The Versatile Master Artist

Painting Knife Painting is renowned for its swift painting process.

Painting on a tablet saves a lot of the cumbersome preparation involved in traditional art.

In just over ten minutes, the screen becomes filled with vibrant, magnificent brush strokes.

The hard surface of the painting knife creates works that, regardless of the subject, have a rustic beauty filled with a fairy tale atmosphere.

Gu Weijing admired his own creation.

The Ah Wang on the screen was still chubby and cute, but now it had gained a three-dimensional dynamic texture.

Responsibility and affection, the instinct of animals to nurture their young, were all infused into the orange tabby cat’s figure.

In Japanese anime two-dimensional culture, it’s common to anthropomorphize animals, creating a series of characters that can transform into cute girl-cat moms, dog moms, and horse moms.

If such an otaku parallel world truly existed.

Gu Weijing always thought of Ah Wang as the kind of character with a tan complexion, living on a mountain engaging in mischief, shouting fiercely that this mountain and tree were her domain, a wild green forest lady bandit.

But this time, while painting Ah Wang’s ”portrait.”

Gu Weijing linked Ah Wang’s demeanor to a chubby aunt with a deep carved wrinkle on her round face, wearing an orange coat.

When together with Bu Dao, the tabby cat showed an unusual side, beyond its rare seen wild nature.

[Emotion: Heartfelt (Perfection)]

Gu Weijing gazed at his artwork for a moment, nodding in satisfaction.

He used to love watching ”Garfield,” ”Lion King,” these well-known animal cartoons.

If one were to extract a classic frame from these famous animated films and compare it to the Ah Wang he painted.

Not underestimating himself.

Gu Weijing believes he paints better.

While the animal protagonists in animated movies are cute, they are more like simple anthropomorphized virtual characters, similar to Rocket Raccoon, Tree-man Groot from ”The Avengers,” produced using real actors’ facial capture, special effects, and voiceovers, synthesized into cartoon characters via computer.

Those are just humans with animal headsets.

But he painted the emotions and temperament of real animals.

Such cat portrait painting is presumably the work Mr. Tony needs.

He finally pushed open the door and entered the studio behind him.

The hinge emitted a gentle creaking sound, startling the two little models inside.

Their reactions were entirely different.

Ah Wang is the more human-like one.

With a meow, it grabbed a toy ball and darted to Gu Weijing’s feet, its plump tail swaying as if proudly reporting its care of Bu Dao.

”Good girl!”

Gu Weijing squatted down, placed the iPad on the floor.

He groomed Ah Wang’s fur with the small wooden comb from his pocket, gently patting its head, relaxing its muscles as a reward.

His left hand caught the chubby Bu Dao trying to sneak away into a corner.

As adults entered the room.

Bu Dao’s bright smile began to vanish like snow under the sun.

Compared to being with animals, interacting with people often made autistic patients feel afraid and uneasy.

”Good evening, Bu Dao, we’ve been together for so long, even brought a cat to play with. Yet you’re still so afraid of me, it truly saddens me.”

Gu Weijing turned his head, lifting Bu Dao up, preventing him from escaping.

”Good evening, Bu Dao. What should you say to me?”

He looked directly into Bu Dao’s eyes, playfully speaking.

Bu Dao squirmed like a caterpillar in his arms, realizing escape was impossible, his gaze shifted sideways.

Gathering courage for a long time.

Finally, he stuttered out something vaguely like good evening.

For some severely autistic patients, being forced to communicate can frighten them, but the doctor believes that with proper rehabilitation training, Bu Dao’s condition might allow him to integrate into normal society before turning ten.

Especially advising more communication with Bu Dao.

As for when significant progress might be visible, that remains uncertain.

If there is no intellectual impairment.

Autistic patients’ learning ability isn’t inferior to others, many even show considerable talent in numeracy or music.

They seem foolish only because their way of thinking differs from normal people, not lacking a linguistic foundation.

At the orphanage, volunteers often spare time to converse with Bu Dao.

From Gu Weijing’s experience, communicating with Bu Dao is a matter of luck.

Sometimes when this little prince is in a good mood, he’ll kindly chat with you briefly.

Sometimes he’s ”closed off,” and no matter the effort, he won’t pay attention. Even the headmistress’s trick of no talking, no food doesn’t work.

If Bu Dao is forced into silence.

The little guy will pout, feeling aggrieved, silently shedding tears, making you feel like the bad guy.

”Do you like Ah Wang?” Gu Weijing asked softly.

”Wang?”

Bu Dao confusedly repeated the syllable.

”Ah Wang, the cat that played with you is named Ah Wang, she’s smart and fun, isn’t she?”

Gu Weijing placed the chubby kid on the ground, patting the tabby cat’s raised tail.

Ah Wang enjoyed shaking her head at Bu Dao, showing a ”Yeah, I’m the praised one” expression.
