Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 1656: Chapter 1656: Disintegration

The atmosphere suddenly fell silent again.

But this time, it was the Demon Hunting Hall Master who first broke the silence.

”Let me ask you one thing again, do you know why evil cultivators are considered evil?”

”And do you know why evil cultivators have become so rampant?”

Once the words fell, the two elders on either side both became more solemn.

In their view, Yi Xiao should normally reply with something like ’evil cultivators indiscriminately slaughter the innocent, commit atrocities, cause disasters everywhere, hence they are evil cultivators’.

Of course, this is almost the view of all martial artists.

But Xiao Yi spat out two words, ”A profession.”

”A profession?” Evidently, the Demon Hunting Hall Master showed a bit of surprise.

The two elders next to him both shuddered simultaneously.

”Let’s hear it,” the Demon Hunting Hall Master’s expression transformed from initial indifference to some degree of amusement, and now into keen interest.

Xiao Yi pondered for a moment.

”If I’m not mistaken, evil cultivation is essentially a profession.”

”The martial arts they practice allow for faster cultivation speed and greater strength than normal martial artists.”

”Moreover, this extremely rapid cultivation speed does not require much talent.”

In the martial artist cultivation system, there are different professions.

Body Cultivation, Soul Master, Array Master, Alchemist, etc. each have distinct characteristics.

These characteristics are factors that differentiate the professions.

Body Cultivation crushes other professions but is extremely difficult.

Soul Masters have inscrutable methods but require high martial artist talent.

Array Masters rely on formations and external forces to exert power far beyond their own capabilities.

Alchemists do not enhance their own martial artist strength much but are the wealthiest profession.

Martial artists often lack substantial cultivation resources.

But Alchemists absolutely do not lack them.

Every profession has its own characteristics.

And evil cultivators, the profession’s hallmark is an extremely rapid cultivation speed, far exceeding normal martial artists.

”As for why they are rampant,” Xiao Yi paused.

”On the Flame Dragon Continent, strength is revered.”

”The word strength is almost every martial artist’s pursuit.”

”To obtain strength, one may resort to any means, without hesitation, hence the continent is rife with murders and treasure stealing.”

”And evil cultivators are even worse, slaughtering cities at will, using countless human martial artists’ essence blood to cultivate the evil way to enhance their strength.”

Xiao Yi paused again, ”Normal martial artists pursue strength, going so far as to kill and rob without restraint.”

”Let alone evil cultivators? They lack talent and resources but can possess superior strength and resources compared to other martial artists, why wouldn’t they?”

”Even if they enter the evil path and bear the stigma, it is but insignificant.”

”Such is human nature, hence the proliferation of evil cultivators.”

As the words fell, the three elders simultaneously had a flash of realization.

Their expressions were no longer indifferent.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master finally chuckled, ”Then why are those ordinary martial artists who kill and rob not considered evil cultivators? Why aren’t they hunted by the Eight Palaces?”

”How are their actions different from evil cultivators?”

”A far cry,” Xiao Yi shook his head.

”Survival of the fittest, the strong preying on the weak, such is the Heavenly Dao.”

”But evil cultivators act according to the evil dao; left unchecked, they will become a raging fire, endangering the entire continent, no less than the ancient demon beasts’ chaos.”

”That will be a disaster for the whole continent.”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master nodded; this was his first nod.

”There’s one more thing.”

”Normal martial artists ultimately recognize that they are human martial artists.”

”But evil cultivators probably are no different than beasts.”

”And as for the proliferation of evil cultivators,” the Demon Hunting Hall Master shook his head, slowly stood up.

With a sigh, he walked a few steps.

”The biggest reason for the proliferation of evil cultivators lies not with others but with us Eight Palaces.”

”Hmm?” Xiao Yi furrowed his brow.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master sighed again, ”For thousands of years, time has changed, although the Eight Palaces still bear the name of the Eight Palaces.”

”But in truth, they’ve already fragmented, each forming their own alliances.”

”If the Eight Palaces were as united as they were back then, how could a mere Evil Lord Mansion cause havoc throughout the Central Region.”

”How would mere evil cultivators have such boldness.”

Xiao Yi said nothing.

But he knew very well that this was definitely one of the very important reasons.

The Ancient Eight Halls had long been fragmented, each having its own alliances.

Though each hall is strong and above the others on the continent.

Compared to ancient times when the Eight Halls were like brothers, an integrated force, today they appear far more inferior.

Yet even so, the current Eight Palaces remain as eight cornerstone pillars of the continent, unshakable by anyone.

It’s not hard to imagine, back in the ancient times, when the Eight Palaces acted as one, that kind of opposition to the entire continent’s demon beasts, that kind of defense of countless human lives, how formidable and dominant they must have been, invincible everywhere.

”Why did they fragment?” Xiao Yi couldn’t help but ask.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master smiled, ”As you said, such is human nature.”

”But that was grievances from many years ago, it’s better not to mention it.”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master waved his hand, sitting back at the desk.

Xiao Yi was about to pursue further questions.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master waved his hand again, ”Enough.”

”Today, I called you here just to meet this heavenly talent who holds identities from the Three Halls.”

”Certainly, also a heavenly talent who is unmatched,” the Demon Hunting Hall Master teased.

”Uh,” Xiao Yi felt slightly embarrassed.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master smiled, ”You’ve been promoted to the Vice Hall Master position within the Main Hall, but there are still some formal procedures within the Main Hall.”

”Later, there will be people from the hall handling it for you.”

”Moreover, stay in the hall a few more days, there’s a task for you in some time.”

”A task? But...” Xiao Yi frowned.

He did not wish to stay longer.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master interrupted, ”Your elimination of the evil calamity in the Six Dragon Territory along with the extermination of evil cultivators over the past months all count as great achievements, the Main Hall also has other rewards.”

”Once you receive the reward, you might as well practice in the seclusion room for a while.”

”Reward?” Xiao Yi raised an eyebrow.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master smiled, ”It’s quite generous, enough to make you envious, go on.”

”Yes, thank you, Hall Master.” Xiao Yi saluted the three elders and then slowly withdrew, ”Farewell.”

...

Xiao Yi departed.

Inside the hall.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master smiled, inexplicable, ”How is it?”

The two elder nodded but did not speak.

The Demon Hunting Hall Master chuckled, changing from previous indifference, his face showing nothing but admiration.

”His talent speaks for itself.”

The Medicine Venerate Hall Master lightly exclaimed, ”I’m more curious about your confidence in him earlier.”

”When he was trapped in the Six Dragons and Six Evils within, you directly dispatched Jiu Yan and Tang Yin, even brought the Promotion Order.”

”Were you so confident he would survive? Just because of this talent?”

”Yes.” The Demon Hunting Hall Master nodded.

”Today’s younger generation is truly the most monstrous in hundreds of thousands of years.”

”Previously, young martial artists found it extremely difficult to defeat older generations.”

”But now, young martial artists defeating long-renowned experts is frequently heard.”

”In the past, even the most talented heavenly talents required reaching middle age to enter the Martial Arts Emperor realm; take the twelve youngsters from the Heavenly Hidden Twelve Peaks, each was renowned as heavenly talents across the Central Region in their youth.”

”Especially that Heavenly Sword boy, with arrogance surpassing others, his Sword Dao talent ranked at the top of his generation.”

”But the result is these twelve youngsters, after all these years, have just barely reached the Peak of Saint Emperor Realm.”

”But this generation, the heavenly talents and monsters who truly made their names in the Central Region have surpassed the Peak of Saint Emperor Realm one after another.”

”This generation of heavenly talents, young but already possessing astonishing cultivation, overshadowing the older generation.”

”The most monstrous generation, without question.”

The Demon Hunting Hall Master paused, continuing, ”Yi Xiao, this kid, managing to stand out among this most monstrous generation, becoming the leader, is by no means ordinary.”

”A mere Poison Robe could never kill him; a mere Six Dragon Territory couldn’t hold him.”
