Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 182: Chapter 181: Facing 10 Enemies Alone

Elder’s Seat above, Xiao Yi was unaware of the conversation.

He returned to the side of Lin Jin and the other three, preparing to watch the battles that would follow.

The Martial Arts Arena had been destroyed during his bout with Guu Changkong just a moment ago.

Luckily, there was an Inner Sect Deacon who had an Earth Attribute Martial Soul. With a mere wave of their hand, the arena was restored to its original state within minutes.

”The second match, Medicine Hall Chief Ye Ming versus Fire Hall Chief Miao Qianhuo.”

On the arena, the referee shouted. Two figures leapt up, and it was none other than Ye Ming and Miao Qianhuo.

”Senior brother, please forgive my offense,” Miao Qianhuo greeted Ye Ming with a cupped fist salute.

”It’s fine, go all out without reservations,” Ye Ming responded with a light chuckle.

Both of them were high disciples of the Medicine Hall Elders.

The outcome of the battle was a foregone conclusion.

Ye Ming was victorious.

Their confrontation was devoid of life-and-death struggle; it was merely a friendly sparring.

It appeared that the two of them still had a good relationship.

”The third match, Inner Sect Disciple Lin Jin versus Beast Hall Chief, Yui Rulong.”

The referee announced loudly.

Below the Martial Arts Arena.

Lin Jin loosened his muscles and said, ”It’s my turn to take the stage.”

”Be careful,” Xiao Yi smiled.

”Don’t worry,” Lin Jin grinned, ”Although I’m not as freakishly strong as you.”

”But I’m still confident in defeating Yui Rulong.”

With that said, Lin Jin’s figure flashed, leaping up onto the Martial Arts Arena.

Yui Rulong was already on the stage.

Xiao Yi had spent very little time in the Sword Sect, mostly wandering outside.

In the Sword Sect, he also rarely visited the Inner Sect, spending most of his time with Elder Yi.

Therefore, there were few Inner Sect Disciples he knew.

This was his first time seeing Yui Rulong.

The man looked to be around twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with a face like jade and handsome features, resembling a fair-skinned scholar.

He looked rather frail as well.

However, when the battle between Lin Jin and him began,

Xiao Yi was slightly astonished.

Because Yui Rulong’s Martial Soul was the Green Patterned Dragon Scorpion Beast.

This was a quite powerful and dangerous demon beast.

Its body was pitch-black, massive in size, with a scorpion-like torso and limbs that resembled dragon claws, adorn with a pattern of vibrant green.

Hence, it possessed both the diametrically opposed attributes of speed and strength, and it displayed them to their fullest potential.

Moreover, its scorpion tail was highly poisonous.

Even strong Martial Artists like the Sword Hall Elders would promptly flee if they encountered it in the wild.

Back to the matter at hand.

Yui Rulong’s cultivation was only at the Mysterious Profundity Eighth Layer.

Lin Jin, after over four months of intensive cultivation, had reached the Sixth Layer of Mysterious Profundity.

The fight had only just begun, and Lin Jin was immediately put at a disadvantage.

Unless something unexpected happened, Lin Jin would be defeated soon.

”Lin Jin is going to lose,” Qin Feiyang said.

”I think he can hold on a little longer,” Tie Niu replied.

However, after more than ten minutes, the situation suddenly reversed.

Lin Jin’s sword strikes became increasingly powerful.

Xiao Yi distinctly felt that with every slash Lin Jin made, the next one would increase in power significantly.

At the same time, Lin Jin’s complexion was becoming paler.

”Lin Jin looks a bit off,” Liu Yanran furrowed her brows and said.

”His Sword Technique is very strange,” Xiao Yi replied with a frown, ”With each swing, his strength surges, but it also puts great pressure on himself.”

”Oh? Such a Sword Technique, could Lin Jin possibly be...” Liu Yanran suddenly changed her expression.

”What’s wrong?” Xiao Yi asked.

”Nothing, perhaps I’m mistaken,” Liu Yanran shook her head.

Xiao Yi clearly caught the strange expression on Liu Yanran’s face.

But since Liu Yanran didn’t elaborate, Xiao Yi didn’t press further.

Half an hour later, the battle on the Martial Arts Arena had become one-sided.

Yui Rulong was completely at a disadvantage.

The concentrated Green Patterned Dragon Scorpion Beast Martial Soul was almost collapsing.

”Break for me,” Lin Jin shouted.

A giant heavy sword was fiercely slashed down.

Yui Rulong’s Martial Soul shattered instantly, and then he spat out blood and was knocked off the Martial Arts Arena.

”Huff, huff, huff...” Lin Jin gasped heavily for air.

”Second match, Lin Jin wins,” the referee announced loudly.

Lin Jin’s figure flashed, returning to the side of everyone.

”How bout that, I’m not too shabby, am I?” Lin Jin said with a laugh.

However, it was evident that within his smile lurked a hint of discomfort.

Clearly, the strange Sword Technique and Martial Technique that had defeated Yui Rulong had put a great deal of stress on himself, or rather, a backlash.

”This guy’s desire to compete,” Xiao Yi thought secretly.

A Sixth Layer of Mysterious Profundity defeating someone from the Eighth Layer, with Lin Jin’s skills, an over-class battle was also within reason.

Gradually, one match after another concluded.

Qin Feiyang, Tie Niu, and Liu Yanran also took their turns in the arena.

Tie Niu faced the chief of the Cold Ice Hall.

The chief of the Cold Ice Hall, with his Mysterious Profundity Eighth Layer cultivation and chilling ice attacks, was exceedingly formidable.

At first, Tie Niu was at a disadvantage.

However, later on, for some unknown reason, the Cold Ice Hall chief blurted out an insult, ”Don’t think you all can pull off a cold surprise like that Outer Sect disciple defeating an Inner Hall chief.”

”Hmph, a Martial Artist with a Fire Control Beast Martial Soul winning, must have been extreme luck.”

”Using a High Grade Spiritual Artifact in such a despicable manner to win is nothing to be proud of.”

Tie Niu blew his top on the spot.

”My brother Xiao Yi won because of his strength!” Tie Niu bellowed with rage, ”If you dare to spout nonsense again, I’ll tear your mouth apart.”

And that’s exactly what Tie Niu did.

The Earth-shattering Divine Bull Martial Soul Illusion unexpectedly managed to solidify one of its hooves into reality.

The mountain-like hoof of the Earth-shattering Divine Bull directly sent the Cold Ice Hall chief crashing off the arena.

Someday, if Tie Niu could solidify his entire Martial Soul Illusion, his power would be no less than that of a true Earth-shattering Divine Bull.

Liu Yanran faced one of the Sword Sect’s direct disciples, Guu Changkong’s junior brother, Xu Wuchang.

The fight was over not long after it started.

Xu Wuchang was almost carried down from the Martial Arts Arena.

And Qin Feiyang was up against an Inner Sect Disciple from the Ten Thousand Wood Hall.

The Ten Thousand Wood Hall was comprised almost entirely of female disciples.

As one would expect, the battle hadn’t even started before Qin Feiyang was staring down his opponent, drooling.

In the end, he was directly blasted off the stage.

...

The sun was setting, and nightfall was approaching.

Today’s martial arts competition finally came to an end.

The rankings were also sorted out.

Xiao Yi took first place.

Lin Jin, Tie Niu, and Liu Yanran consecutively made it into the top ten.

Several Inner Hall chiefs, on the other hand, fell out of the top ten.

Qin Feiyang directly landed at the 15th place.

The first thirty places had been assigned.

But the initial assessment had not yet concluded.

Tomorrow, the final battle would take place.

All the disciples and Deacons left one after another.

Xiao Yi also prepared to gather with Lin Jin and the others.

Just then, the voice of the Great Elder rang in his ears, asking him to come to the Elder’s Seat.

Although Xiao Yi was perplexed, he still made his way there without hesitation.

Upon the Elder’s Seat, the Ten Elders and Elder Yi were all scrutinizing him.

”I’m not sure what matter has brought the elders to summon this junior,” Xiao Yi said respectfully with clasped hands.

Before the Great Elder could speak, an Elder from the Sword Hall berated, ”Boy, where did you get that High Grade Spiritual Artifact from? Explain yourself immediately!”

”Be mindful, or I’ll accuse you of deceiving the sect.”

Xiao Yi frowned and replied, ”Do I need to report my personal possessions to you?”

”It’s more than just reporting.” The Fourth Elder spoke coldly, ”You’ll also hand it over.”

”I suspect your violent behavior today, severely injuring my disciple Changkong, was all because of that High Grade Spiritual Artifact.”

”It is an Evil Artifact that has influenced your mind.”

”To prevent you from going on a killing spree due to demonic possession in the future...”

”Bullshit.” Elder Yi coldly interrupted the Sword Hall Elder.

Then, he approached Xiao Yi.

”Young man, hand over that High Grade Spiritual Artifact to me,” Elder Yi said indifferently.

”Yes,” Xiao Yi nodded, taking out the Blood Slaughter Sword.

Elder Yi took it, then stored it in his Qiankun Bag.

Seeing this, the Fourth Elder nodded in satisfaction.

But in the next second, Elder Yi said, ”Young man, tomorrow is the final battle, if you can win, this sword will be returned to you.”

”What?” The Fourth Elder’s face turned furious, ”Returned tomorrow?”

”Shiyi, this is you using your position for personal gain.”

Elder Yi ignored him completely.

He looked straight at Xiao Yi and asked, ”Young man, tomorrow’s battle will be tough. Are you confident?”

”Tough? May I know what tomorrow’s competition is? Hasn’t the last round ended?” Xiao Yi asked with confusion but still nodded, ”Rest assured, Elder Yi, tomorrow I will once again silence some people with my strength.”

That phrase ”some people” caused the Sword Hall Elder’s face to darken once more.

”Good, very good,” said Elder Yi with a light smile.

”For tomorrow’s battle, you’ll need to face ten on one; ten Chief Disciples from the Inner Hall will be your opponents.”

”I only want to know if you feel confident,” Elder Yi said gravely, ”If not, take this instead.”

With that, a sword suddenly appeared in Elder Yi’s hand, also a High Grade Spiritual Artifact.

”Heh, the origins of this sword may be unclear, but no one dares to confiscate it,” Elder Yi said with a chuckle.

”You... you...” The Sword Hall Elder was almost on the verge of exploding in anger.

”Great Elder, what do you make of his behavior?” the Sword Hall Elder turned to the Great Elder and said, ”These two master and disciple obviously had this planned.”
