Upon hearing this, Sun Tiechui frowned and said, ”Hmm, but the good news is that it seems they haven’t got any confessions out of the people who were captured.”

The woman said, ”No one can withstand the Mulan people’s torture; it’s only a matter of time before they find us. Right now, what we should do is to focus on forging weapons, aiming to finish this batch of military hardware as soon as possible and then find a reliable channel to transport them out of Mianshui County, cough cough...”

Sun Tiechui, having heard this, said, ”Hmm, Alian, don’t worry about the military hardware, the most important thing now is your health. If something happens to you, I won’t be able to explain to the Dharma King.”

The woman said, ”It’s not like there’s no way, doesn’t Chen Jiusi have the Blood Extinction Herb?”

Sun Tiechui said, ”You mean to rob it?”

The woman said, ”Steal!”

...

At this time, outside the blacksmith shop, Chen Jie and Si Xi had walked a considerable distance. Chen Jie looked around carefully, then immediately turned his head to Si Xi and said, ”Si Xi, bring it out.”

Upon hearing this, Si Xi immediately took out the item he had picked up from the corner of the ground after entering the blacksmith shop, from his sleeve.

He handed it over to Chen Jie with both hands.

Chen Jie took it and a hint of surprise flashed through his eyes.

An arrowhead!

Yes, it was an arrowhead, a metal trilateral arrowhead with a slot at the back where an arrow shaft could be inserted—turning it into an arrow capable of killing an enemy!

And such items were severely forbidden amongst the populace; if you made a sword, it did not matter since swords could be used as farm tools.

If you made a knife, you could claim it was for chopping wood, and that wouldn’t be too far-fetched.

But not bows and arrows—those were military hardware, legitimate military hardware.

Privately forging military hardware in the civilian populace was the crime of plotting a rebellion, so what was Sun Tiechui doing making so many arrowheads in secret?

It didn’t take long for Chen Jie’s mind to draw a connection to the Zoroastrian Sect.

Sun Tiechui was actually a member of the Zoroastrian Sect!

At this point in time, apart from the Zoroastrian Sect, no one else would craft such military hardware. Even the leaders of the guilds didn’t dare to get involved; if they did make weapons, they were limited to swords and the like.

No one dared to make arrowheads, these overt displays of military hardware, and definitely not to keep archers on hand, for if the Yelu Agency found out, that would be a heinous crime indeed.

Thinking thus, Chen Jie narrowed his eyes.

Si Xi, watching Chen Jie, said, ”Hall Master, should we report this?”

Chen Jie, upon hearing this and looking at Si Xi, said, ”Report, report to whom?”

”Sun Tiechui, he’s a Zoroastrian.”

Chen Jie looked at Si Xi and said, ”What good would reporting him do?”

”Huh?”

Si Xi was stunned, then said, ”Uhh... no good, but he is a Zoroastrian!”

Chen Jie immediately laughed, ”So what if he is a Zoroastrian? We can’t get involved in matters that bring no benefit, understand?”

Si Xi nodded and said, ”Understood, capturing Zoroastrians is the court’s business, not ours. Plus, if we report the Zoroastrians, they might hold a grudge against us and target us. That would be more loss than gain.”

Chen Jie nodded and said, ”Exactly, so this matter should not be publicized. Just pretend it never happened.”

”Yes.”

Si Xi nodded. Chen Jie thought for a moment, wiped the arrowhead in his hand, and said, ”No, something is off. Sun Tiechui belongs to the Zoroastrian Sect, but on that day, it was clearly a woman. Who could that woman be?”

Chen Jie narrowed his eyes in thought, then said to Si Xi, ”Si Xi, I need you to do something for me.”

”Please give your orders, Hall Master.”

Si Xi immediately bowed, and Chen Jie said, ”I want you to send someone now to investigate in the city’s medical shops to see who has been trying to buy Blood Extinction Herb today.”

”Yes.”

Si Xi immediately nodded; he was indeed astute and instantly grasped what Chen Jie meant.

That was one of the reasons why Chen Jie appreciated him. If it had been Xiao Hu, he certainly would have asked Jiu Si, what’s the point of asking who bought Blood Extinction Herb?

Whoever bought Blood Extinction Herb represented a potential target.

That person could be the woman whom he had injured that day.

Si Xi immediately went to carry out the task, while Chen Jie returned to White Tiger Hall. He would have some peace for the next few days; after Nan Batian and Liu Laoguai had been warned, they would certainly quiet down. Since this was the case, he might as well investigate who exactly this hidden member of the Zoroastrian Sect was.

Si Xi conducted the investigation swiftly, and by evening, he presented a list of names to Chen Jie.

”Hall Master, this is the list of everyone who has tried to buy Blood Extinction Herb from medical shops today, as well as the prescriptions remembered by the shopkeepers,” Si Xi reported.

Chen Jie, upon hearing this, looked at the list. It was not short; there were a total of seven households.

Chen Jie looked over the list and was quickly caught by two names.

[Sun Family Blacksmith Shop]

[Yihong House]

”Yihong House?”

Chen Jie squinted his eyes, ”Miss Hongyan?”

Chen Jie looked at the prescription and saw that it was one used to treat menstrual pain and warmth replenishment with Blood Extinction Herb being used as a blood supplement.

However, the Blood Extinction Herb in this prescription could be replaced with other medicinals.

Yet, these were not the main reasons Chen Jie suspected Miss Hongyan: it was the profile of a female with the energy transformation technique. Combining these two conditions, Chen Jie could only think of two individuals, Third Miss Hua and Miss Hongyan.

Third Miss Hua was the unrestrained type, and Miss Hongyan’s size, according to Chen Jie’s tactile memory from that day, should be about the same; she seemed unremarkable at first glance, but felt substantial when touched.

Moreover, Chen Jie recalled the appearance and even the voice with which the assailant spoke in the woods that day.

The stature, suiting Miss Hongyan’s disguise.

Could it really be her?

Chen Jie murmured to himself.

Si Xi waited beside him, and Chen Jie said, ”Si Xi, is the Blood Extinction Herb stored in the warehouse?”

Si Xi replied, ”Yes, it has already been placed in the warehouse, and according to your orders, additional guards have been assigned.”
