, less nonsense,” Ran Qi coldly snorted, ”This spear, you cannot withstand.”

Boom... boom... boom...

The spear arrived, the cold gleam gathered in full, thunder surged on the spear shaft.

A single spear strike, like ten thousand galloping horses, unmatched in ferocity.

”Impressive.” Xiao Yi’s eyes lit up, ”The cold gleam arrives first, the power of the spear style hidden within, the spear arrives, erupting instantly, like ten thousand galloping horses, thunder surging in all directions, a spear devours the enemy.”

Boom...

The flame on the spear shaft was already frozen; now, as lightning galloped, it shattered all of Xiao Yi’s flame with a destructive force.

At this time, the spear style did not stop.

Ran Qi moved his arm, the long spear held by Xiao Yi instantly stabbed forth, the force like breaking bamboo, erupting once more.

On the spear tip, a giant Thunder Dragon instantly formed, directly devouring towards Xiao Yi.

Xiao Yi retreated rapidly, flames gathered in moments.

The long spear pursued relentlessly, breaking through all flames.

”Ha.” Xiao Yi let out a low shout, the Purple Crystal Spirit Flame appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

A Purple Flame Wandering Dragon surged forth from his hand.

The Purple Flame Wandering Dragon collided with the fierce Thunder Dragon on the spear tip instantly.

The spear style, instantly blocked.

Xiao Yi stared at Ran Qi, a flash of surprise and anticipation in his eyes.

”Ran Qi, after years apart, you’ve improved even faster and stronger than I imagined.”

”Hmph.” Ran Qi gripped the long spear arrogantly, ”Since my defeat outside Fangcun City years ago, I have taken you as my opponent, training diligently.”

”Years of hard training and trials have brought about the Mad Dragon Cloud Piercing Spear today, even surpassing those days.”

”Today, we shall fight to our heart’s content.”

”Heh.” Xiao Yi smiled indifferently, ”Disperse.”

The Purple Flame Wandering Dragon instantly dispersed the Thunder Dragon of the long spear.

Both of their aura dissipated simultaneously.

In the clash of aura, Xiao Yi remained unmoved, while Ran Qi was shocked back several steps.

”What do you mean?” Ran Qi’s face showed anger instantly upon seeing this.

”Dispel the aura, disperse the flame, are you trying to shirk the battle or do you think I, Ran Qi, am no longer a worthy opponent for you, Purple Flame Yi Xiao?”

Ran Qi’s eyes turned cold, erupting to the extreme.

”No.” Xiao Yi shook his head and said, ”You are indeed strong, back outside Fangcun City, we also agreed for a future rematch.”

”However, I wish to have a fair and honorable battle.”

”On the Martial Arts Arena?” Ran Qi asked with a frown.

”Exactly.” Xiao Yi nodded, ”However, it seems no one is willing for Yi to take the stage.”

”Who said so.” Ran Qi shouted angrily, instantly withdrawing his spear, turning around, and scanned all martial artists present.

”Whoever is against Yi Xiao stepping onto the stage, ask my Mad Dragon Cloud Piercing Spear first.”

”Hmph.”

A cold snort, ferocious thunderous aura pressing down heavily.

None of the martial artists present voiced any opposition.

But whispers continued to ring intermittently.

”What a fool, bringing trouble upon himself and dragging us into it.”

”Exactly, who could defeat Yi Xiao, that anomaly?”

”It’s a waste of an entry spot.”

”...”

At this moment, a figure broke out from the crowd, shooting straight toward Xiao Yi.

”Well said, Brother Ran.”

”Brother Yi is one of the young Heavenly Talents like us, why shouldn’t he join the competition?”

”Just because Brother Yi’s battle records are remarkable, does that mean we shrink from battle?”

When the words fell, a figure similarly landed at the chief spectator seat.

”Ye Liu?” Ran Qi glanced at the newcomer, his eyes also filled with fighting spirit.

Indeed, the newcomer was Ye Liu.

”Brother Yi.” Ye Liu cupped his hands.

”I’ve long heard of Purple Flame Yi Xiao’s reputation, given the chance, I would like to spar with you.”

Xiao Yi nodded without speaking.

In fact, he had already sparred with this fellow Ye Liu.

However, he wore a mask, so Ye Liu wouldn’t recognize him.

At this moment, Ao Donglou scanned the crowd and shouted loudly, ”Does anyone have objections to Yi Xiao participating in this competition?”

The whole scene was silent.

Indeed, Yi Xiao was originally a young Heavenly Talent; he naturally has the right to participate in such a grand event.

Moreover, considering Yi Xiao’s reputation today, few would want to provoke him.

Since Xiao Yi released the Flame Aura, hardly anyone dared to oppose.

Following the remarks from Ran Qi and Ye Liu, these two talents of the Eighteen Mansions also spoke up, naturally, there was no longer any opposition.

”Alright.” Ao Donglou announced, ”Since there’re no objections, then the competition will officially commence.”

Swish... swish... swish...

Several Sword Palace Elders leapt onto the Martial Arts Arena, acting as judges.

With the judges taking the stage and the young talents stepping up, the atmosphere returned to its previous buzz.

Dongli Sword Palace, with its vast sect.

Hence, the Sword Palace Square here was similarly enormous.

Surrounding, under Dongli Sword Palace’s arrangement, spectating seats were prepared, along with the Martial Arts Arena raised.

The whole Martial Arts Arena was circular, spanning over a thousand meters.

The surrounding spectator seats accommodated more than hundreds of thousands of martial artists.

One could imagine, this competition encompassed many forces, sects, and families in the Central Region, naturally leading to a large number of martial artists.

The martial artists’ competition was refreshing, the battle commenced.

”Palace Master Ao.” Xiao Yi cupped his hands and said, ”Yi shall no longer stay at the chief seat.”

”Just find any vacant seat to settle down.”

The chief spectator seats were for Dongli Sword Palace’s Palace Master, elders, and deacons, also the judge seats.

Since he was also participating in this competition, naturally he wouldn’t sit there.

Palace Master Ao, evidently understanding Xiao Yi’s intention, nodded and said, ”Alright, I’ll have a disciple find a quieter seat for Young Friend Yi Xiao.”

Ao Donglou was astute and naturally could tell Xiao Yi wasn’t fond of noise and bustle.

”Please.” Ao Donglou made a ’please’ gesture.

Xiao Yi nodded.

A Sword Palace disciple arranged for Xiao Yi to sit in the vicinity beneath the chief seat.

Xiao Yi arrived at the seat and sat down casually.

About to feign sleep, waiting for his turn to enter the stage.

Ran Qi, however, came along, sitting right next to him.

At the same time, Ye Liu also came over, accompanied by Guu Lianxing.

In fact, Xiao Yi wanted more solitude.

However, since those who came were familiar, he chose to say nothing.

He continued to close his eyes, feigning sleep.
