Chapter 1525: Chapter 347: Su Yunjin’s Major Crisis, Husband, Hurry Back! (Part 3)

These words left Bai Wenjing silent. She then looked at the young midwife and asked, ”How certain are you about using the Bone-opening Powder to aid the lady in childbirth?”

The young midwife replied, ”Twenty percent.”

Once these words were spoken, the crowd fell silent. Twenty percent was too low; wasn’t that gambling with one’s life?

Listening to everyone’s voices, the young midwife said, ”If we delay any longer, as the lady’s strength is severely waning, there might not even be a one percent chance left. A decision must be made now.”

In response, the surrounding doctors said, ”Master Bai, don’t listen to her; she’s crazy. A twenty percent chance—if the lady dies in the birthing room, who among us can bear that responsibility?”

”Yes, yes, let’s be cautious. Wait for Mr. Chen to return and bid a proper farewell to the lady. In childbirth, people die; that’s just how it is.”

”Exactly, with such a mispositioned fetus, even an Immortal couldn’t save her. I remember just a few days ago, the daughter-in-law of the landlord Wang’s house in Qianjiang Prefecture gave birth; her fetus was only slightly misaligned, much better than the lady’s, and yet she met a difficult end. And the lady... sigh...”

The many doctors remained silent, unwilling to risk their lives for Su Yunjin.

Thus, they all decided to adopt a conservative approach, allowing Su Yunjin to hold on until Chen Jiusi returned. At that time, they could offer some farewells, which would also account for Mr. Chen.

Thinking this way, the group all disagreed with taking any risks.

But just then, Bai Wenjing looked at the young midwife and asked, ”Have you used Bone-opening Powder before?”

The midwife replied, ”I have.”

Bai Wenjing asked, ”Has it succeeded?”

The midwife replied, ”I’ve used it twelve times and saved nine people.”

Upon hearing this, the other doctors asked, ”And the three others?”

The midwife replied, ”One woman and two lives lost.”

Once these words were spoken, the group exclaimed in unison, ”Master Bai, we cannot use it; we cannot use it. This could very well result in death. If the lady has an accident, how will we explain it to Mr. Chen when he returns?”

”Yes, Master Bai, don’t listen to her; the risk is too great.”

The midwife said, ”If I hadn’t used it, all twelve would have died.”

Listening to this, the other doctors furrowed their brows. Although the Bone-opening Powder could save lives, it could also cause harm. If someone died, it would be a big issue. If they didn’t use it and Mrs. Su died, it wouldn’t be their responsibility.

Therefore, they were not very supportive of using the Bone-opening Powder because they didn’t want to bear even a little responsibility.

But just then, Master Bai said, ”Fine, use it.”

Hearing this, all the doctors were taken aback and said, ”Master Bai, don’t act rashly.”

Bai Wenjing then said, ”That’s how it will be done. If anything happens, I will take responsibility. What’s your name?”

Bai Wenjing looked at the young midwife, who replied, ”Chu Banxia.”

Bai Wenjing said, ”Banxia is toxic; your temperament matches your name. Good, Chu Banxia, you are now the lady’s midwife. Use the Bone-opening Powder; write the prescription and have someone prepare the medicine immediately.”

Chu Banxia agreed and immediately started writing the prescription.

The medicines were readily available in the Chen Residence’s storeroom and were quickly brought over to brew. To reduce the brewing time, a skilled practitioner was dispatched to heat the medicine using Gang Qi.

Watching Chu Banxia enter the birthing room, all the doctors exchanged glances before someone finally said, ”Indeed, a young calf is not afraid of tigers; if something goes wrong, not even one life will be enough to pay for it!”

Inside the birthing room, Su Yunjin’s face was deathly pale, drenched in sweat, being attended to anxiously by her two close maidservants, Yin Hongmei and Cuiju, who constantly used warm towels to wipe Su Yunjin’s sweat.

At this moment, Chu Banxia entered the room, and Yin Hongmei looked at her and asked, ”Who are you?”

Chu Banxia replied, ”Midwife.”

Yin Hongmei asked, ”Do you have a solution?”

Chu Banxia replied, ”Yes, we can use Bone-opening Powder.”

”Bone-opening Powder...” Yin Hongmei frowned upon hearing the name and then stepped past the curtain to the Outer Hall where Bai Wenjing and others were waiting.

Yin Hongmei inquired with Bai Wenjing, who replied, ”We can only let her try.”

Yin Hongmei’s face turned pale but she nonetheless returned inside the curtain, and Huang Wan’er, who looked worried, asked, ”How is it?”

Yin Hongmei shook her head, and soon the Bone-opening Powder arrived.

Chu Banxia held the Bone-opening Powder and went to Su Yunjin’s side, saying, ”Madam, drink the medicine.”

Su Yunjin slightly nodded; the ordeal of childbirth had left her dazed.

The only thought keeping her going was the hope of waiting for her husband to return, as Master Bai had said her husband was rushing back. Even if it was just, she wanted to see her husband one last time.

Thinking that way, Su Yunjin drank the Bone-opening Powder. At first, nothing seemed to happen, but after a while, she suddenly felt her abdomen wrench in pain, as if the child inside was kicking her repeatedly, and the birth canal felt intense pain.

Unbearably difficult.

”Ah~”

Su Yunjin let out a scream of pain, and Chu Banxia urged, ”Madam, push harder. Quickly, quickly give birth to the child.”

Su Yunjin gritted her teeth, crying out in agony.

”Ah~ husband!”

In extreme pain, she couldn’t help but call out for her husband, while Chu Banxia anxiously sweated profusely.

Why hasn’t it come out yet? Why hasn’t it come out yet? The pubic bone has cracked; it should have come out by now.

After waiting for quite some time, Chu Banxia was also sweating heavily. Suddenly, a cry of pain followed, and Yin Hongmei looked over and said, ”It’s bad, the lady is hemorrhaging!”

Hearing this, Chu Banxia sank to the floor, her face pale, for hemorrhaging in childbirth essentially meant a death sentence for the woman. It was over; she had failed!

Thinking this, Chu Banxia looked at the already unconscious lady, muttering ’it’s over, it’s over.’

The news of the lady’s hemorrhage spread wildly, throwing everyone into panic, while only a group of doctors stood by gleefully.
