Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 1040: Shock

Max stared at him in silence and took in his bedraggled appearance, obviously the result of his worries about his daughter’s well being.

“Please don’t refuse, Patriarch Gu. Just give it a try. Even if you eventually fail, I wouldn’t blame you and will still compensate you properly.” Urged Chu Liangxing, openly showing his desperation.

Max didn’t respond, instead, he summoned his status screen with a thought.

After thinking for another moment, he said, “Alright. I’ll give it a try.”

Immediately, Chu Liangxing’s eyes lit up and Mr. Wang on the side let out a silent breath of relief.

…

Half an hour later, Max left the Judicial Building. Both Chu Liangxing and Mr. Wang came to escort him to the main door which astonished the guards and onlookers and they immediately became curious about Max’s identity.

Ignoring everyone’s gazes, he headed towards his family’s estate.

Chu Liangxing and Mr. Wang watched him leave. When he disappeared from their sight, Chu Liangxing glanced at Mr. Wang, his expression turning cold as he said, “Mr. Wang, Investigate that supervisor. I want him removed from his official post then… eliminate him and bring me his head. I’ll offer it him myself as an apology token.”

“Understood.” Mr. Wang nodded, then they entered the building.

The instant they did, the onlookers erupted into a lively discussion.

“Who was that guy?”

“He was so young and both Judicial Lord and Mr. Wang came to see him off. He must be some powerful family’s young master in the upper city.”

“Don’t you know who the Judicial Lord is? I would understand If it was a Patriarch level figure of those upper city’s families, but a young master, heh, they don’t have enough weight to command such respect from him.”

“Then he might be the Chu family’s main line. Yes, didn’t they say the Youngest Son of the City Lord is a prodigy. He must be him.”

Hearing this, a man cast the Speaker a disdainful glance and said, “Don’t speak if you don’t know for sure or you would become a laughing stock.”

“Heh, you are saying it like you know who he was?” The Speaker sneered back.

“That’s right, I do.” The man smirked and just as he expected and wanted, everyone’s eager gazes fixed on him the next moment. The same was true for the two Gatekeepers.

“Quick, tell us who was he?” Someone urged.

The man, however, didn’t immediately answer and instead swept his gaze across the crowd. It was the first time so many people, several of them way stronger than him or higher in status, were looking at him with such gazes and he wanted to savor the moment properly.

But he soon became aware that some of the gazes were becoming hostile, so he hurriedly said, “You all know the Gu family? The one that was granted the permission to reside in the city for three more years even after they lost their only Bone Tempering realm cultivator?”

“Yes, what about it?” Someone impatiently asked.

“Their youngest son had been bedridden from some peculiar illness. Just yesterday, he had recovered and suddenly reached the Bone Tempering realm and became the family’s Patriarch.” The man revealed this information in one breath as some people’s eyes began to flicker in realization, he announced, “That’s right, that guy was none other than the Young Patriarch of Gu Family, Gu Chen.”

Boom!

Everyone’s eyes widened in astonishment which soon turned into denial.

“Impossible!!”

“Don’t spout such nonsense. How can someone from a Minor family reach the Bone Tempering realm at such a young age?”

“This bastard. He is playing us for a fool. Beat him.”

Seeing the crowd turning violent, the man hurriedly shouted, “I’m not lying. Just this morning he sent the Nie family packing. You might have heard about it, no? If you have not, ask the Sir Gatekeepers, they were here when the Nie family had come to ask for the Judicial Lord’s permission to take revenge on the Gu family.”

Hearing this, the crowd glanced at the Gatekeepers, both of whom had astonished expressions on their faces.

“How is this possible?” The Gatekeeper from Zeng family muttered and this all but confirmed the man’s words.

Immediately, a hushed silence befell the area before several of their eyes began to flicker with hidden thoughts.

…

Max soon reached the Gu Family Estate.

“Patriarch…!”

When the duo on the Gatekeeping duty saw him, they immediately let out long breaths of relief. The news of people going after him in the forest had spread throughout the family and everyone, even the ones who didn’t know him, was worried because they didn’t want to lose their backing so soon after regaining it.

“So news reached the family, huh?” Max muttered under his breath and after nodding at the duo in acknowledgement, he hurried towards his family’s residences to let them know he was fine.

“I’ll go and break the news of Patriarch’s return to the family.” One of the Gatekeepers rushed inside and soon the news reached everyone’s ears. Everyone sighed in relief and the Elders gathered and headed toward the Patriarch’s residence, determined to tell him not to take such risks in future.

When the other family members got the news, they gathered together in front of the Patriarch’s residence and began waiting for the Elders to come out.

Just a short while later, the family members saw them returning wearing dazed expressions on their faces.

“Second Elder, Third Elder, what happened? Did the Patriarch Promise to not go out?” Someone asked.

The third Elders glanced at the speaker and shook his head, “No. He did not.”

Before the family members could begin worrying, the Second Elder recovered from his numb state, took a deep breath and said, “We… We no longer need to fear the Song and Liu families’ pulling any tricks because… the Patriarch…”

The instant he finished speaking…

BOOM!!

Everyone felt an explosion go off in their minds, their bodies shook and their eyes widened in disbelief.

“WHAT?!!!”

Hope the chapter was good!?
