Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 356: Chapter 142 The Secret of the Grey Mist, Securing the Treasure Tai Sui!_5

Prime Minister Bo Yan proposed this condition.

All court officials unanimously agreed, and the Mulan officials, those grand lords, were howling in excitement, remembering the good old days of seizing lands, money, and women. They were tired of their own female slaves and had heard that Southern women were tender and gentle like water. They were eager to capture them and have a taste!

However, there were two who disagreed.

One was the reigning Emperor, Emperor Qianshun: Tohan Timur!

The other was the Vice Prime Minister and Daqian’s Minister, Tuotuo!

Due to their persistence, the matter was still under discussion and had not yet been implemented.

But everyone knew that once the Mulan people entertained such thoughts, it virtually meant the idea would be carried out. After all, even if they were lucky this time and it wasn’t implemented, what about the next time?

Who would dare to place their life in the mercy of an enemy?

Moreover, according to the Old blind man’s prediction of the Heavenly Phenomenon through the Tuibei Diagram, Daqian would suffer continuous natural disasters in the coming years, signaling great chaos.

When the court’s harvest was reduced, would the Mulan people voluntarily cut back on their expenses and live a less extravagant life, or would they find ways to further oppress the Han people?

Increase the taxes.

What kind of life could the Han people lead, unable to fill their bellies, barely maintaining a family of five for a year’s rations.

What do the Han need so much for? Let one starve, then it’s enough to feed a family of four.

”I think, Lord, enough to feed three would suffice. Four is a bit much, don’t you think?”

”Right, collect an extra forty percent in taxes. Ten percent goes to the court, and send the remaining thirty percent to me at my residence...”

This was the true face of the Mulan officials everywhere.

Chen Jie, having listened to the Old blind man’s account, finally understood what this world was truly like and knew that the reason the people in the South could still barely survive was that the policies had not yet reached them.

Once the court actually issued the policy to ”Northernize” the Southern Territory,

Then the South would become a living hell.

As for rebellion?

Heh, the mighty Daqian would not be defeated, the noble Mulan Clan had conquered the Han people before when they were fewer in number, had they not?

The founding Emperor made a mistake listening to Yelu Chucai’s foolish advice to treat the Han people leniently. If the Northernization policy had been implemented in the South back then, there would have been no need to wait until now.

Therefore, with the unanimous approval of all the Mulan Clan high officials in the court,

The Northernization policy of the Southern Territory became a political correctness.

”We, the Mulan Clan, are superior; we are the children of Eternal Heaven. The rest of the ethnic groups are Lower Class and all must adhere to our culture, support us, and serve us as slaves.”

Only the reigning Emperor, Emperor Qianshun, had a shred of sense.

Minister Tuotuo also knew that inciting the Han people this way was dangerous and was strongly advising against it.

However, when the entire Mulan officialdom thought it was the right thing to do, even the Emperor and one Minister could not stop it.

With continued natural disasters, the future was destined for great chaos.

And in great chaos, it is the common people who suffer the most.

The Old blind man could not bear to see the world in such misery, therefore he blinded himself in an attempt to find someone capable of pacifying the world.

Besides him, many people were searching for such a person; some even believed they themselves were the one.

After the Old blind man recounted these world events to Chen Jie, he realized just how dire the situation was. His life was good, but it was only a minority; the suffering of the Han people was widespread.

And even the good days of today might not last, because if the day of Northernizing the Southern Territory truly came, the South would become a battlefield.

And what he needed to do was to strengthen himself before this policy took effect, to at least have the ability to protect himself.

Although he might not necessarily have the ambition to pacify the world, in this world, if one wishes to protect the ones they care about, they must have sufficient strength, both in Martial Arts and in controlling their forces. Not one can be lacking!

With these thoughts, Chen Jie’s eyes filled with fighting spirit.

Though the path ahead was difficult, he was determined to forge ahead bravely.

”Alright, Jiu Si, that’s all I have to say to you. As for your future path, I can’t help you much, but here, take these three Copper Coins,” said the Old blind man, touching the coins in his hand. ”With that, I’ll be on my way.”

Chen Jie stood up as the Old blind man passed him the Copper Coins, ”Elder, aren’t you supposed to go to Haozhou to meet Zhu Chongba?”

The Old blind man paused, ”Yes.”

”Then you should be heading back, why proceed further into the gray fog?”

”Do you know what this grey fog is?” the Old blind man asked.

Chen Jie shook his head, and the Old blind man said, ”This is the Dragon Vein.”

”Dragon Vein?”

The Old blind man explained, ”Dahei Mountain, located in Hubei Road, is a branch of the Daba Mountain Range, which is one of the world’s ten Dragon Veins, spanning across the world. This gray fog is the Spiritual Energy emitted by the Dragon Vein, capable of nourishing all life. Remember, just stay on the periphery; don’t venture further in. Inside lies great terror, even those in the Enlightenment Realm don’t dare to enter the core area carelessly.”

After these words, the Old blind man drifted away, and Chen Jie saw that although the Old blind man walked slowly, each step covered several feet, apparently employing the legendary ground shrinking technique.

Chen Jie heeded the Old blind man’s words, eyeing the deep gray fog. He hadn’t expected this was only the fringe of the fog.

What lay in its depths?

Curious as he was, he didn’t dare to venture in. He had barely arrived when he encountered the white wolf comparable to the Holding Core Realm and the Earth Tai Sui at least in the Wolf Smoke Realm. Going deeper might indeed mean no return.

Moreover, he had already achieved his goal this time, securing the five-hundred-year-old Blood Ganoderma.
