Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 1022: Won’t Bow Down to Anyone

“From this moment on, we are a sovereign family. We won’t bow down to anyone, no matter who it is.” His majestic voice echoed in the hall and made everyone’s heart throb with a feeling they couldn’t accurately describe but it was a positive one.

“Yes, Patriarch!” Everyone shouted out their agreement.

Zhao Ziyan, Gu Ruolan, the Second and the Third Elder’s eyes flickered with a hint of confusion.

Why did his words affect them so much and why were they… suddenly feeling respect towards him?

“We’ll wait for a day. If the Song and Liu families don’t retreat from our river territory, we’ll take it back by force.” Max continued, “Also, Third Elder…”

“Yes, Patriarch.” Gu Lishu immediately stood up and awaited his orders.

“Find out where Gu Lichen is and give him a message from me. He has just one chance. Return the Spirit Weapon Refining Shop to the family within three days and I will allow his family to return and will punish just him. If he doesn’t, they will all be executed.” Max calmly stated.

Save for the people of the main family, everyone else’s heart trembled when they heard these words.

“Patriarch…” Gu Lishu opened his mouth but then he saw the look on Max’s face and dipped his head into a bow, “Understood, Patriarch.”

“Good.” Max nodded in satisfaction and stood up.

Seeing this, one Elder in the middle stages of the Blood Condensation realm hurriedly asked, “Patriarch, now that Nie family is also our enemy. What if they join forces with the Song and Liu family?”

Everyone looked at him. This was indeed something they should be careful about.

Max glanced at him and calmly said, “They are no longer a threat. If they join forces and try to oppress us, it will only give me the opportunity to eliminate them for once and all.”

Thump!

The Elder’s hearts skipped a beat when they heard this. The next moment, they were filled with excitement, joy and pride and also… astonishment.

Max waited to let their emotions settle before he asked, “Anything else, anyone?”

The Elders looked at him with some hesitation. Zhao Ziyan glanced at them, then asked Max, “Patriarch, everyone should be curious about how you managed to reach the Bone Tempering realm in just a single day and they will surely try different methods to find out. This matter is very important and poses an existential threat to our family. How should we deal with it?”

Max nodded in acknowledgement. This was indeed a significant matter. Not to mention the independent cultivators and minor cultivation families for whom the Bone Tempering realm was the supreme, their goal, even the stronger families with Marrow Cleansing cultivators at the helm or even the City Lord would want to know how he did it.

While the independent cultivators and the minor families could be easily dealt with, the Marrow Cleansing families and especially the City Lord could not.

After a moment, he said, “You all need not worry about it. I’ll deal with it.”

Everyone felt a bit uneasy but they nodded. Then Max dismissed the assembly and everyone filed out of the residence, leaving only his family behind.

Swoosh!

Gu Lan rushed over and threw herself into Max’s arms, “Big Brother!”

Max caught her and smiled indulgently, “So you liked the surprise?” He asked.

Gu Lan pouted her lips, “Hmph. You should have told me first. How mean.”

Max chuckled and stroked her head, “I’ll remember to tell you first from now on, alright?”

Gu Lan nodded solemnly, then burst into giggles, “Alright then, I’ll forgive you.”

“Third Brother, you can’t just favor Lan’er.” Gu Yinyin walked over, “You have to tell me too.”

Max smiled, “Alright. I’ll inform you two first if I break through again.”

Zhao Ziyan and Gu Ruolan smiled as they watched them.

“Third Brother…” Gu Rong, standing with his wife, Shui Wuhen’s help, spoke up. Gu Lan and Gu Yinyin stopped talking.

“It was indeed a very good surprise.” Gu Rong said, then his expression turned serious as he said, “But you should have hidden your cultivation for a few months at least. At that time, it wouldn’t have been as big of a deal as it is now.”

Max looked at him for a moment, then asked, “How would we have dealt with the Nie Family if I hadn’t done that?”

Seeing Max’s smile recede and the atmosphere become tense, Shui Wuhen’s heart tightened. She didn’t want their relationship to grow sour because of this minor matter and she squeezed Gu Rong’s hand, silently telling him to gently handle the matter.

Gu Rong frowned in thought for a moment, then nodded, “Indeed, it would have been nearly impossible to settle the matter.”

Shui Wuhen sighed in relief in her heart, but then she heard her husband say, “But why did you kill that Young Master Nie and their Elders in the first place? Did you not know doing so will make things more troublesome for the family?”

At this moment, not just Shui Wuhen but everyone also became uneasy.

Max brows furrowed and he took a deeper look at him. When he saw Gu Rong was just worried and frustrated but not jealous, he expression smoothened and he said, “They had almost killed Nie Haolong and had come to kill his sister and mother too. Seeing me there, they also attacked me. In that situation, there was no other choice but to kill them.”

“No choice?! Those three are more—” Gu Rong shouted, becoming angry. But Max interrupted him, his face expressionless, “It would be better that you stay calm, Elder Brother, lest you say something that might hurt our relationship.”

Gu Rong stared at him for a few moments. Then he took a breath and nodded, “Thank you, Third Brother and Sorry.”

Saying this, he turned around. The anxious Shui Wuhen gave Max an apologetic look, then helped Gu Rong out of the hall.

After they left, Gu Ruolan said, “Chen’er, don’t take his words to heart, okay? He is just worried for the family and because he is completely helpless due to his condition, he isn’t able to control his emotions as well.”

“Don’t worry, Second Mother. I understand.” Max nodded in understanding.

“Alright, excuse me now. I need to go visit Nie Haolong.” Said Max and stepped out of the residence and his calm expression slowly turned solemn when he looked at the system screen before him.
