Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 155: Chapter 154: A Bout?

”Settling accounts?” Murong Ke sneered, ”Purple Flame, when you attacked my Shengbao Trading House...”

”Murong Ke, better settle our own accounts first.” Before Murong Ke could finish, he was already interrupted by Ye Ming’s cold voice.

”Ye Ming, I have no grudge with you,” Murong Ke said gravely.

”No grudge? Then why did you just prevent me from saving my junior brothers?” Ye Ming demanded coldly.

”It concerns the bigger picture; how could I easily let you take action? Haven’t I also not saved my own Shengbao Trading House warriors?” Murong Ke retorted.

”Bullshit.” Ye Ming blurted, ”Your Shengbao Trading House Guard Team, numbering over a hundred, has several Mysterious Profundity Ninth Layer Martial Artists, and their self-preservation ability is exceptional.”

”And my Sky-splitting Sword Sect disciples, merely twenty in number, and the strongest among us are just Lin Jin and four others, all of whom are at the Mysterious Profundity Fourth Layer.”

”The Beast Tide earlier consisted mainly of Third-level Demon Beasts, and although there were many Fourth-level Demon Beasts, their strength was generally below the Mysterious Profundity Third Layer.”

”There were only about 10 demon beasts with nine-layered power.”

”My Sky-splitting Sword Sect disciples bore the brunt of five of those.”

Ye Ming looked coldly at Murong Ke.

”You clearly wanted us to hold those demon beasts back so that your people would face less pressure and suffer fewer casualties.”

Only moments ago, under the city walls, there were tens of thousands of human Demon Hunters and Martial Artists.

There were soldiers from the Eighteen Cities, various Demon Hunting Teams, warriors from local families, and the Shengbao Trading House Guard Team, among others.

Each one was a local force with naturally more warriors, often over a hundred joined together.

And the Sky-splitting Sword Sect was just Ye Ming bringing a group of new disciples for training, only twenty people.

Yet these twenty, against the toughest of five demon beasts, were also facing the assault of several dozen more.

Though they were talents, they had yet to fully grow.

People like Hua Jian and Hee Cang were already gravely injured.

Had it not been for Lin Jin and Tie Niu, who possessed Spiritual Artifacts and exceptional combat abilities, holding back the besieging demon beasts, they would have perished long ago.

And even Lin Jin and the others couldn’t hold on for too long against the onslaught of the five Mysterious Profundity Ninth Layer demon beasts, plus several dozen ordinary Mysterious Profundity Realm beasts.

Had Xiao Yi not arrived just in time, they would surely have died in the bellies of the beasts.

”Listen to me well,” Ye Ming’s gaze suddenly became as cold as snow.

”You, some of you are City Lords of the Eighteen Cities, obligated by your duties to defend the city; others are local powers, must protect Green Light City, so as not to affect the interests of your families.”

”Each one of you has responsibilities.”

”While my Sky-splitting Sword Sect disciples are here just for training. However, as Martial Artists, we didn’t shrink back and leave; we stayed here to help you fend off the demon beasts.”

”But if there’s a next time, if you disregard the lives of my Sky-splitting Sword Sect disciples, don’t blame me, Ye Ming, for turning hostile.”

Ye Ming’s tone was forceful and his words deliberate.

Xiao Yi watched from the side and nodded silently.

He had heard Elder Yi say before that Ye Ming was a man of gentle nature, approachable, with a strong ability to handle affairs, a valued pupil and top disciple of the Medicine Hall Elders.

Today, hearing Ye’s words, it was clear this was true, his capability extraordinary.

Moreover, his words were filled with concern and care for his junior brothers.

He indeed had the demeanor of an elder brother.

”Turning hostile? Such arrogance,” Murong Ke’s tactics were ruthless, clearly intending to burden the Sky-splitting Sword Sect disciples with more danger.

Ye Ming remained unafraid, ”Murong Ke, put away your threats.”

”The foremost Martial Artist below the Mystic Breakthrough Realm? Hah, that’s just a joke.”

”Killing you is not a difficult task for me; you’d best not push my limits.”

Ye Ming’s tone revealed immense confidence.

”Oh, the Chief of the Inner Sect of the Sky-splitting Sword Sect, so majestic. Killing me? You’re underestimating the warriors of the Eighteen Cities of the Eastern Desolate.”

”I’m right, am I not, City Lords?”

Murong Ke suddenly placed himself on the same side as the City Lords of the Eighteen Cities in his speech.

The City Lords were local powers, naturally supporting Murong Ke and not wishing for their own forces to suffer too much.

”Ye Ming, I’ve heard that you as the Chief of the Inner Hall are exceptionally strong. Such arrogance today, do you want to have a confrontation with us?”

A few City Lords said coldly.

”You...” Ye Ming’s expression changed, he had not expected Murong Ke to be so sinister and force the City Lords of the Eighteen Cities to pressure him.

Now, during this critical moment of the demon beast siege, if their subordinates targeted him in the upcoming battle, his junior brothers would be in trouble.

At that moment, a figure calmly stepped forward.

”Gentlemen, would you also like to take on me, Xiao Yi?” Xiao Yi spoke playfully.

”Purple Flame?” The City Lords who had just spoken furrowed their brows.

”Deacon Yi Xiao, it’s all just a misunderstanding,” a member of the Demon Hunting Hall immediately tried to smooth things over.

”There is no misunderstanding.”

With a bang, Xiao Yi’s hand surged with Purple Flame.

The intense heat instantly caused the incredibly hard Iron Rock on the massive city wall to melt.

For countless years and through numerous attacks by demon beasts, the Iron Rock city walls only bore marks but had never been completely destroyed.

But now, they were melting instantly.

”This...” The several city lords stepped back in fright.

”Purple Flame, it’s just a misunderstanding, why take it so seriously?” Those city lords quickly forced a few smiles, no longer daring to speak coldly.

At the same time, they were wondering why they had never heard of any connection between Purple Flame and the Sky-splitting Sword Sect, and why Purple Flame would suddenly come to Ye Ming’s aid.

”Humph, it had better be a misunderstanding.” Xiao Yi withdrew the Purple Flame.

Then he looked at Ye Ming, cupped his fists, and said, ”Brother Ye, it has been a long time since we last met a year ago in Baiwu City.”

”Brother Yi, you flatter me,” Ye Ming quickly replied, ”The alchemy contest we had at the Bai Family truly amazed me.”

The city lords of the Eighteen Cities suddenly realized that Purple Flame and Ye Ming were on good terms privately, which explained why Purple Flame would help Ye Ming.

Now that the demon beasts had retreated, the martial artists below the city wall also began to return to the city.

However, the cold corpses lying beneath the city wall deeply struck everyone present.

The siege by the demon beasts to protect Green Light City had turned out to be this devastating.

In the recent battle, over ten percent of the tens of thousands of martial artists and Demon Hunters were left forever on the battlefield.

”Brother Ye.” Xiao Yi suddenly spoke, ”Everyone is injured; since we both are Alchemists, let’s first stabilize their conditions.”

”Alright.” Ye Ming nodded.

The city lords, hearing this, suddenly became more agreeable.

Many of their subordinates had been injured in the recent battle, and each one was severely wounded.

If two high-grade Alchemists could heal them, that would be extremely good.

Ye Ming, renowned as the Medicine Hall Chief, was well known to everyone; Purple Flame Yi Xiao’s alchemy was legendary.

They were well aware that if Elder Yi hadn’t spoken up, Ye Ming would have never agreed to heal their wounds.

At this moment, they looked at Yi Xiao with friendly eyes.

Xiao Yi also noticed their gaze but didn’t care.

He was just looking for an excuse to give the Perfect Elixirs to Lin Jin and the others.

Swish, Xiao Yi flicked his wrist, and numerous jade bottles landed in the hands of Lin Jin and his party.

Then he flicked another set of jade bottles towards the other martial artists.

Of course, those given to the other martial artists were just ordinary Elixirs.

Two hours later, the two of them, in collaboration with other third-grade Alchemists from various forces, had roughly stabilized the conditions of all the martial artists.

On the city wall, the most powerful group of martial artists gathered together again.

”I’ve just arrived and am not clear about the current situation; could someone explain?” Xiao Yi said.

”Of course.” A city lord smiled and stepped forward, ”With the addition of your Purple Flame, our Green Light City’s defense against the demon beasts will surely be much more secure.”

”Oh, by the way, I am the City Lord of Green Light City, Liu Cangya.”

Liu Cangya, a Mysterious Profundity Ninth Layer Martial Artist and City Lord of Green Light City, was also the first to discover the Beast Tide, the first to resist, and he also notified the other forces to come for assistance.

Therefore, he was the most knowledgeable about the situation.

”Let’s get to the point,” Xiao Yi said in a deep voice, ”Why did those demon beasts suddenly retreat?”

”Um, I don’t know,” Liu Cangya replied, ”Three days ago, the Beast Tide attacked without warning, and I immediately organized my forces and martial artists to resist.”

”However, regardless of whether the demon beasts were winning or losing; every ten hours, a thunderous beast’s roar would be heard.”

”As soon as the roar was heard, they would immediately withdraw.”

”Oh?” Xiao Yi frowned deeply and looked into the distance.

Deep in the Demon Beast Forest, bulky shadows mustered, a dark mass that seemed to number over a hundred thousand.

Furthermore, even more distant within the forest, an unending stream of demon beasts continued to emerge.

It seemed that in less than half a day, the number of demon beasts would double.
