Strongest Mage with the Lust system

Chapter 1036: Grip of Death

His shrill scream echoed in the silent valley and just a moment later, his vision blacked out and he lost consciousness.

In the area of several miles around him, several predators stirred and for the first time in a long time, they left their respective territories and began rushing over.

WHOOSH—! WHOOSH—!

…

At the entrance of the Dark Valley, Mr. Wang was standing there with his three companions, looking at a half-eaten corpse, split in two.

“He was in the early stage Bone Tempering realm, probably at the third layer. Someone killed him with a single blade strike. The beasts ate him after.”

One of the three late stage Bone Tempering cultivators inspected the corpse after noticing Mr. Wang was showing interest in it. He, of course, knew there was no need for him to do it since Mr. Wang must have already realized this, but as his subordinate, it was his duty.

“Mm.” Mr. Wang nodded and revealed, “He is Liu Bashan, the patriarch of that minor family that came to the city around 10 years ago. Our target is the person who killed him, a 19 year old young man called Gu Chen.”

“What?!” All three heard his words calmly, not surprised by the fact that he knew the identity of this corpse, but when they heard their target was a 19 years old and he was the one who had killed Liu Bashan, their eyes widened in shock.

“Mr. Wang, are you sure this boy killed him?” One of them asked.

Mr. Wang glanced at him and calmly asked, “You think I say things I’m not sure about?”

“N-No, that’s not what I meant.” The man hurriedly shook his head, “It’s just too hard to believe that a 19 years old boy is already strong enough to kill a Bone Tempering realm cultivator, with a single strike at that.”

The other two nodded in agreement.

“That’s because you haven’t had enough exposure.” Mr. Wang said, staring into the distance, “The world is very vast and all kinds of things are possible. Let alone some 19 year olds reaching the Bone Tempering realm, there are people who have reached Sky Ascension realm at just 12 years of age.”

The three exchanged glances, seeing the incredulity in each other’s eyes. At the same time, there was excitement and eagerness.

“Mr. Wang, have you seen someone like that?” Asked the man who had spoken earlier.

Mr. Wang very naturally shook his head, “I haven’t, but I have heard about them.” Then as if thinking they would look down upon him for saying the earlier words when he hadn’t seen someone like that himself, he added, “As for seeing, I have seen young men in their early twenties, some even 18-20 years old, reaching Marrow Cleansing realm.”

Their trio’s eyes lit up. Then another of them suddenly thought of something and asked, “Mr. Wang, is it true that City Lord’s youngest son, Young Master Chu Hao, has reached the peak of Bone Refining at just 19 years of age and is now preparing to break through to the Marrow Refining realm?”

Mr. Wang was silent for a moment, then blandly said, “I have heard the rumours, but who knows if they are true. Even if they are…”

He didn’t complete the sentence and said, “Let’s go.”

With that, he jumped into the Dark Valley.

Swoosh!

The trio exchanged a glance, a hint of curiosity flashing within them.

Why did Mr. Wang’s mood soured when they asked about Young Master Chu? There was something they didn’t know and they couldn’t help but want to find out.

After all, it wasn’t just women who loved gossiping, some men also did.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

They also jumped into the valley and rushed after Mr. Wang.

Soon they came across a skeleton of a horse beast.

“It was recently killed.” Said Mr. Wang as he inspected it. Noticing how its skull was smashed, he concluded, “Patriarch Mi killed him.”

He then resumed moving but he had changed direction a little.

Not long after, they came across another skeleton and the first of the trio’s eyes lit up, “This one was killed by the same person who killed that Liu Bashan.”

“Yes, it’s also killed by a blade—” The second person nodded but he couldn’t finish his words because right at that moment they heard a shrill scream echo outwards from deeper into the valley.

The trio felt a chill, noticing the insane amount of pain in the scream.

“Let’s go!”

Whoosh!

Mr. Wang’s eyes flickered and immediately shot in the direction of the scream, his speed a lot faster than before.

The trio tried catching up to him but the distance between them continued to increase. This amazed them because just like them, Mr. Wang was also in the late stage Bone Tempering realm, thus there shouldn’t be this big of a difference between them.

‘Perhaps he has mastered a high-tier movement skill…’ They told themselves and couldn’t help but feel envious of him. How amazing it would have been if they were also Judicial Officer’s confidants?

They hadn’t travelled far when a group of horse beasts blocked their path but they easily slaughtered their way through them. However, their expression became solemn because they knew they were going to encounter more and more beasts as they were all rushing toward the origin of the scream.

Soon they encountered another group of horse beasts and this time, they had to put more effort into killing them because there were three Late Stage Tier 4 beasts among them.

By the time they finished dealing with them, Mr. Wang had vanished from their sight.

…

WHOOSH—!

Mr. Wang shot through the valley at an incomparably fast speed. Just like the trio, he also encountered groups of beasts but he didn’t fight them and just shot through them, even if there were late stage Tier 4 among them.

Soon he shot past a brutally mutilated skeleton and the look in his eyes became grim. He didn’t have time to inspect it but he could tell, thanks to his unique sensory type tracking technique that this person hadn’t been dead for long.

Since only Gu Chen, Patriarch Mi and other two had entered recently, this person must have been one of them. He just hoped it wasn’t Gu Chen because it would become slightly more troublesome to get the Golden Book and suppress its news.

Just a short while later, he saw several beasts crowding around something.

‘Hm?’ His eyes narrowed because he was pretty sure the scream had originated from this place which meant the person should be here. And if he was here, these beasts should have been fighting him or fighting to take a bite out of him.

However, all of them, no matter if they were Tier 3 beats or Tier 4, even the late stage ones, he even noticed a few Tier 5 ones but all of them were uncharacteristically frozen in place.

Swoosh!

They didn’t stir even when they heard him approach.

‘What’s going on?’ He thought and lightly slapped the small pouch hanging inside his robes. The next moment, a long spear appeared in his hands and he entered the encirclement of the beasts, ready to slay them the instant they moved. But they didn’t.

Soon, he arrived at the front of the group and just like them, he also froze in place and his heart stopped beating as the sensation of his imminent death washed over him.

‘What’s… that?’ Even his thoughts had slowed and his vision was beginning to darken. Despite knowing he was about to die, he didn’t panic and instead wondered what was that indistinct tiny figure hovering over the bloody unconscious man, who he had already recognised as Gu Chen.

Suddenly he felt as if the indistinct figure had turned around and looked at him.

Just as he thought he was dead for sure now, the deadly sensation gripping him vanished and his heart once again began to beat.

Haaa!

He gasped for breath and staggered.

After stabilising himself, he looked over but didn’t see the indistinct figure above Gu Chen.

‘It left?’ He thought before immediately glancing at the beats around him. Right as he did…

Thud! Thud! Thud!

One after another, all the beasts fell to the ground, already dead.

After staring at the dead beasts for a few moments with a solemn look in his eyes, he walked over to Gu Chen and looked at him with hesitation flickering in his eyes.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Just then, the trio, now covered in black blood of beasts, arrived at the scene and instantly became stupefied when they saw countless beasts, Tier 3, Tier 4, and even Tier 5, lying there motionless.

If Mr. Wang was standing amidst them, they would have already turned on their heels.

Mr. Wang glanced at them and said, “It’s alright, they are all dead.”

The trio became more shocked and gingerly walked over.

“Mr. Wang… How did they—-” The first of the trio began to ask but Mr. Wang cut him off, “I don’t know. They were like this when I arrived.”

The trio also believed Mr. Wang, no matter how powerful, wasn’t capable of killing all of them in such a short time, that too without inflicting any injuries on them.

‘Probably only a Sky Ascension realm cultivator can do it.’ They thought and gulped their saliva in nervousness.

They then glanced at Gu Chen and changed the topic, “Is he the target, Mr. Wang?”

“Yes.” Mr. Wang nodded, his gaze shifting to him.

After thinking for a moment, he crouched down and lifted him on his shoulder while putting away the broken saber in his storage pouch.

“You three, check the area for Patriarch Mi and the other two. There was a human skeleton a short distance back. Inspect it too. If you don’t find those three, come to the city and guard the gate while one of you will visit their families to check if they are back.” He instructed them before he turned around and left in the direction of the valley’s exit.

“Yes, Mr. Wang.” The trio acknowledged and after glancing at the corpses of dark beasts sprawled across the area, they spread out and began searching for Patriarch Mi’s trio.

One of the biggest chapters, if not The biggest. Hoped you enjoyed it.
