Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 1514: Chapter 344: Chen 94’s Glib Persuasion of His Father-in-law (Part 4)

Chen Jie spoke: ”Thank you, Prince.”

Ruyang King looked at Chen Jie and said: ”If there’s a single word of falsehood, you will have no doubt about your death.”

Chen Jie replied: ”Rest assured, Prince, I, Chen Jiusi, never lie.”

Hearing this, Ruyang King looked at Chen Jie with a playful gaze, wondering if he believed him or not.

Ruyang King thought: ”Alright, say what you want to say!”

Jie Wenyan looked at Ruyang King and said: ”Prince, I truly love the Commandery Princess.”

”Shut up, your damned sincerity is worthless! If it wasn’t for your ridiculous sincerity, would Yaya have been half-crazed to elope with you?”

”To give up being an Empress, and now elope with you, how will her reputation withstand it when word spreads? Chen Jiusi, you deserve death!”

When Chen Jie mentioned this, Ruyang King instantly became furious and began to lash out wildly at him.

Jie Wenyan looked at Ruyang King and said: ”Prince, I do deserve death, but I cannot die.”

”Cannot die, why?”

Jie Wenyan looked at Ruyang King and said: ”As you said, the Commandery Princess has already eloped with me, and this happened in plain sight, the entire Lu’an Prefecture should have heard by now, and the news surely cannot be suppressed.”

”Then have you thought about what will happen to the Commandery Princess next? Going to the Imperial Palace will certainly make the Royal Family difficult for her, perhaps forcing her into servitude. The Emperor might take it out on the Commandery Princess for losing face!”

”As men, Prince, you know how much a man detests a woman’s infidelity!”

”This is all your fault, you bastard!”

Hearing Chen Jie’s words, the Ruyang King’s face turned livid with rage, and he fiercely clenched his big hand, making bones creak. Especially with the injuries on his chest, Chen Jie cried out in pain, but bit his teeth hard to keep himself from screaming out loud.

Seeing him like this, Ruyang King looked at Chen Jie and said: ”Chen Jiusi, you tell me, do you deserve to die or not?”

Chen Jie was in such pain that cold sweat broke out, but he gritted his teeth and said: ”Prince, whether I deserve to die or not is not important now. You are a father, would you push your own daughter to her death?”

Upon hearing this, Ruyang King paused his actions, looking fiercely at Chen Jie.

Chen Jie relaxed slightly and said: ”Prince, there is no other way now, sending the Commandery Princess to the capital is like throwing her into the fire.”

”You, as a father, wouldn’t want your daughter to suffer such inhumane treatment.”

”Even if not in the capital, I can support her.”

Ruyang King said.

Hearing this, Chen Jie looked at Ruyang King and said: ”Prince, there are no walls without leaks in this world. You may be the Jiangnan Wall, but you still need the court’s support. If this matter is known to the court, hiding the Commandery Princess would be more than just a gap between you and them, so please think twice.”

Ruyang King looked at Chen Jie after hearing this.

Chen Jie said: ”Prince, as I said, killing me is simple, like crushing an ant, but what benefit would there be for you to kill me apart from venting your anger?”

”The Commandery Princess would be estranged from you for killing me, and with my death, she would have no support, spending her life in sorrow. Moreover, I have some friends in Jianghu, and my two sworn brothers, Peng Yingyu and Ni Wenjun, would certainly seek revenge, leading to a fierce battle.”

”Why bother?”

”But if I don’t die, there are many benefits. The Commandery Princess and I are truly in love, if she stays with me, we can have a harmonious marriage, and if I become your son-in-law, I will certainly look to you as my leader in Jiangnan. Even with my brothers, I can help mediate, maintaining peace in Daqian together, wouldn’t that be better?”

”So, Father-in-law, please reconsider.”

”Shut up, who’s your Father-in-law.”

Ruyang King shouted angrily, dissatisfied with Chen Jiusi calling him father-in-law, but he did not become so angry as to kill Chen Jie.

Chen Jie knew that his persuasion, or rather, his patient guidance and analysis of the pros and cons, had worked.

Ruyang King was a competent politician, he knew the situation as it was, there was no use saying more. Chen Jiusi was right, killing Chen Jie would only vent his anger momentarily, but would ruin Yaya’s life.

To let Chen Jiusi stay?

Ruyang King looked at Chen Jie.

In truth, he did not care much about the benefits Chen Jie mentioned. As the Prince holding Jiangnan, he had his own pride and means, and his relations with the court were not something Chen Jie could fathom.

But Chen Jie said something Ruyang King took to heart, that if he killed Chen Jie, Zhao Ya would surely hate him.

Ruyang King cared very much about Zhao Ya’s feelings.

He didn’t want his daughter to hate him.

Thinking of this, he looked at Zhao Ya, then at Chen Jie and said: ”Enough, as it stands, there’s no more to say. Chen Jiusi, you truly love Yaya, don’t you?”

Chen Jie said: ”Truly and sincerely, without any deceit.”

Ruyang King said: ”Then I will give you a chance, as long as you agree to one condition, Yaya can go with you.”

Chen Jie, hearing these words, looked at Ruyang King and said: ”Please, Prince.”

Ruyang King said: ”I heard you already have two women, divorce them when you return. My daughter cannot share a husband with other women!”

Hmm!

Divorce! Why bring up divorce again!
