Apocalypse: King of Zombies

Ravena’s forehead twitched, a vein pulsing visibly as her rage boiled over. Without a word, she spun around and kicked the short vampire lackey square in the chest, sending him flying back to where he came from.

”Hey! What the hell was that for? Ow—damn it!” the little guy yelped, collapsing onto the floor with a groan.

The entire Genesis Biotech North America headquarters was now a minefield of traps. Ravena stood glaring at the building in front of her, fury radiating off her in waves with nowhere to go.

She’d already lost a good number of her vampire underlings—there was no way she was backing down now.

”Follow me! We’re going in!” she barked, her voice sharp and commanding. Whatever was inside, she swore she’d crush it to dust.

The rest of the vampire crew was just as pissed. Their faces twisted with rage, eyes glowing with bloodlust. The thirst for revenge was thick in the air.

The undead horde surged forward, bloodthirsty and ready for war, storming into the building right behind Ravena.

”Where the hell is everyone?! Come out and face us!”

”Hiding behind your little tricks? That’s all you got?”

”Quit playing games and come die already!”

”Yeah, come on out!”

The vampires shouted, itching for a fight, their voices echoing through the empty halls.

But the place was dead silent. Not a single response.

”Huh? Why’s it so quiet?” one of them muttered, frowning.

They glanced around, confused. The first-floor lobby was practically gutted—just a few scraps of trash scattered around. Anything that could be moved had already been taken. Even the damn trash cans were gone.

Ravena’s face darkened, her anger still simmering just beneath the surface.

She’d come in ready for a full-on battle, but now it felt like she’d punched a pillow—no resistance, no satisfaction. Just frustration.

”Search the place. Top to bottom!”

”Got it!”

The vampires spread out, charging deeper into the building, tearing through every room like a pack of wolves. They didn’t miss a single corner—hell, they were even lifting toilet lids just to be sure.

But... nothing.

The whole place was empty. Not even a shadow.

The building had over twenty floors, and the vampires weren’t about to leave any stone unturned. They split up, scouring every level.

Ravena moved with purpose, her senses on high alert. As she searched, she noticed something strange—white fungal threads drifting through the air.

So those figures they’d seen outside earlier... they weren’t people at all. Just fungal constructs.

”Boss, there’s no one here. Looks like they bailed a long time ago!”

”Damn it...” Ravena growled, baring her fangs in frustration. Her chest felt tight, like she was being suffocated by her own fury.

And Sophia—God, she hated that woman. This was supposed to be ”fun”? Ravena was starting to suspect she was in on it with the enemy, maybe even working with that bastard Zombie King, luring her into a trap on purpose.

And then there were those other two Zombie Kings—the one who spread spores and the one who used flowers to mess with people’s minds. She wanted their heads too.

But just as Ravena was stewing in her thoughts, her heightened senses picked up the faintest sound.

”Wait... something’s there.”

”Where? Where is it?” her vampire lackeys perked up instantly, eyes gleaming with anticipation. They were dying for something to sink their teeth into.

”Upstairs!”

Without wasting a second, Ravena took off, her crew hot on her heels as they raced toward the source of the noise.

They soon reached the heart of the facility. This area used to house massive pieces of equipment, but now it was stripped bare—only faint marks on the floor hinted at what had once been there.

Up ahead stood a heavy alloy door, sealed tight.

That was where the sound had come from.

The vampires exchanged excited glances.

”You think someone’s hiding in there? Scared outta their minds?”

”Hell yeah, probably packed in there like sardines,” another one said, already picturing the scene behind the door.

The alloy door looked thick and solid—but to Ravena, it might as well have been made of paper.

She was an SS-class powerhouse. Her body was a weapon, built for destruction.

BANG!

Ravena’s fist slammed into the alloy door with such force that the entire building trembled. Cracks spiderwebbed across the surrounding walls, chunks of concrete crumbling and falling away.

The supposedly impenetrable door didn’t stand a chance—it crashed to the ground with a deafening boom, sending debris tumbling and a thick cloud of dust billowing into the air.

The vampires all leaned forward, eyes gleaming, eager to see what was inside.

But the scene that emerged from the settling dust wasn’t what they’d hoped for. No terrified survivors. No blood-soaked prey.

Just... white fungal threads drifting down like snow.

A mimic had just dissolved—whatever had been there was already gone.

But then, not far from where they stood, a large machine stood upright, its screen glowing red. Numbers were flashing, counting down.

[SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED]

”...What the hell?!”

The vampires stared, dumbfounded, their expressions frozen in disbelief.

BOOOOOOM!

A massive explosion ripped through the building. Fire erupted in every direction, shattering every window in a single, thunderous blast.

The self-destruct wasn’t just some basic bomb—it had been rigged with modified crystal core tech by Dr. Morgan himself. The destructive force was on par with a full-on Cyborg suicide detonation.

The blast swallowed everything.

Vampires caught in the explosion were instantly incinerated. The weaker ones didn’t even have time to scream—they were reduced to ash in a blink.

Others were set ablaze, their bodies writhing in agony as they let out blood-curdling screams. The entire building had become a hellish inferno.

The towering structure groaned, then collapsed in on itself.

Smoke and dust surged into the sky. Rubble rained down, burying the remaining vampires beneath tons of debris. In seconds, the Genesis Biotech headquarters was nothing but a smoldering ruin.

Outside, a number of zombies had been standing guard. The explosion rocked them back, their eyes wide with shock.

”The whole building’s gone...”

”Was it another trap?”

”What about Lady Ravena? You think she... didn’t make it?”

”...”

The shockwave lingered, echoing across the landscape.

The sky was choked with smoke. The ground was littered with debris, and stones continued to tumble from the wreckage.

THUD!

Suddenly, a massive slab of concrete was hurled aside like it weighed nothing.

A figure slowly rose from beneath the rubble.

It was a woman—her clothes torn to shreds, her body covered in dust and blood. Deep gashes marred her face, the wounds raw and brutal.

But even as she stood there, her injuries began to heal, the flesh knitting itself back together at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Ravena.

Her eyes burned with fury, glowing like twin infernos.

She was beyond pissed.

”This grudge... I’ll make them pay for it.”

Meanwhile, at the base of Mount Elbert, the battle raged on.

It had been going nonstop for over twenty-four hours, and still, the Vampire Horde kept coming—wave after wave, relentless and unending.

There was no end in sight.

The human Awakeners were exhausted. Many had burned through their energy reserves and had to be rotated out, replaced by fresh fighters. They were barely holding the line, relying on a grueling rotation strategy just to survive.

But the Mutant Vampire Zombies were too infectious. Ordinary Awakeners couldn’t handle it. One bite, and they’d mutate—turning into a new Vampire soldier, immediately turning on their former comrades.

The humans had no choice.

They had to cut down their own—fathers killing sons, brothers turning on brothers, teammates who’d once saved each other’s lives now forced to strike the final blow.

The psychological toll was crushing. The physical toll, worse.

”This is fun... so much fun... heheheh.”

At the foot of the mountain, a young Vampire danced with glee, clapping his hands like a child at a circus.

Beside him, Sophia smirked, her lips curling into a sly grin. ”This? This is just the appetizer. The real fun hasn’t even started yet.”

”Mmm... I knew it. Number Thirteen always picks the best spots,” the young man said, clearly pleased.

His name was Dexter—adopted son of the Crimson Count, ranked twelfth among his siblings.

He wasn’t worried about the battle at all. Why would he be? The Vampire Race was humanity’s natural predator. Once they took Mount Elbert, their numbers wouldn’t shrink—they’d grow.

”Oh, right... I wonder how Ravena’s doing,” Dexter mused, tilting his head thoughtfully.

Sophia didn’t seem concerned in the slightest.

”Knowing her? I’d say... things are going just fine.”
