Chapter 1003: Chapter 250: Han Miaozhen: Who Burned My Army Provisions!_4

The other end of this valley extends to the path leading to Mianshui County. Chen Jie escaped from the Mist Forest and went down the mountain, taking this path directly to Xiantao Village.

Chen Jie suspected that this mountain range was connected to the Dahei Mountain Range behind Xiantao Village.

Thus, they could secretly transport grain down the mountain using the small carts they found in the Zoroastrian Sect’s granary.

Using these tools, Chen Jie estimated that transporting the grain to Mianshui County would certainly be completed in ten days.

Taking advantage of the Mirage’s illusions, hiding here for ten days to half a month would not be a problem.

After preparing these plans, Chen Jie watched Zhou Chu and the others pour tung oil onto the warehouse.

Indeed, they hadn’t yet set a fire. The flames seen from Huangzhou Prefecture were actually illusions made by the Mirage, intended to make the burning time appear substantial.

This way, others would believe that all the grain had turned to ash.

After all, burning two million shi of grain would take quite a while.

Empty buildings burn quickly, so Chen Jie ordered the burning of places outside the granary first to prevent Elder Quan and others from getting suspicious due to insufficient time.

After moving the grain out, they poured oil directly over it.

With a single spark, the entire granary began to burn.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

The flames rose sky-high, and watching them, Chen Jie’s gaze ascended along with the fire.

What leaped in his eyes was something called ambition.

In Huangzhou Prefecture, whoever has two million shi of grain would be the king of Huangzhou, and soon he would possess this foundation.

Chen Jie thought, then said to Zhou Chu: ”Let’s hide as well.”

Thus, the group hid in the valley, which from a distance showed no flaw, even to the point that Chen Jie reached it without noticing the Fishing Guild Disciples hiding five meters away.

As for distant views, there was no hint of any flaw at all.

Even Zhou Chu couldn’t help but marvel at its astounding concealment.

They hid well, and behind them, others began transporting the grain quietly. These grains were moved to Mianshui, where people were waiting to receive them and hide them at locations specified by Chen Jie.

Shortly after they hid, about an hour later, Elder Quan arrived at the granary with eight hundred cavalry.

Upon seeing the raging fire, Elder Quan shouted loudly: ”Put out the fire!”

The eight hundred people began frantically to extinguish the fire, but the blaze was like a tidal wave, impossible to put out, forcing them to watch as everything before them turned to flame and burned to ash.

Elder Quan stared at the ’two million shi’ of grain reduced to ashes, nearly in tears, his three years of preparation and plotting utterly crushed. Who could have done this!

His gaze was filled with anger, wondering who ruined the Holy Sect’s grand plan.

Thinking back, a young man’s face appeared in his mind – that exceedingly young Chen Jiusi!

Yes, it must have been Chen Jiusi, the uncontrollable element. Though he was pushed into the Mist Forest, he didn’t die, and even miraculously reached the Wolf Smoke Realm. Simply unbelievable.

Recalling this young man, Elder Quan felt intense fury.

The disappearance of Chu Tian was related to him, and now he also suspected Chen Jie was behind this fire. If it truly was Chen Jie, Elder Quan would not spare Chen Jiusi.

Now, however, the urgent matter was not pondering these thoughts but considering how to capture these arsonist offenders.

Thinking this, Elder Quan said: ”Search! Even if we have to overturn this mountain, we must capture these scoundrels who destroyed the Holy Sect’s supplies for execution!”

”Yes!”

The group immediately began searching the mountain. Meanwhile, Chen Jie and Zhou Chu were in the valley, watching several groups pass by.

The valley occupants remained silent, daring not to speak.

While they were hiding, a figure suddenly appeared above the valley. It was Elder Quan, who looked down at the calm valley below, feeling something strange.

It seemed as if many things were hidden beneath this valley.

Was it an illusion? Elder Quan wondered but took two steps down intending to see what was hidden below.

Step, step, step...

Seeing Elder Quan approaching the valley, Chen Jie and Zhou Chu held their breath, hearts pounding, tension reaching its peak.

A wave of fear lingered.

They watched Elder Quan coming closer to their group.

Twenty meters.

Fifteen meters.

Ten meters.

Five meters!

At five meters, Chen Jie’s palms sweat, and Zhou Chu beside him trembled with fear.

”Elder!”

In Chen Jie’s intense anxiety, suddenly a voice called: ”Elder.”

Hearing the voice, Elder Quan stopped and asked: ”What is it?”

”Elder, footprints were found over here, with traces of descent; those guys likely escaped down the mountain from here.”

On hearing this, Elder Quan turned and said: ”Oh, I’m coming.”

He headed straight towards the Enchantment Array set by Chen Jie.

Watching Elder Quan leave, Chen Jie breathed a sigh of relief. At that moment, a patrol of cavalry reached the area, one Quan Divine Soldier pointed at the valley saying: ”No search was conducted here!”

The other Quan Divine Soldier replied: ”No need to search, it’s obvious at a glance, and Elder just searched here, searching again would be distrusting Elder.”

”Ah, I, I didn’t mean that!”
