Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 476: Chapter 162 Nan Batian: No, it’s impossible, this can’t be possible (Please subscribe)_5

Nan Batian furrowed his brow and said, ”Hmph, this Chen Jiusi, playing the fool every day, well, let him wait, his good days are only going to last a few more.”

Tang Ziyue narrowed his eyes and said, ”Gang Leader, I think we should prepare a few more plans in case something changes.”

Nan Batian asked, ”What does Mr. mean?”

Tang Ziyue said, ”I always feel like Chen Jiusi already knows about our plan and he’s just been putting on an act with us all along.”

”This, this is impossible. The job was done cleanly, absolutely nothing was exposed, how would he know about our assassination plan?”

Tang Ziyue said, ”I don’t know but there’s something evil about Chen Jiusi.”

Upon hearing this, Nan Batian said, ”What evil or not evil, I just can’t believe that he would see through a plan so meticulous as this one. If that were the case, he wouldn’t be Chen Jiusi; he’d be the living God himself.”

Tang Ziyue said, ”Hmm, what the Gang Leader said is very true. This time we’ll closely monitor everyone involved. If he still gets wind of it in advance, I really would wonder if the heavens have given him a prophetic dream!”

...

Chen Jie dragged his exhausted body back home, and soon his carriage arrived at the doorstep where Si Xi was already waiting for him.

Chen Jie got out of the carriage, and Si Xi greeted him, ”Hall Master, you’re back.”

Chen Jie asked, ”Oh, how did the investigation go?”

Si Xi replied, ”Nothing came up. It seems the Gang Leader hasn’t met with any special people. In the past few days, only Qin Ying and Tang Ziyue have visited the Gang Leader’s headquarters.”

Chen Jie squinted his eyes and said, ”No outsiders?”

Si Xi answered, ”Absolutely no outsiders. However, our spy in the Headquarters holds a low rank. If Nan Batian met with someone in private, we might not find out, especially since our spy hasn’t been infiltrated for very long.”

Chen Jie nodded upon hearing this and looked at Si Xi, ”Have you eaten?”

”Uh?”

Si Xi was taken aback by Chen Jie’s question, ”No, I haven’t.”

”Let’s eat together.”

Chen Jie touched his own famished stomach, hungry.

The two entered the courtyard, and upon reaching the inner court, Su Yunjin came to meet them. Chen Jie said, ”Wife, is there food ready?”

Su Yunjin responded, ”It’s all prepared.”

She then ordered the dishes to be served: four cold and four hot, quite modest. She also warmed a pot of wine for Chen Jie.

Chen Jie asked Si Xi to sit down. This was Si Xi’s first time dining in the inner court, and he was a bit reserved. Seeing this, Su Yunjin led the servants away, leaving the men to dine and talk on their own.

Chen Jie and Si Xi were eating.

Chen Jie had always wanted to influence Si Xi, who had actually already integrated into the new White Tiger Hall, but his past experiences made him feel a sense of estrangement.

Chen Jie understood Si Xi’s feelings, therefore he frequently offered encouragement.

In this way, Chen Jie and Si Xi finished their meal. Si Xi didn’t eat much but grew closer to Chen Jie, and the distance between them lessened.

Such was the passing of the night.

[Today’s intelligence has been updated (Level 3)]

[1. Today you went to the Headquarters and obtained intelligence that the Fishing Guild Headquarters has a history of one hundred years, with Nan Batian being the fifth Gang Leader spanning five generations.]

[2. Today you met Nan Batian and found out that he is planning a great conspiracy related to Bai Wenjing.]

[3. Today you encountered Tang Ziyue and gathered intelligence that Tang Ziyue and Nan Batian met with Guild Cao traitor Ghost Hand Gu Qingfeng last night, and gave him a list of assassination targets, with Bai Wenjing’s name on it.]

[4. Today you repeatedly thought about the assassination incident and obtained intelligence that the assassination location given by Nan Batian to Ghost Hand Gu Qingfeng is at Chaotic Tomb Ridge outside Yang Family Town in Mianshui County!]

[5. Today you thought repeatedly about the assassination incident and obtained intelligence that Gu Qingfeng plans to kill all the escorts to eliminate potential issues, and intends to leave Mianshui County immediately after completing this task, never to return.]

Chen Jie opened his eyes, saw today’s refreshed intelligence, and felt a sense of achievement: today’s moves weren’t in vain, as he now had a clear grasp of all the information.

Thinking about this, Chen Jie narrowed his eyes. The displayed intelligence was all about this incident.

Of course, the first piece was not, it was a waste of intelligence.

Starting from the second piece of intelligence, it almost exposed Nan Batian’s conspiracy to the world.

This intelligence made it clear that Nan Batian’s plan, in collusion with Tang Ziyue, was to kill his mentor, Bai Wenjing.

Why would they want to kill his mentor?

Chen Jie surmised it was for the Detoxification Pill in his mentor’s possession, and they had chosen Ghost Hand Gu Qingfeng for this purpose.

This Gu Qingfeng, having defected from Guild Cao, was always seething with rage, and now he had joined forces with Nan Batian, apparently preparing for a huge conspiracy.

However, this guy actually dared to lay a hand on his mentor—it was simply courting death!

Fortunately, the System had provided a hint, so he was able to make arrangements in advance.

With that on his mind, Chen Jie’s brows furrowed. However, Nan Batian was no fool; he would probably find a way to keep an eye on him that day, so he needed to prepare early.

Thinking it over, Chen Jie narrowed his eyes. He decided to do two things the next day. The first task was to search for Gu Qingfeng with all his might. If he could find him, he could take him out, and thus nip the problem in the bud.

This was the best method, but it also carried risks.

The risk being that Nan Batian chose Gu Qingfeng this time, but if something happened to Gu Qingfeng, Nan Batian wouldn’t go on to pick another person, would he?

If Nan Batian picked someone else, what would he do?

Troublesome indeed.

It seemed that it would not suffice to rely on himself alone for this matter; he also needed to find a way to keep an eye on the people in Nan Batian’s hands.

With that thought, Chen Jie began to formulate his plan.
