Chapter 432: Chapter 155 What, How Is This Possible! (10,000 Characters Asking for Subscriptions)_3

”Heh heh, then why did he expose a spy to tell me you’re a traitor?”

”That’s exactly where his treachery lies. He wants to betray me and then gain your trust. After getting close to you, he’ll plot against Guild Cao. Young Master, please listen to me, Chen Jiusi is the enemy, not me!”

”Ha ha... You really think you can make a fool out of me? My patience has run out. Die!”

Liu Song charged at him without further explanation and unleashed his strongest move, [Liu Song’s Thirteen Swords!]

Swish, swish, swish!

After the thirteen strikes, Zhao San lay wounded all over the ground. At this point, Liu Song said to the Black-faced Commander, ”Cousin, seize him. Take him back for father to interrogate thoroughly. I refuse to believe we can’t get the truth out of him!”

”Yes!”

The Black-faced Commander moved forward to grab Zhao San, who was lying on the ground.

At this time, Zhao San looked at Liu Song and chuckled, ”Heh heh, fine, Liu Song, you are the dumbest person I’ve ever seen. You want to catch me? Maybe in your next life!”

With those words, Zhao San clenched his teeth and suddenly bit his tongue shut.

The Black-faced Commander’s face changed as he reached to grab Zhao’s mouth, ”No good, he’s trying to kill himself!”

But it was already too late. As top-level assassins, they all hid lethal poison in their mouths.

Whenever they went on a mission, they would carry a poisonous capsule in their mouths. If the mission failed, they would push the capsule’s protective cover with their tongue, bite down on the tongue, and the poison, upon contact with blood, would quickly be fatal.

At this moment, Zhao San’s face turned pitch black, his pupils dilated and by the time the Black-faced Commander lunged towards him, it was already too late.

Upon seeing this, the Black-faced Commander regretfully said, ”Young Master, he’s dead!”

”Dead?”

Liu Song was also stunned; the man had died so suddenly. After a moment of thought, Liu Song said, ”Well, dead is dead. Just dig a hole and bury him. I’ll report this to father when we return, and we’ll settle this score on Nan Batian’s head.”

”By the way, Cousin, tell everyone to stay alert. I expect Chen Jiusi will soon arrive.”

”Ah, Young Master, shouldn’t we hide?”

Liu Song said, ”With such a large trap set by the opponent, what can our few men hide from? If they want to take this thing, let them. Father will surely seek justice from them later.”

Hearing this, the Black-faced Commander answered, ”Yes.”

Liu Song then stared at the water’s surface with a gloomy gaze. So, you dare to target me, Nan Batian. It seems you can’t wait any longer.

But Chen Jiusi, now that’s interesting!

Liu Song’s gaze remained fixed on the lake...

Meanwhile, on a road not far from Xiantao Village, a group of people was hastening towards this direction. Chen Jie and Tang Ziyue were riding horses, looking at the dense forest ahead. Once they passed through the forest, they could reach the ferry, and then the real confrontation would begin.

Tang Ziyue turned to look at Chen Jie, the corner of his mouth curling up slightly, ”Master Chen.”

Chen Jie turned his head to look at him, ”Oh, is there something Mr. Tang wants to discuss?”

Tang Ziyue said, ”Heh heh, I was just thinking about Master Chen’s game of Go today. What an extraordinary move, I lost without understanding why.”

Chen Jie replied, ”Heh heh, you set up a trap for me; how could I walk right into it?”

Tang Ziyue said, ”Master Chen, you misunderstand me!”

Chen Jie responded, ”Misunderstood? I don’t misunderstand you, Mr. Tang. I’ve been quiet all day, just thinking about the game of chess you laid out today.”

Tang Ziyue asked, ”Oh? Master, what have you thought of?”

Chen Jie answered, ”Just some inconsequential thoughts. Mr. Tang, you and the Gang Leader have been scheming so hard to force me to come to Xiantao Ferry, to intercept Guild Cao’s iron shipments. There must be some hidden danger in this move!”

Tang Ziyue paused, then reluctantly spoke, ”Why would you say that, Master?”

Chen Jie chuckled, ”Mr. Tang, let’s not beat around the bush. Aside from strangers, everybody knows about my relationship with the Gang Leader. I’m just a chess piece that Darugachi uses to keep the Gang Leader in check; he hates me to the bone and has wanted to get rid of me for a long time, hasn’t he?”

Tang Ziyue replied, ”Master Chen, you’ve misunderstood the Gang Leader!”

Chen Jie laughed, ”No, I’ve not misunderstood him at all, Mr. Tang. There’s no point in hiding the truth now, is there?”

Hearing this, Tang Ziyue sighed, ”Truly, nothing can be hidden from Master Chen. However, Master, since things have come to this, you have no choice but to go through with it.”

Chen Jie said, ”Heh heh, you’re absolutely right, Mr. Tang. But I’ve always enjoyed solving riddles, so let’s have me guess what game you’ve set up!”

”Oh, I’m all ears!”

Tang Ziyue looked at Chen Jie, intrigued.

Chen Jie continued, ”Let me take a guess. First, this scheme targets me and, to deal with me, Liu Laoguai is the only one in Mianshui County capable of doing so. And since this cargo belongs to Guild Cao, the scheme must be targeted at both me and Liu Laoguai.”

Tang Ziyue squinted his eyes, ”Master Chen is indeed wise.”

Chen Jie went on, ”Since it’s aimed at both me and Liu Laoguai, you need us to become enemies. But making us enemies is difficult, as we are neither stupid nor ignorant. We understand the concept of ’when the snipe and the clam grapple, it’s the fisherman who profits.’ So, your scheme must be capable of driving Liu Laoguai mad.”

”Without losing his sanity, he would never move to kill me, and you wouldn’t be able to sit back and reap the benefits.”

Tang Ziyue’s expression grew serious, losing his previously carefree smile.

Seeing the change, Chen Jie added, ”Let me guess further, the only thing I can think of that could drive Liu Laoguai insane is his son. Liu Song is Liu Laoguai’s weakness. At over fifty years old, he has only one son. If something happens to that only son, the old Liu Family would see the end of its lineage!”
